They have taken the fanbase for granted but there is a large portion here that laps up everything as long as we keep pretending we can compete. In their eyes management can't fail and they support the players to the bitter end. Until this changes there is no reason for management to make any critical decisions that put themselves at risk.

They also haven't been exactly honest. When they came in they told us to prepare for some tough decisions and hinted at changes, taking a step back to reset our d, gain cap space, getting younger, and not trading picks. The poster was right. They've done nothing but signing an aging Miller and forward depth which didn't address anything but made all those situations worse. Maybe they should have added the flat cap is our excuse but we can't do anything until 2024 at the earliest. Directionless Rudder.

Very nicely stated jyu! Spot on. Like you said you only need one of these prospects to pan out to make a huge impact on your team. Imagine if we had a guy like Cernak, or Bratt. That alone can allow you move forward in other areas as well. The other teams get all the good young players because we're giving away our precious few top picks.

It's frustrating because of how dumb they were. It was so easy to see how poor defensively we were and we did nothing about it but add offensive players. Competent D and goaltending are a huge part of the game ... obviously but isn't free or easy to acquire. These guys are absolute morons. Their heads are stuck way to far up their butts to realize their mistake. Even if they did their egos are too big to fix it. We're in for many years of pain at this rate.

This is it exactly. I even know a couple knowledgeable posters on here don't want picks back in trades but that's not a good viewpoint imo. At some point we're (every team) going to need young elc players to replace older vets or players you can't re-sign. This is reality in the NHL nowadays. Even having 3-4 guys you can put in your line-up without fighting the cap and overpaying is huge. Not having anything in your system just blows the whole team to smithereens eventually. Like now. Literally over 90% of NHL players come from picks. I want us to be a team that every once in awhile when the team naturally isn't competitive make trades for picks to replenish the cycle. We traded a second round pick for Stillman. This is the completely braindead type of impatient thinking that wrecks out team. 1sts and 2nds are invaluable. You can't give them away for some desperate hope a piece of garbage will turn into a hockey player. I agree, it's not even tanking at this point. It's just reality. We suck and should trade some players. Namely Miller and Boeser whom never should have been signed in the first place. Throw in Kuzmenko, Pearson, Myers, and whoever else someone might possibly want and start fresh next year. It's also about having the cap space to sign good players in the next couple of years.

He should just call a cab, walk down the tunnel and hit the nearest strip joint.

Well when you have guys like Miller leading the team and Boudreau backing him up leads are going to evaporate just like that. That example has to come from the top and in this case the message is defence is optional depending on if you feel like trying or not.

He should be shooting with a coach all practice long.

They're actually checking and backing each other up and winning the battles with teamwork.

Also non existent in the defensive end. Contributes a lot to the defence is optional motto of the club.
