  1. Would have been great just for the 5 games a year. What an instant rilasry that would've been.
  2. Okay, I'm not sure what you're talking about exactly. You're right though those prospects were successful for sure. I'm talking about having a steady stream of prospects and right now our cupboards are fairly barren due to only having one second rounder in 20 and 21 and no second in 22. It would be nice to get a first back if we trade Miller.
  3. I meant on the prospect list. 5 of those guys went straight to the NHL. Right now we only have 1 player in the first tier if Rathbone makes the squad and we'll need ELC players when those guys are all making bigger $.
  4. I would say as of now we're at 55% chance to make the playoffs.
  5. Yeah I flubbed that one. Remembered Pearson but didn't know Garland hit it once. I still think the sentiment is the same. It doesn't look that strong on the wing position with the possibility of it being quite disappointing.
  6. That's also probably around 49 mil on 9 forwards starting next year with only one winger ever having scored 20 in the NHL. Looks like a big waste of cap to me. Edit: Forgot Pearson but I don't think he's scoring 20 on that line. Double edit: This line-up can do some damage this year but it hinges on getting a guy who can legitimately play 3C and let Petey or Miller flex out to the wing. That 3C also needs to jump out seamlessly to the wing when we play Bo at 3C so most likely Pearson would be replaced with that player. Kuz EP Podz Mik Miller Garland 3C Bo Boeser Miller EP Boeser Kuz Bo Garland Mik 3C Podz I could see us making a swap of this kind somehow if the market opens up a bit.
  7. Pleasantly surprised. Pretty good read Thanks Googlie! Really hoping for a time where we have multiple first and second tier guys constantly pushing to make the leap. Hoping sooner than later and to do that we need to acquire some additional first and second round picks. It's crucial in my opinion. It would be immensely beneficial to have 20 year old players coming up to play on the third line instead of paying guys like Pearson and Dickinson 3 mil each and then wondering how we can dump them off. That money would be better spent elsewhere.
  8. Vancouver Canucks To select another LD Good old Saskatoon kid from the dub. It would have been nice to get one of the 4 LD last year but Lekkerimaki has the high end potential we need as well.
  9. Yeah that's what I was thinking. I just kind of scratch my head when people suggest it. I wonder if they've completely forgot about the salary cap or if they're just really bad at math.
  10. @HighOnHockey Is it too early to ask who you got at 15?
  11. If your 3rd line center makes 7 mil it means your team is trash and management has zero clue of what they're doing.
  12. Whatever you want there boss. You tell me what is best sir.
  13. There are only so many roster spots. If he's in the line-up someone else needs to be traded. Dickinson is untradeable so Pearson or Garland but we may not be able to give them away. I'd put Hoglander in the AHL for the start of the year at least and make a decision him at the TDL.
  14. 2 full years younger and 1.5 mil cheaper means Bo actually has a chance to play up to that contract vs signing a contract already knowing you want nothing to do with the last 2-3 years.
  15. Not much choice I guess except back to Hughes Schenn OEL Myers Rathbone Burroughs/Dermott/Poolman Yeah he'll probably play somewhere but I just don't know if he'll sink or swim
  16. He's totally see through. That all started with his love of Miller and the need to show how Miller is such a great leader compared to Bo. Also Bo is the only other asset that is in the same boat as Miller contract and decision wise so he has to hate him.
  17. And we have Schenn, Hughes, OEL, and (blah) Myers, lol, he's not even a legit 3rd pairing quality D, he's a borderline 6 project The more I look at that trade the less I understand it. Must be some underlying analytics but he was pretty meh during his time here after the deadline.
  18. It's pretty crappy but the league is basically in spin it's wheels mode until the escrow is paid off and the cap increases. That's why I think all moves should be geared for 2 years out, hopefully gaining some assets along the way if possible.
  19. @JM_ The dream is over. Doh! Good deal for John though he can sign a bigger contract next year when teams get some flexibility perhaps. Also, Anaheim might be sneaky good. They were off to a good start last year and faded down the stretch.
  20. People are deluding themselves with the coaching saga thinking it means we're better than we are. Coaching was an issue but really these players also played so poorly they got the whole franchise turned out and upside down. These guys were playing for their hockey lives, jobs and pride for the rest of the year ... and they still fell short. When you add in most teams thought we were easy outs, playing a lot of backups at that point there was zero pressure. It's pretty easy to play in that type of situation. Not that it wasn't somewhat impressive and entertaining in itself but it will be difficult to replicate. Do some of these fans not realize that at all? I mean usually a half season of 7th/8th place play isn't enough to consider yourself a solid playoff team the following year, especially when combined with the rest of the season meant missing the playoffs. Sure we showed promise but a lot of people are thinking we're pretty much guaranteed playoffs and a 100 point season with Bruce. I don't think it's quite so rosy and I think a lot of fans are going to get a good hockey lesson this year unfortunately. Yes we actually have to perform better to make a rivalry matter.
  21. Such a nice guy, even saved Aqua money on flights when money was tight.
