And there is one way to do both - NO weak links! I think that this is primarily the reason why most of our fans seem to be so enthusiastic about our roster and consequent playoff chances. Now before everyone comes in here with the Loui = weak link thing, let's just say that despite my jesting about his possibility of a resurgent 30+++ goal season, I am in the big boat with the rest of you that's sailing to Utica to drop him off in the AHL. And as Mr. Green has stated, Loui is going to have to earn his way onto the team regardless of salary, so let's just say if all our assumptions are correct, Mr. Eriksson will not be on our starting night roster. That assumption taken into consideration, if you were to name our "weakest" or "least skilled" players, it is pretty difficult if not impossible to name ONE player out of the top 13-14 forwards or 7-8 defense this year that will not at least be a contributing factor out on the ice. No Gudbransons, no Pouliots, no Gagners. From the very top down to the bottom, I don't think we have ANY players that are expected/likely to have a poor or underperforming season. Consider how few the number of other teams in the league can claim this (certainly not 16 of them) - IF we get a fair shake with the injuries this year (we probably won't but you just never know) - we shouldn't even be considering "are we a playoff team" but "how far will we go". Everyone has something to offer. You could say after Eriksson that Schaller would be the weak link but again it's unlikely he will see many games unless we are missing several players up front. And then from there who could you realistically argue isn't useful to the team? Motte? Awesome utility player Leivo? Same as above but with more room for offensive upside (maybe on the third line?) Sutter? When healthy nobody can argue he's a great defensive asset Beagle? So much truculence. A little steep on the cap hit but hey, it's only money Goldobin? When Tryamkin is named captain I think that Goldobin could really be inspired by his comrade Benn? Upgrade on Biega/Hutton for sure (even though Biega is awesome and I'm still amazed Hutton hasn't been signed by someone yet) Fantenberg? Just a side note I think this guy's nickname should be Fanta Call me crazy but that looks pretty "stacked" if those guys are really the "less skilled" players on the ice. We might not have as much TOP end talent on forward yet as the best offensive teams in the league, but we definitely have the big 3 in Bo, Pete and Brock. That combined with our depth and general overall above-average skill level (not to mention being a larger and younger team than the recent past) points me in the direction of even greater optimism than usual. The general point of this thread is, excluding the usual suspects of Eriksson and Schaller, who, IF anyone, do you think is our "weakest link" and/or is likely to be a liability or detrimental to the team's success this season? I've also added a super interesting and fun poll sure to give you at least 30 seconds of amusement! And who can ask for more than that? Regards, BrockBoester

B̶o̶ ̶H̶o̶r̶v̶a̶t̶ Our Captain - wallpaper by me
BrockBoester replied to motzaburger's topic in Creative and Media Forum
I'm confused. You crossed out Bo Horvat and then replaced it with "our captain". Shouldn't it be a Tryamkin wallpaper then? XD -

I'll start mulling ideas for a higher quality one. Quality over quantity as they say. Thanks for the re-inspiration! (I wasn't really going to stop anyway because you people need to be blessed with my editorial savvy)

Another midsummer BS article. Thoughts on the relevance of this.
BrockBoester replied to aqua59's topic in Canucks Talk
I stopped reading when he said Yeah, I'm sure any GM being told that anything Chiarelli did was logical won't totally laugh the agent out of the room -
2-3 extra points a month definitely within reach. In Benning we trust - 59 days to go till game 1 xD

Out of all the defense we have right now, who would YOU say will come out as the TOP DOG by the start of the 2021-22 season two years from now? Hughes Too early to tell but most people will still say Quinn Hughes will be the clear cut #1 defenseman in two years time or less. Juolevi Could he possibly skyrocket out of nowhere and add a huge boost to the Canucks D and become the best on the team? I was pretty shocked when we took him over Tkachuk (and in retrospect, Keller), but I keep holding out hope that he will become a great player. Stetcher He is a defenseman playing for the Canucks so I've included him in this poll. Myers The big man. Unlikely that he'll be #1 overall D on the team in 2 years time but again that's pretty easy to say for all D-men not named Quinn on our roster Edler He could be #1 D still if his skill level doesn't drop off significantly in the next couple seasons (even if he's only in the lineup for 15 games or whatever) Tanev Somehow I think he could possibly break Sami Salo's injury record so I don't even know if he'll be in the NHL in two seasons, but he still gets into the poll because of aforemention reason listed for Stetcher Other Any player not listed above. Please vote for my amusement Canucks.com residents!

Till we steamroll over McNugget and the Edmonton Oilers on October 2nd! Really, 56 days is not a super long time in the grand scheme of things, and while the summer is seeming to drag on, the Canucks will be back on the ice before we know it. Bonus if you enjoy preseason as much as I do because that brings the wait down even shorter. Will update the thread title daily (as long as it doesnt get locked :(( ) and this thread can serve as a time capsule of sorts, a sort of snapshot into our off-season descent into madness. And then our subsequent hype train party for the final days to tick off the timer. I literally have counted down the days around this time every summer since I was young. Even in the last few terrible seasons there have been many bright spots, so I look forward to this one being much more saturated with WOW moments. Get your playoff car flags ready my dudes because it's going to be a wild ride this year! Hot topics of this week in the off-season include: Almost everyone wants Eriksson out of town Fans are anxiously awaiting Boeser to sign his new contract Where will our newly added players slot into the lineup How many games it will take us to beat New Jersey in the finals this season If this thread could get pinned I'd be honored too but no big deal if it's not THE COUNTDOWN IS ON

Toronto Vs Vancouver aka New vs old who is winning?
BrockBoester replied to Arrow 1983's topic in Canucks Talk
We HAD to have a thread talking about Toronto, eh??!?!? -
Can't go wrong if your top 12 are all top 9 forwards right? And hey if your 13th forward is top 12 too then you're icing a pretty solid team!

Can we just call off the negotiations with Boeser already?

Yeah and you've even got $33 461 of wiggle room assuming that Brock signs for exactly 7m and Goldy signs for exactly 1m
-
-
And in the words of Teddy KGB - Give him 6+ years at whatever salary he's asking for and stop squabbling over a million or so dollars. Brock will regain his true form this season and we will all be wondering why we thought we could have him for <6m on a bridge deal. Fook a bridge deal. Sign the flow now!! Lock up the core! Anyone agree? I think it still leaves "plenty of pie" for Elias and Quinn to have their slices too! We have tons of salary coming off the books in 2 years, so just give the Brocket his payday and let's all ride into the sunset together to win that ol' Stanley after 50 long years of waiting. Can't spell WIN without Brock Boeser!

Great interview by a solid coach. Green sounds like he really identifies with the team's new shape and he sounds like he knows he has a large variety of options in the toolbox this season. I especially like his attitude that 12-15 points is not a huge leap to make in the standings but it's going to come down to a lot of close games.
