  1. you can maximize the LTIR by having ferland on the starting roster and waiving both dickinson and poolman before the season starts. we can get within 27k this way. if they get claimed its a win for us.
  2. MLL Elias Petterson and BIgTramFan are right. LTIR is 99.9% of the time a negative thing, only in unique situations can it provide value. for ex. when toronto needed to sign marner before season starts to maximize thier ASCL. there is another situation that can be a positive but its tricky. You can hope to balance the roster with LTIR injured players that and hope they don't get healthy until the playoffs where thier is no cap compliancy required. Two teams come to mind in the second scenario. Tampa bay with Kucherov and last years vegas team. For tampa bay kucherov never returned until playoffs and they got a huge advantage because of it. With vegas it back fired and they were forced to trade Dadanov giving up a second rounder and because thier best players were injured all the time they missed the playoffs. the situation could have been even worse for Vegas or Tampa, if the player came back healthy after the trade deadline they would have to talk to the few cap compliant teams in the league and ask what player they would be willing to claim off waivers, my guess is that a very very good player or multiple players would have to be waived. @aGENT @HKSR Operating in LTIR with a chance to benefit in the playoffs is a risk. on a sidenote Ferlands contract does not offer any playoff bonuses to any LTIR Team. Only if the team cannot find a suitable trading partner where they cant trade the player for picks or future considerations would trading for a LTIR player make sense. it's literally the last trade option a team would make in the case for ferland if they wanted to trade a contract away. the only way ferland is traded is for draft picks i guarantee it. On another sidenote we only have 750k in space, the canucks cannot take back salary, Unless we somehow trade out bad contracts and replace them with good ones. Hint, no one wants multi year bad contracts for playoff teams or non playoff teams. for playoff teams its obvious why, but for non playoff teams its usually about the bottom line and also takes away a roster spot for thier blossoming prospects.
  3. a decrease from nothing is still nothing, no worries here
  4. you have no idea what this means right? it's ok, not most people do. What is LTIR? When a player has an injury of which they are expected to miss a minimum of 10 NHL games and 24 days in the NHL season, the team can place them on long term injured reserve (LTIR). LTIR can be used to exceed the salary cap. LTIR is a very complicated aspect of the NHL operations and the vast majority of details are not specified in the CBA. When a player is placed on LTIR, their cap hit remains on the teams cap payroll and it continues to count as it always did. It also does not provide the club with additional cap-space savings that can be banked for future use while the team operates above the salary cap. Instead, LTIR provides relief if the club's averaged club salary, or payroll, begins to exceed the upper limit. The amount of relief that the club receives is calculated on the day the player is placed on LTIR.
  5. 1. correct, if they demote broberg they will be cap compliant. but they will still only have 11 forwards, 7d and 2 Goalies signed with 463k cap space. this does not make a cap compliant roster possible. see my previous post on how they will have to decimate thier roster to just to get to somewhere playable. 2. LTIR doesn't work that way. too funny. LTIR is not an infitnite money loop, in fact LTIR contracts still count against the cap, the replacement space is a wash. 3. they may not want to trade puljarvi or yamamoto, but they may have to.
  6. actually not true. the have -6.78 million in space and smith and klefbom only account for 6.37 million. additionally they have eleven forwards and 8 dman signed. they could do something like demote derek ryan and mattias jannmark (Both make 1.25m) that would clear 2.25 million. they could also demote phillip broberg (863k cap). That would give them 2.713 million to bring in 3 forwards. sign Mcleod to 1.2 million?(hint he won't sign in edmonton for that little) and bring in two 750k salary players? sound like they need to remove cap to me.
  7. edmonton has to give up value to make it under the cap. no one wants poolparty or yakisoba. i really want bouchard but probably not gonna happen. just remove hoglander, schenn and bouchard. trade still works we get mcleod for free for fixing thier cap problems.
  8. i dont know if this is equal value, but this works for cap space for both teams for 22 man rosters. edmonton drops cap, we add cap but can just make it work. The canucks could always bury dickinson if they needed cap room. why edmonton does this: they can actually play hockey under the cap. all 5 players will make the team (dowling as depth) why canucks do this: clear poolman and avoid playing hoglander on the 4th where he doesn't belong, we also get a few good prospects in Bouchard and McLeod and the better defenceman. our center depth is greatly improved and we get bigger. 10. Queen Elizabeth Died RIP

  11. Jt averaged about 21 minutes a game last year. Bo averaged about 20 minutes and EP40 averaged about 19. your just making stuff up
  12. Bo said he was willing to take a hometown discount, lets hope he does. 8*6.5
  13. we have had some pretty good success at developing goalies, but that doesn't change the fact that Dipietro will not make any waves in the NHL. he was ranked 30th in the AHL for save% and 31st for GAA. that does not make him the 30th best goalie outside the NHL there is goalies in the KHL and SHL which are stronger leagues likely meaning he is ranked around anywhere from 70-100th outside the NHL. Can he get better? maybe, but probably will never make the NHL because he is undersized.
  14. the funniest thing on this thread is that people think DiPietro has any value. he's a 4th string goalie with a slight chance of improving. he will likely never make it even as a backup in the NHL
  15. so what happens like what 1% of the time. cool story bro
  16. ah the elusive trade and sign, why the heck would motte want to come back here after we traded him, and vice versa JR and co obviously knew he was asking for too much and wasn't going to sign him. it's not happening.
  17. yall that are suggesting we need OEL don't know how PP's score nowadays. its not shots from the point, its one timers where you move the goaltender from side to side or one timers from the slot from the bumper where the goalie has to retreat to the goal line . one timers from the point are so the 90's
