  1. But what if that's the difference between a team being able to make a deal?
  2. I'm trying not to panic but I'm not enjoying this either. It kind of feels like they're coming to this realization that we're screwed and it's impossible to do anything. Uggg lol uggg I think the message is they're burning a year if they have to.
  3. While they were in first place? I doubt it. I never heard about. Most players and teams put that on the shelf until the offseason ... when they're winning. Otherwise, and especially in our case it's a nightmare. That will be the story all year long instead of focusing on the hockey part. Also puts a tonne of pressure on these guys to perform. Just imagine the media and how fun it will be if JT and/or the team slumps a bit at the start of the year. Total circus.
  4. For me this is the exact general plan I would like to see unfold. Myers and Miller traded. Two younger/tougher more stay at home guys and a young up and coming forward would be gravy on an already full forward group. Allows us to slowly jettison guys like Pearson, Hoglander, Dickinson and maybe even Garland as well over the next two years.
  5. I know for me personally I'll be very unmotivated and confused as a fan. My enjoyment and dedication to the team will drop dramatically until it's figured out.
  6. I suppose. It did not happen though. I don't know how it went but maybe he wasn't even offered to us.
  7. No, I'm not going to lie. I'm starting to fray around the edges. I just hope we do something, and yes it's going to be incredibly hard.
  8. Yeah I hear where you are coming from. I would rather go the 2 year route and see if we can't get 2 RD and proper stability through the line-up along with a couple prospects coming down the pipeline added to the cap space we will have. If that isn't viable then Bo, Petey, and Hughes can still be traded for a King's ransom in 2-3 years to do a proper rebuild. Selling Petey, and Hughes right now for lottery tickets to hopefully get a Petey and Hughes just doesn't make much sense. We've already completed that step. They are only 22. Time to build around them. It would be like Arizona trading Cooley and Geekie.
  9. Nope and that's where you're going astray. Benning is gone, we shouldn't be on his plan anymore. It's a confirmed failure and he's been terminated. We will have Demko or another goalie much longer than 4 years.
  10. That's very true. We need to add a right defender but we shouldn't be signing any other unnecessary players unless we are building for the future or it's a short deal. Currently our top 9 is completely full. We should be adding minimum salary 4th liners on one or two year deals until hopefully some prospects jump into positions as our dead cap finally falls off the table. In the meantime who cares. This is what patience is for. Accept we screwed up in the JB era, we've had 3-5 years or horrible hockey and these things take some time to fix. We've currently got lots and lots of players in the forward group. Why burn through more cap on bad deals that hurt us in the future again. We need to take the pedal off the metal for a bit. Kuzmenko Miller Boeser Pearson Bo Podkolzin Dickinson Petey Garland Hoglander UFA Lockwood Aman/Karlsson
  11. One person on this board is a huge putz and it is not I.
  12. I don't know how some folks can be so willfully blind to this fact. They say things like how will we replace his offence, and even with regards to Myers the same thing goes, who plays his minutes. Who cares? No one should be caring how this team fares in the next two years. It's all about turning the ship around and doing good hockey things, building the prospect base up and forming a direction for the future. Typical Canuck fans just willing to ride off in a blaze of fizzling glory to nowhere.
  13. I believe the scouting staff is all different as well as the drafting position and needs and even who is making the decisions. I wouldn't necessarily believe it's the same situation or people.
  14. Yeah c'mon RWJC. No way we should be allowing our management to gamble on the future just for kicks. Our luck is horrible. 90% guarantee Miller is hurt if we go this route and we get zero back. It's little unintelligent moves like this that add up to make us a crap team. We gotta stop doing it. It reminds me of my brother who leaves his keys in weird places to see if he can remember where he put them. It almost cost him his job the other day. I hate the dead cap too. Another series of little mistakes that adds up huges but like you I would also take the first for retention. We're paying it anyway regardless of where he plays but we need those picks.
  15. Yup if we want some more toughness and some cheap roster players this is where they need to be in the line-up.
  16. I don't know. I was pretty sick of watching him flying around not using his teammates at all and wasting a roster spot. I'm very glad he's out of the org. I think he's absolutely useless at the NHL level.
  17. Next step for Me_ after keeping Miller. Cotton jersey's would lead to more comfort and comfort = confidence and therefore more confidence = Cup ... Boom! homerun and that's how hockey teams are built.
  18. Thanks, much appreciated. So we got a tiny bit of wiggle room but we need some bottom 6 help and a RD pretty badly. Pearson Miller Boeser Kuzmenko Horvat Podkolzin Dickinson Petterson Garland Hoglander UFA/Lammikko UFA/Lockwood Aman? Hughes Schenn OEL Myers Rathbone/UFA Dermott Burroughs Demko Martin Even with limited monies I think it's obvious we need to bring in at least one RD while filling out the rest of the forwards with min salary type contracts ... and maybe Chiasson gets another year lol.
