  1. Where was that? Is there a thread somewhere or something?
  2. Yeah people can say all they want but it would have been a nightmare to deal with all year.
  3. Yeah, I'm just worried about the juggling act moving forward. I'm guess Kuzmenko is a one and done, especially if he amounts to anything.
  4. Okay now we're dangling Bo ... see you all at page 1000.
  5. Yep, that would be a good start. We might as well toss some firsts in there and get a top notch player ... if possible.
  6. Wow. Okay ... Hopefully this is the right move. I hope management has something up their sleeves to beef this team up. Does this mean Bo is gone? At least the saga is over. Time to get behind the team. Holy f#^ging shizen flymen.
  7. Miller and a first. Get er done JB, JR, JAR JAR, whatever your name is.
  8. That's not the worst deal. We have an excess of wingers and we would pick up a 3rd for the draft plus a RD prospect for our system. However, He's not a good fit for this season if he's hoping to get an NHL gig. Well not with Rathbone anyway.
  9. I said two years. The problem is the money doesn't come off the books until then. Point being we need to concentrate on that, not whatever Miller brings for the next two years while our problems are being sorted out. Other than the dead cap which will hopefully cover Podkolzin, Kuzmenko, and Bo, there is no other money. Petey is up then too.
  10. = Reality Somewhere down the road we're not going to need him we're going to be paying to get rid of him. Paying $60 mil for for 2 years of good hockey when it's unknown if we can compete yet is not good business or hockey sense. Nothing about Cup half empty. I totally get what you're saying about the quality of hockey player. Usually I would agree. It's just unfortunate we're not a better team and our team cap is screwed for the next two years, right smack dab in the middle of his last 2 prime years. It's a contradiction in how to proceed for sure. I believe, after paying attention very closely for the last 10 years, one crucial key to success lies in not making grievous mistakes like signing players to unnecessarily massive contracts. Especially boatload anchors. To answer your question of where you would find players like Miller again, exactly the same place someone else will find him if we trade him. At the deadline, during the season, or in the off season through trade or UFA when we're more ready to compete. If they can sign Miller and make it all work then sure I'd like to see it but that's a lot of what if's and unknowns. Way too many for me to even consider it reasonable. I don't think the things I listed are incorrect in any way though. They should be somewhat obvious to anyone following along closely. For me personally I'd rather be the Vancouver Canucks then the Vancouver Millers for the next 8 years. I think the team is more important than the player and we would basically be arranging our whole team around him to accommodate that contract. But some folks just love Miller that much and I guess that's alright too. And mentioning &$#kface is just not right. You are correct
  11. I don't see how you could say trading Miller won't help us with the prospect pool problem. At this point I think you're just arguing whatever pops into your head just to argue. This statement literally makes no sense. Trading awesome players for prospects doesn't significantly help your prospect pool. Okay then whatever lol. Obviously this convo is pointless. And let's not pretend we can actually trade Garland or Boeser at all for anything at this point. No one has cap space and we just saw the Bjorkstrand deal and how they gave him away because they said it would cost to get rid of him later. Miller is not under contract next year while the other two are. At this point a newly signed Boeser ain't going anywhere unless he proves his new contract is worth it. So basically you're re-signing Miller with a hope and a prayer something works out elsewhere to free up the cap. That's a lack of planning and a poor gamble to take in my opinion.
  12. At this point it's not even a conversation anymore. It's just desperate rebuttals at every turn to prove the other side wrong at all costs. Doesn't matter if it makes sense or if it's even relevant or based in reality. It's based on Demko contract of only 4 years (good grief), Petey's going to leave. Picks and prospects are garbage. They can't help us now so we don't want any ever again. If we can't compete now it must be blown up immediately. Teams can't choose to build over 2-3 years and plan for the future because there is no 100% guarantee. Unless you're Arizona you have to push all your chips in because you'll never have success any other way. Miller will return nothing The list goes on and on. It's way beyond ridiculous.
  13. This is my take. 1. The team currently is not a top team and has some glaring holes 2. We have no RD signed after the 2023/2024 season 3. The RD needs a complete re-work before we can have any success 4. We have no cap space left 5. We have players to re-sign in the near future like Bo, Pods, Kuz, Petey 6. We currently have cap penalties eating into our cap space 7. We have impossibly hard players to move, Dickinson, Pearson, Myers 8. We have no cap space left 9. We have a minimal amount of assets 10. We have almost zero capable prospects 11. We're a wildcard contender staring at a big unknown for the season 12. Cap penalties and unwanted contracts are all finished in 2024/2025 Conclusion: Trade Miller, and focus on 2024/2025. It doesn't make mathematical sense to keep him. We simply don't have the cap space to fit him into the line-up, and fix the RD, without selling off every asset we have and the future of the team. Or we could gut the team elsewhere in an already weak line-up, and play this stupid game again in two years time, and be no further ahead then we are now. I see all these statements like just trade guys like Dickinson and Pearson, but I'm sorry that's just a dumb plan. That's what people have been saying for 5 years now and every year it's the same. You know what, no one wants these guys or we would have traded them already and signed some RD, and be one our way. Sometimes you just have to admit you can't always get what you want and have it all. You have to accept the reality and deal with it, instead of sticking your head in the sand and pretending its all going work out fine without any sacrifices or touch decisions. How are we're going to give raises to Bo, Pods, Petey, Kuz = 6-7 mil+ Add RD = 5 mil Pay Miller = 3 mil more = 15 mil with zero cap space. Talk about setting yourself up to fail. Anyone that can add and subtract simple numbers up to 82.5 should immediately see the massive problem with re-signing Miller.
  14. But don't the players have it better there in terms of earning potential? Sorry I know very little of NFL contract rules.
  15. Yeah it was a good post for reference. That's the sort of trade we should be gunning/hoping for even if it's not quite as good. Those are all reasonable options for a return. Kane's salary is also $10.5.
  16. Like someone else mentioned the NHLPA got completely hosed last time but yeah you're right they would rail against it. There has to be some reason is flies in the NFL though. Perhaps their setup has contingencies to alleviate that consequence for the players. They must have there own union there as well. I have been commenting on JT's weak defence since he came to the team. You can ask my dad ... we watch all the games together. JT's favorite play: The other team's 3 forwards break out against our two D. JT is right there at center ice following the 3rd skater. Instead of catching his man which he can easily do and defending goal side he purposely skates 1-3 feet behind his mark, hoping for a missed pass, a bobble, or a stick lift where he can go the other way with a free extra man situation. Sure it works sometimes but damn is that frustrating as a teammate when you're in a one goal game and JT's man skates in uncontested for an easy goal to completely change momentum.
  17. I would be all for it. I mean yah these guys have shortened careers and put their bodies on the line but they are rewarded incredibly well for it. If you're not living up to your contract there should be consequences and like the rest of the people you have to deliver at least a level of acceptable performance to keep your job. There should be a happy medium where a certain amount is guaranteed but if you're not playing well enough where the team doesn't want you, you're gone. I like how in the NFL if a team has soured on you and you don't fit into their plans the just cut you and they don't spend years with the owners and fans hating the very players they are paying and don't want playing. That's just bloody silly and weakens the league. If you're good enough to play you get a contract that reflects that.
  18. That's a whole can of worms they don't want to open though. Then you will have guys just playing not to get hurt. It's also not really fair for a freak injury like Bo last year. I agree though there should be some combination where part of your pay is dependent on if you are actually playing ... and even playing up to acceptable standards.
  19. Haha, yeah I had to laugh when that one guy said JT would age well because he's good defensively. What a lark. I don't take them folks seriously anymore. This guy was one of the worst cheaters defensively I had seen since Naslund, worse than the Sedin's, and is an absolute nightmare in his own end with no conscience or consideration for the teammates and the goalies he puts under siege. Not to mention giving up on plays and forcing the issue when it's not wise to do so. I remember watching him routinely make blind passes off the boards between his legs in our own end right in the slot to the other team. Then just shrug his shoulders and skate off. Usually when he was frustrated and we were down a goal. He even commented about in that video about his lack of good decision making ... basically alluding to his blind and ill advised passes in his own end. The one thing I will say in his defence (no pun intended ) is that it greatly improved in the last half of the year. I think BB was probably a big factor but good for him for finally getting serious about it. When you put up 99 points people start looking at the rest of your game and you can't get away with that crap anymore.
  20. And from what we can gather — and this seems sensible — a move to bring in some additional blue line help is more likely to occur than one to help up front. Well no sh!t Sherlock!
  21. The Leafs one blows. NJ and Columbus look good.
