  1. This is exactly what I mean. Your hate for Green is clouding your judgement on Gadjovich as a player. He's AHL trash too. The rest of the stuff belongs in the Green thread.
  2. I think people are just tired of the Covid years and desperate for something good to happen. It's causing massive impatience to the point they couldn't care less or have the patience to build the proper way. They forget we've been spending to the cap and going for it for 5-7 years now with piss poor results. It's not working. The team is not very good. JB had his chance, I liked the guy but he failed in the end to build the team up to an acceptable level (not all his fault). Now that we have new management it would be incompetent to just keep blindly plodding along on the same path without making some corrections. I'm almost good with keeping Miller to the TDL just to settle the debate about how good we actually are. If we're in first place and Miller is the reason then sign him for whatever he wants for the grandmaster's and HorvatToBaertschi's. Then we'll start rebuilding in 4 years and be competitive in about a decade..
  3. Every once in a while when I'm going back and forth with people I forget the whole thing is moot anyway. JT doesn't even really want to be here unless we bankrupt the team.
  4. That would be an excellent deal for us. Sillinger is the cat's ass, Boqvist is a young RD (they have Jiricek) and like you said Nyquist could be flipped at the deadline for another first or second. A first, a second, and Sillinger or Boqvist would be a great return and completely revamp our prospect pool in one fell swoop. We would have four 2nd round or better picks next draft and have a pool of players maturing within 2-4 years. Right when we need it. Huge win.
  5. Actually their GM can do whatever he wants. If he decides that's the best course of action then so be it. Neither you nor I know exactly how they value Newhook, or how they plan to approach the future with a highly skilled team just coming off a SC. Anything goes when you're gunning for a Cup. Expect anything. NHL teams don't broadcast all of their intentions beforehand. Of course they want to keep competitive in the future but 31 year old 99 point players aren't free either. You can't have it all and teams do make compromises all the time.
  6. You forget. In the land where mll lives tweets are considered county law and binding for all time. Also general messages made 3 years ago about analytics means they can't trade for Miller. Obviously.
  7. Just goes to show how misplaced and overblown the Green criticism was. There were actually a bunch of idiots calling out Green for letting him go. Shows what they know ... absolutely nothing. They're so dumb they don't even realize it's the GM who makes that call anyway but were just trying to make stuff up to blame Green. And like the hockey people on here knew ... Gadjovich sucks anyway ... like really bad and no Green didn't do that.
  8. Gadjovich blows chunks. Good call by management to waive him. He won't even make the freaking Sharts lol.
  9. There are a bunch of people making statements like you just have to go for it when you can and stuff like that. What the heck do they think we've doing for the last 5 years? Like you said every year all these people predict playoffs, and we're so close, and what do we get? Diddly squat. Reality hits and we make excuses about how we missed the playoffs, and then repeat it again, just like this year. I know the climate is tough right now but I hope management is able to make some constructive moves eventually that make sense for the future.
  10. Yeah baby! We are knee deep in the worst hockey period of the year. Camp starts in 25 days though so we should start seeing some action pretty quick here.
  11. I'm guessing based on his hall of fame GM career and over 50 years in the industry doing the job he was hired to do. Really? No wonder this thread is so difficult and annoying at times. I mean people here are riled up because he looked at the team and decided this is the best course of action. But of course ... joe blow internet guy knows better and everyone else is a fool including those of us who simply got behind the new management's vision. Get with the program. At least management is all on the same page. We are all Canucks.
  12. I don't believe this at all. We also have Kuzmenko, Hoglander, Podkolzin, and Petterson to re-up. I would rather err on the side of caution and make sure we can actually fix what needs fixing before spending wildly.
  13. I personally think the Bo contract is done and we're simply waiting on Miller to get sorted. You could go your way sure. Whatever, whichever. Something has to give though. I just don't like giving out a massive (biggest in Canuck history) contract to an older player when we have other far more critical issues to address. It's the cart before the horse for me. Some people are itching to be competitive asap but realistically I feel this could be a four year fix. Regardless of the cap increasing or not this looks like an ugly anchor contract at some point, which I just can't get behind for a current non playoff team. Now if we're winning the Conference at the TDL by 15 points and Miller is leading the league in scoring that would be a different matter. However the timing sucks, If we have another mediocre year I couldn't justify re-signing him. I've also had just about enough of this trade Dickinson, and Pearson for a #1 RD ideas. At some point if you want something back you need to actually offer something good. At least you came up with some better options. Although I don't think Boeser is getting anything unless he has a very good year and improves his value.
  14. We don't have to but something has to give to get there, and we're not winning anything until we do. We need cap space and possibly assets to make that happen. I am looking at a two year turnaround. I just don't want a bloated 9 million dollar contract on the books at that point.
  15. Yeah sure I get all this. However have you even thought about Covid at all? Sure we can look at a 20 year trend but none of our data contains a world pandemic now does it? From the outside the optics are terrible. We have a company who has stalled out success wise. We're bleeding financially from a landscape pov and running an unsustainable maxed out budget. Now your solution after being in a stalled economy and financial hardship for 3 years is to bank that the world and your business rebounds strong as ever and to the highest of expectations. All while you are currently fiscally broke and can't support that increase in the current landscape. I worked in business and high commerce for 15 years and our CEO would have been laughed out of the room and probably fired if presenting that at the yearly/10 year forecast. Do you understand this as a concern at all? Sure the cap could/should go up but you have to admit it's pretty uncertain. Would you be kind enough to show me the info on the cap increase? I admit I haven't been looking myself but from what I've come across it's seems a bit like pure speculation and hope. I haven't seen anything regarding these big numbers being bandied about. No offence if you actually have some credible links to dollar amounts and timelines. Thanks in advance.
  16. See I just don't agree. We have no cap space to further compliment the core and pay Miller. Petey, Demko, and Hughes all have 8-10 years of good/better hockey left. Bo is two years+ younger then Miller. So no you don't trade those players unless their contract demands are too high. That's just a completely silly argument. Miller on the other hand will be on the downswing in a couple short years right while our core is entering their prime, and he wants a massive retirement deal (which he should). We just went for it last year again and you saw the results. We didn't even make the playoffs. At some point you have to realize what is and isn't working. There is a very real thing called the salary cap which unfortunately prevents you from signing anyone for any salary. Yes we should compliment our core ... with something called Right Defenseman. I don't know how anyone thinks our D is acceptable. If Poolman is not able or even if he isn't we're looking at Schenn Myers Dermott/Burroughs on expiring contracts nonetheless. How is that even close to capable of winning in the playoffs?
  17. Sure the team looks to have made some improvements in the line-up. PK looks to be improved, but let's remember Dickinson was supposed to be a PK genius too. We added a little size, speed, and a tiny bit of toughness. However, we don't really know if that makes us a better team standings wise. There are a lot of question marks as well. It will take time for the new players to fit in. How long is anyone's guess. Kuzmenko is an unknown entirely. Podkolzin is in the tricky sophomore season. Where does Mikeyhev fit in. Rathbone is another question mark. In addition Spencer Martin is a who knows as well, which is a big necessity as we saw last couple years. And then there is the RD. Don't get me wrong I am genuinely excited by the look of the forward group this year. Of course Miller makes the team better right now, how much and to what end is debatable though. He will definitely be missed. No question there.
  18. Yeah I hear you and agree but I would hope there should be some happy medium. I know these guys have shortened careers and injury concerns but there should be at least some accountability for how one performs. I mean when a player performs as bad as a Loui Ericsson he just isn't living up to this side of the deal and deserves to be let go or have his contract re-structured without it crushing the club at the same time. Of course the GM's signing these deals should be more accountable too. However they are the same as the players. Sign a big deal themselves, sign a bunch of overpriced vets and then walk away or get canned before it's a problem. The thing is in the NFL you don't see these huge 8 year UFA deals. If the player is producing they get paid accordingly, if not ... hit the road. I think maybe they should look at only guaranteeing a contract for 3-4 years and after that you gotta earn it.
  19. I really hope the next CBA addresses this. The NFL seems to have a way better handle on this. The problem is the players union who actually argue that legally their clients have the right to unlimited earning potential. It's poor business overall for the league when it's operating so inefficiently. It's routine and expected in the NHL to suffer as a result of such contracts. There needs to be a better way of terminating players not living up to their end of the bargain. The league will be sorting itself out in the next couple years coinciding with our bad contracts expiring. That is when we should be building for.
  20. I still can't believe people are this poor at judgement. I hope they are not responsible for making any important life decisions. Either way thank Gawd we don't have people that irresponsible running the team. The kicker is my friends would laugh you out of the building if you said I was the one preaching responsibility. Of course BB is going to want him to stay. He won't even be here when that contract is killing the team. He doesn't give a rats ass about the future of the team. Yeah he wants to be here real bad.
  21. Yup, this has been a poor hockey team for 3 years now with him on it. This argument is not a very good one.
  22. This is literally the textbook example of poor business sense. I see people fabricating this cap stuff and spending money they don't have. Is there anywhere that they actually say the cap is going up that much? All I see is that it may or may not go up a little bit in 3 years. Maybe ... and even then that's far from a guarantee. Those dummies at Canucks Army are making stuff up to fit their narrative again. And then on top of it you give him 8 years at 8+ and talk like that's a good thing?
  23. Big deal. Who cares? We're a fringe playoff team with or without him. Let's aim a little higher shall we.
  24. What a gawd awful article. Horribly written and completely out to lunch on their knowledge of non-Canuck hockey players.
