  1. Joe Thornton was a generational talent such as Ovi & Sid.

@Jimmy McGill If you took Mcdavid out of the league, I don't think the league changes much. TBH he is tucked away in Edmonton. His impact has been far less valued compared to the value he brings the Oilers. Remove Mcdavid and the only think to change is a couple awards, a lower standing spot for Edmonton and a few less highlight reals.

With respect to this comment "was Joe's scoring ever as feared as Pavels? no. " I don't believe you have to be a ridiculous scorer to be considered a generational talent.

You’re on crack if you don’t think Sid is a generational talent

Yeah, I forgot about Jagr, he was a very dominant player for sure.

Lindros, Jagr, Yzerman, Forsberg, Bourque, Kurri and Messier were absolutely dominant in their primes.... BUT STILL NOT GENERATIONAL!

Generational talents aren't considered the 5th or 6th best player of their era. It's just that simple.

Crosby and Ovi are the only generational players drafted since 2005. McDavid may prove to be generational because the speed at which he plays in full control of the puck while processing the game in step is unparalleled by any player ever... so he's a generational talent for sure, not sure I'd say he's a generational player yet. Much like Lindros was a generational talent, he never got the true status of generational player because his career was unfortunately short lived.
