  1. The New Jersey Soft Little Fellers. Got a nice ring to it.
  2. Yep, teams like this keep signing guys and just squeeze it in somehow. I would imagine they'll have a full squad by season start somehow. Can someone explain in simple terms what the Weber contract means for them? I'm guessing that he has to fit in cap wise for the start of the year but then they can go over by $7,858000 after that? Nyet I don't know. How are they going to get cap compliant when they have 11 forwards, 6 defence, and only one goalie signed, with 3 IR and Shea Weber on LTIR but currently 6 mil over cap? Thanks in advance.
  3. 46 points in 51 games in the Czech league last year.
  4. Sorry I wasn't being fair to your post and just replied to the part I wanted. My bad. The rest of your points and the gist of the post was coherent and thoughtful and made good sense. Ah I need to step out and get some sun. Cheers.
  5. Yeah absolutely does us no favors. I mean at this point maybe we go into the season and see what a month or two looks like. If we're ripping it up we push on and maybe even get him signed for 50 SchMillers that way. Or if we are out of playoffs then we entertain some offers. Who knows lol.
  6. Absolutely and simply mind boggling that people think you build good teams this way. Unbelievable is right.
  7. Yeah I have to agree. I think Miller really grew as a person, player, and leader under Bruce, as well. His play and attitude from the start to the end of the season was an invaluable transformation. Good for Miller, I am quite impressed and happy for him. Not $70 million type of happy though.
  8. Yeah I don't know why some people cannot let go of any player on the roster. Surely Pearson is expendable and replaceable somehow if we get a draft pick ... like we should have done 2 deadlines ago when there was a market. Yup, after not cashing in on the Sedin's et al this is the biggest trade chip we've had since before Kesler. Teams can't make poor decisions for an entire decade straight or more and expect to be successful. I understand the Sedin decision for the franchise but we can't keep doing that over and over again either, especially with a player that's only been here for 3 unsuccessful years anyway. As Stawns mentioned we really have no clue what is being offered though. None of us are in on those talks even though you are working your best to minimize the return. It's just such an obviously poor decision that makes it a massive blunder at this point in time. We're not in a position to make yet another stuck in the moment non move. Exactly
  9. Yes, it's mind boggling. It reminds me of my bro. Here is what everyone does in this situation. Yeah we're not doing that ... again. And then wonder why we're not successful ... again. Myers trade does not compute
  10. This is the philosophy I'm having trouble stomaching: Guess i've reached the acceptance stage It's not going to ruin this team for sure So this is how we're basing decision making now? It shouldn't hurt the team that much is our new goal? That just seems ... like really bad judgement. I would fire anyone that worked for my company for that type behavior. That's just laying down without a fight or belief in yourself and your organization. It's like who cares, we're so impatient we don't care about anything anymore except spending as much as possible and just blindly pushing forward at breakneck speed. Just go for it who cares about our future or reality. I don't know if this is where this is coming from but I feel impatient in the sense that the last 3 years weren't even real to me and TB's Cups have a big asterisk on them imo. The bubble wasn't real hockey at all and the final against Montreal was the first semblance of real hockey during that 2 year period. However that season, and this previous season were both total garbage due to Covid. So many teams missing many players over huge chunks of time. So yeah I'm dying for real hockey too but I'm not willing to sacrifice the team for impatience due to an uncontrollable situation. Of course all trades could be nothing but that shouldn't stop you from trying. I mean this is a pretty common move in the NHL and some folks are making it seem like some stupid act of desperation when in fact this is how you generate assets in the NHL. If a middling team is struggling to get better what should a GM do if not trading expiring players for assets? Sure, playoffs (possibly) and a buzz in April is a plus for the team and city but one must remember we also kept Tanev, Edler, Marky, Pearson, etc.. We also kept the Sedin's and didn't get any assets for them either. It's time to make a forward thinking decision for once instead of only thinking about today.
  11. What world are people living in now where they are criticizing the first round picks because they are later and these kids won't be in the line-up tomorrow? Of course, we all know how the TDL and draft picks work. They are still the best round of draft pick you can get. It doesn't suddenly make the asset worthless like one or two people are trying to pretend here. The players that do make it are usually banging on the door in two or three years and that's a good thing. If it's going to be hard to trade him if we're in a playoff spot again then we should trade him now. I'm tired of being the doofuses of the league where we hold on to all our players while being a crap team and let them walk for nothing. We got a real hard time dealing with reality on this hockey club sometimes. 1. Do you want a first round pick or nothing 2. Do you want a high ranked prospect or nothing. 3. Do want a roster player for free or nothing. CDC: Hmmmm. Can I have some more of that nothing sir?
  12. Yeah I want a management group who looks at everything and makes good decisions on all things. Even if they are on smaller things I want them to be consistently smart. I don't want them throwing away 1st round picks because they're not exciting enough for some people, or you have to use patience for them to develop. It's no wonder our current state is what it is and yet some people want to keep repeating past mistakes. Like you said once we create a little flexibility then we can make subjectable calls like that, but before is just foolhardy and risky with little foreseeable reward.
  13. Debatable for sure. Looks better than what we currently have though. Feels like something is going to happen yet. Even bringing in one of the fringe UFA's left and maybe they try that combo out. It might be awesome ...
  14. Hughes Girard OEL Myers Rathbone Schenn Hughes OEL Girard Myers Rathbone Schenn
  15. What about the 4 guys we've signed in UFA already as well?
  16. I don't know man. The possibility that an American wants to do business in America and live in America instead of Canada seems like a distinct possibility. If that simply doesn't make sense to you then OK, no problem. (Head in sand reference though) And sure I think it's also logical Bo may want to play closer to home as well at some point, although Van has been his home since he's been an adult, and he has been treated very well and given large responsibility here. I don't think Bo has an option to go to Toronto anytime soon either. It's also possible like you said he hates his in laws but I would think he likes his parents. Hid dad drove him to practice in Pittsburgh from ages 12 -16 and was by all accounts a dedicated hockey dad. I think family is heavily involved in JT's life. They are building a house in Pittsburgh. On some level this must make sense to you somewhere that he values family and might want to be near them. Like you said though no one knows his true key motivations and maybe mountains and rain are his ultimate dream as is Canadian schooling, no guns, and our way of life. One thing I haven't seen mentioned is his hockey ties. I would guess growing up he had a lot of influential hockey people guiding his career, coaches, mentors, GM's, scouts, agents, players, friends, family, etc.. I would venture to guess that those types of people would have influence in JT's next decision, whomever they may be. JT may trust the vision of a certain GM, or simply resonate with the way their future is expressed to him. I just got in and I'm catching up but holy the desperation by some is getting up there. 10 million a season over 8 years is alright for some now, I've heard give him whatever he wants by several posters, and now even draft picks are useless too. Jeepers ... that just sucks. I like having good young players in the system and a future to look forward to. I guess some people couldn't care less.
  17. I think he lies ... and wears heels. Both he and Canuck fans hugely overvalued him.
  18. Caw Caw lol. If I have to I will. Just want what's best for the team. It seems so obvious what that is. I was just joking around by the way but it seems clear by what's transpired. Just common sense really. He should realistically want to be close to his whole family, in the heart of where he grew up and what he believes in. Also better marketing opportunities and long-term term growth roots as well as exposure to USA hockey. Plus, unless he's just ultra ultra greedy and risky you would have thought he would have signed by now if he really wanted to stay. No? And of course he wouldn't indicate a homegrown inkling right in the middle of contract negotiations. What he didn't do though at any time was profess any desire whatsoever to remain here for the rest of his career. When you think about it Americans are really the only danger country for us like this. Other players like Swedes can't choose to go home and play NHL but Americans can, and really who is to blame them?
  19. Lol Motte, apparently 160lb oft injured 4th liners aren't quite as valuable as he thought.
  20. This guy can fight. Period that's it. Which is pretty much useless these days. Completely incapable of playing with and using teammates in a meaningful way. Without a doubt my least favorite type of player. He and Bailey can both fly far far away and never come back.
  21. loved = past tense likes = not loves obviously already gone ... Translation = for insane amounts of franchise crippling money JT may consider it
  22. that's a good deal, that's a good deal, that's a good deal,
  23. Yager is looking awesome. Chance after chance. Just needs to work on finishing.
  24. Oh man sorry to hear that amigo. I truly hope everything is well and all the best to you. A short summary of the highlights We went from getting Lafreniere, Schnieder, Kakko, and a first to 2nd overall from NJ +/- a Severson, Holtz, Bratt, Bahl, McLeod combo briefly Carlo, Debrusk, a first and also Morrow, Necas, 1st supposedly Rangers actually offered Chytil, Lundqvist, 1st at last years TDL then people finally started accepting Miller re-signing for anything reasonable is almost unreasonable given the reports available possible botched deal to the Lou Lam Islanders at the draft the draft has passed and now Miller's value/status = unknown pending time apparently JR and Co will trade him if not signed 1 month prior to draft we talk/argue about other stuff
