  1. JR and Co will sell going for it this year to our gullible fan base quite easily. Then after we miss the playoffs and Miller walks they will push the retool on the fly. We know this is happening. It's going to be funny when we miss the playoffs after a bunch of fans arguing that this is why it's so important to keep Miller. @mediocrehockeyforever
  2. No problem. We're very bad at planning for the future and it doesn't appear we're getting any better. We'll never win anything at this rate. So many fans willing to accept mediocrity. Why would management/ownership ever change? Keeping him out of spite though ... great plan ... ... never learn Canucks fans. Never learn it's so adorable.
  3. Yep I'm starting to think like a Canuck fan. Can't make any necessary moves yet again. Finally have a great asset in Miller but due to Covid no one is in a position to pay big bucks to the older player. We probably just end up playing out next year and losing him in UFA. Ah ... to be a Canuck. Forever screwed! lol
  4. People that complain about old draft picks are silly drama queens. Get over it lol and accept simple life realities. Even a guy like Yakupov shouldn't make people go
  5. One thing I noticed last year was the 5v5 play in close games. At times the other teams were simply able to outplay us. It really seemed like we didn't have a RD capable of playing simple catch and pass hockey as well as the other teams. Almost as if we were playing with only 4 guys to their 5. This lead to us being on our heels for large portions of the third. When the other teams put out their best 5 man unit we couldn't match. I think a player with some offensive acumen and all around skill is needed on the right side of D. Severson is definitely an interesting proposition, but maybe this also comes as a third pairing replacement for Schenn or a young rookie in trade.
  6. Saw Pronger a bunch live mostly in the second row on his own goaline. It's unbelievable how dominate he was.
  7. I heard that Miller won't re-sign unless they build a statue of him next to Roger Nielson but his has to be a foot taller and more prominently placed. Also wants a tiny village built in lower Van and renamed Practically Pittsburgh where he is the Mayor, and called Lord General Commander Millsy by those that live there. One last stipulation is that Dickinson becomes his poolboy and Poolman becomes his chauffer to and from the games.
  8. Good luck, it's not like enforcers have any power these days. Thachuk just doesn't accept fights enforcer or no enforcer. Players figured out that trick a long time ago.
  9. Yeah Thachuk could easily get swooped up by somebody else. Would be a good target for Jersey absolutely. Poile might just want a one year player too. I would have to think JT will be quite a bit cheaper as well. Who knows exactly what they want or what traits they are looking for. I'm sure a lot of that type of stuff is discussed behind closed doors and those discussions could lead anywhere.
  10. Another LD And sure we'll sign Zucker too after he's bought out.
  11. All things being equal Tkachuk is probably the desired option logically but there's a multitude of things going on with each club involved that we're not privy too. Nashville could easily go for Miller after all is said and done based on many possible factors. There is: price to acquire desired salary length of salary willingness to play or re-sign in Nashville players demeanor playing position desired skillset leadership qualities powerplay/pk ability availability almost too many to name
  12. Yeah for the flack I give him I've liked Myers ever since he came into the league with Buffalo. I just think our D will continue to fail without meaningful change and I don't know where else that can happen. When you think about it obviously larger players like Myers naturally struggle with conditioning in comparison to the their smaller counterparts. It's a lot harder to lug around 6"8 230 while playing physical than it is a 6'0 190 forward. I don't think it's smart or fair to ask him to play 25 minutes a night and a mixed bag of results shouldn't be unexpected. The 6 mil price tag isn't all that attractive though for a guy with 18 points last year though. I wonder what his next deal looks like at 34? Regardless we need someone to play there at some point unless we're just going to go with 4 forwards.
  13. Yup, he's great at being a physical presence, police man and an offensive contributor in a complimentary role. He can play big minutes against top lines if asked but he does it very poorly. He was very valuable in a 2nd/3rd line role in Winnipeg where wasn't asked to be the man. Obviously I'm a little harsh with my take on Myers sometimes but I'm just so tired of the giveaways and poor decision making. I watch most games with my dad and we bet on whether or not he'll make a good decision with the puck in his own end. Easily over 50% of the time he makes a terrible decision but his size and his teammates, namely Demko bail him out over and over again. Limit his minutes and role and he's able to deal with the pressure a lot better.
  14. Well I'd love it but I don't think it's happening. Seattle's got a weird plan going but I don't see why they would do this to help us out. Basically solves all our problems in one move and they get a worse D and middling prospect. Very convenient and I question why they haven't pulled the trigger if that's the case. Sign me up though.
  15. Yes I agree it definitely looked better and I really liked BB's comments at the start of his hire that he wants all 3 forwards back on the defensive side of the puck immediately in order to create turnovers and help transition the puck. Myers will never figure it out I fear but I hope he can be taught to just dump the puck to center as soon as he gets it. Our right side is so immobile and slow at making decisions offensively. It's hard to come up with a good plan for that besides new personnel but perhaps with a full training camp and entire year BB has some tricks/plan up his sleeve he didn't have time to work on during last year's meth run.
  16. Yeah I can't imagine why we would want to bottle up the crap that was last season and run it again on purpose. Seems like a complete waste of a year to just face the same problems 6-12 months from now. It's confusing.
  17. This really gets a bee in my bonnet when people try to proclaim we're good on defence by lazily grabbing some dumb numbers off the internet in a vain attempt to validate keeping Miller. We're all Canuck fans here (I think). Don't people watch the games? We should all be able to very easily conclude that we're simply horrible back there currently. There shouldn't be any argument. It's just being honest. Just like Demko is a God in net, Miller is an all-star up front, and Podkolzin is a bottle of awesome ready to explode. Sometimes we can't clear our own zone for minutes on end, we gift the other team grade A scoring chances continually, we have terrible breakouts, and we produce little offence without #43. A huge flop in every facet including PK. But no let's just bury our heads in the sand and pretend it's fine. Defence is a massive part of hockey despite some people's wishes and beliefs.
  18. It'll help but not enough unless Mikheyev can play RD. Hmmm, throw Myers on the 4th line RW. Maybe that would work, better plan than they currently have. Joshua Lazar Myers Now that's a fourth line.
  19. Except for the fact that no one is giving up a top 4 RD, #2 to us for a downgrade, out of favor sophomore, and a cap dump. Maybe if you offer our 1st.
  20. Yeah they can do whatever they want with the forward group we're not improving much if any. Our problem is with the defence. It's simple. Absolutely all moves should be made with 2025 in mind. This year should be about enjoying Canucks hockey win or lose and looking to the future. I agree if they can't find a RD this offseason it's definitely on the opposite side of a win .
