Just a hair too slow m80 http://forum.canucks.com/topic/391032-chris-higgins-to-join-canucks-in-player-development-role/

You know what, when I saw the link to the article on NHL.com earlier I thought to myself, "I'm going to be annoyed if nobody lists Vancouver". Then I start reading it and they're going on about Arizona and Chicago and I am about to give up hope when I saw that the one guy Mr. P Roarke showed us some respect. I hope he puts some money on the Nucks this year because he might wind up winning a few bucks. Nuckbucks. $$$

So here's the thing. Tanev and Edler both still great players and will have some pressure taken off with the revamp this team has gone through this offseason. Hopefully a bit lighter load on the ice time and a bit easier matchups for one or both players will lead to lessened injury time. But in the last several years I've realized that we can't ever ignore the guys lower down the depth chart with how many injuries we usually end up with. Having a solid pool of players to call from when this inevitably happens is what could mean the difference between a massive slide in the standings and staying above water at .500 or better while our top guys are out. So this being said, with Tanev and Edler being in the top 6, we really need to have about 8-9 defenseman that we can rotate in and out for much of the season, and I'm fully confident that whoever we have to ice will be a significant upgrade over what we've had in the recent past (*cough* pouliot *cough*) So this makes the guys in spots 5-8 very integral in our regular season chances and I would argue that this need would be even further intensified WHEN we are in the playoffs next spring. The guys that seem to be pencilled in down in those slots are: Biega Stetcher Benn Juolevi With honorable mention to players like Sautner and Woo who may not be the first call-up this season but still could fill in short-term potentially. I would say that if Juolevi starts to live up to even some of his rumored potential this season that gives us a pretty solid lower-half of the D chart, and that is going to pay off big time when our injuries start racking up. Or maybe we'll just not have any injuries at all this year and we'll have a bunch of well-rested reserves for the playoffs. I'm still kinda holding out hope that Hutton could be had at a dirt-cheap deal as he would fit really well in the 6-7-8 ranking here. And then take into consideration that Big Nik T might be coming back from Russia which would give us a bunch of options on defense. So here's hoping that one or more of Tryamkin/Juolevi/Hutton ends up on the squad at some point and that should really help to mitigate when we are missing D that are injured (specifically Tanny and Eddy) Cheers canuckbros and we'll see you around eh

Stetch and Benndogg on the third pairing locking it down. Book it. Top 4 Hughes Myers Edler Tanev Juolevi? (when Edler/Tanev are injured lol) And hey if Stetch falters then we could always pick up Ben Hutton pretty cheap in all likelihood

U wot m8?? What's wrong with backwards baseball caps and tattoos? Or drinking highballs? Is the "def not a Sedin brother" supposed to be some kind of skewed comparison? Because nobody is a Sedin brother except Danny and Hank anyway, they were one (two) of a kind. I'm just gonna go ahead and say that you didn't even see him there at all. Are you a TSN media member planted here to sow seeds of doubt in some sort of twisted conspiracy with Bettman and/or the Leafs? Next you're gonna tell us you saw Ferland with a prostitute tied to his hood driving down Pacific Boulevard in a furry costume

I think it's a toss-up between Horvat, Gaudette, or maybe Sutter

I obviously had to vote other as you didn't list Mr. Eriksson as one of our choices!

What is your 2019-2020 projected lineup for the Canucks?
BrockBoester replied to Roberts's topic in Canucks Talk
Boeser-Petey-Eriksson Miller-Horvat-Eriksson Ferland-Sutter-Eriksson Virtanen-Beagle-Eriksson Myers-Hutton Edler-Hutton Stetcher-Hutton Patrick Roy Demko as backup -
Yikes. Sorry to have ruffled your feathers my friend. I did not mean to offend you in any way. Which leads me to my next point: That's the caveat, "when Baer was healthy". Baertschi is one good concussion away from permanent severe injury, and we're going to throw him on the top PP unit against the other team's best PK units. Doesn't seem wise to me. I wasn't aware that disagreeing with someone on the internet made you a "troll" these days especially in 2019. When is this apparent "troll shaming" going to end? Also, what this guy said. Can't give Bo too many tasks to handle as he excels when he is limited to fewer of said tasks. I understand that everyone wants Mr. Horvat to lead us to the promised land but I honestly feel that he still has a lot to prove, in comparison to recent super-rookies Boeser and Pettersson (And this year, Hughes)

https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-staff-members-discuss-western-conference-teams/c-308366226 If you skip through all the bleh about the Hawks and the Coyotes, you find this little gem about the "dark horse" team - YOUR VANCOUVER CANUCKS! I will save your eyes and souls the pain about reading about the two other garbage teams noted above and cut/paste the relevant bit: Cheers Mr. P Roarke and if you're ever in this neck of the woods come on down and I'll buy you a beer or 12. Anyone else agree with his assessment? I get the vibe of "the sky is the limit" for our young players and I completely agree.

Possible Dark Horse Candidates for Canucks Captaincy 2019
BrockBoester replied to BrockBoester's topic in Canucks Talk
Would you rather have Horvat in the game on the 2nd/3rd line though with the C or would you rather put it on a first-line player with more ice time like Petey or Tryamkin or Big Mikey Ferkland? I mean intuitively it makes more sense to have a captain on the ice more of the time so that he can convince the refs not to carry out Gary Bettman's evil plan against us -
Possible Dark Horse Candidates for Canucks Captaincy 2019
BrockBoester replied to BrockBoester's topic in Canucks Talk
You can't deny the leadership skills of a man that comes from a country run by Putin. Also yes it's very feasible for the Canucks to wait till March or so, right before we make the playoffs, and then make a surprise unannounced announcement between periods that the new captain will be crowned as the team takes the ice for the next period. And then the last player out of the tunnel with the freshly sewn-on C is the big Russian Monster (who proceeds to lay 16 hits in the next period and pot 2G 2A for a comeback win which clinches the Division Title in overtime) -
I didn't check yet to see if anyone made this joke in the thread before me but even if so,

Oh great, another Loui Eriksson love thread. They should have a separate sub-forum for these, lol :)
