  1. I'll go Nazar, Minty, Ohgren, Kulich.
  2. Yeah I agree, he definitely plays with fiery emotion and shows a huge desire to win hockey games. Those are absolutely great traits but there is far more to leadership on a sports team. Not to say that he doesn't posses some of those other traits too but it's not even remotely just a sprit competition.
  3. The fact that someone actually thinks they're an accurate judge of leadership qualities between two hockey players through their tv set is hilarious in itself. It really makes the rest of the rants nonsensical from the get go. Especially when he's calling out a guy like Bo with zero knowledge of what goes on behind closed doors, what they're saying at games, how they approach practice, the conversations they have with their teammates. You know ... leader type stuff. Ludicrous.
  4. How many of those teams are completely capped out and out of the playoffs at the same with no money to improve?
  5. This is exactly it. We have to stop making stoopid hairbrained decisions like who cares if we're wasting money because the cap is goin up. That's why we're always against the cap with no flexibility and without the ability to enhance the team as needed from year to year. Then we end up in mediocrity hope for a run mode. Purposely accepting a contract is going to be bad or cost you for longer than half of the contract before you sign it. Not good.
  6. I don't mind him at all. I think he'd be great on a third pairing in a year or two while honing his game. Hughes and OEL hopefully playing with a couple of steady stay at home defenders and a third one on LD partnered with a young player in Lundqvist capable of putting up offence from the right side. Sometimes these types of young players do very well in a sheltered support role. It's also nice to be able to put out offensive guys on both sides of D if you're behind in a game. Not as a primary asset mind you but as a tertiary part of a deal I think he's still a high IQ defence prospect with a good future. There is a difference between some old offensive guy who simply can't play D and a 21 year old kid still getting used to North America.
  7. Exactly, scour CDC for negative viewpoints that rile up the fans. Compile some stats to back that up. Write a tweet calling down the Canucks and management and call it a day. That's what I see from him ... but I digress. It's back to trade Miller time! To clarify for the guy whom I respect as a poster who called me out I don't think I'm smarter than the guys who do this for a professional living generally but if there is someone on there at the bottom who is a cling on and just a dirt bag reporter without a solid background in hockey for me that's him. He obviously worked hard to engrain himself but he's slimly. There is a lot of reporting with social media these days that's just hacky and subpar. Anyways back to the topic at hand.
  8. It's actually really unfortunate the way they've set up the CBA and how GM's conduct business. It basically results in paying good good players like Miller who are at that 27-30 range way more than they deserve in order to compete and acquire top notch services. Then those contracts almost always hurt their teams in the end. Of course when the come into the league as ELC's and put up 20-30 goals or what not then they are really underpaid on that end. Really sucks actually.
  9. I'll probably get some slack from some folks but if he goes to a contender I see him dropping back to 65-70 points without all the opportunity and TOI he received last year. It couldn't have gone much better in that regard. I mean sheeet if he goes to the Rangers Zibanejad is in his PP spot and has tenure plus a better shot. Also Panarin, Kreider, and Fox, to share time with. He might not even make pp1. They also play a style where defence is a concept, not just do whatever the hell you want.
  10. Cheaper and a full two years younger. Probably a better goal scorer and more of a natural center and more renowned for his face-offs. It's decisions like this that I feel need to me made with the percentages and future in mind. Too many people hoping Miller bucks the norms but in hockey two years is a massive difference in our window of opportunity for this team when you're paying big bucks. However Miller is the better player right now. Definitely a fair point to question though.
  11. I've been 100% on the trade Miller wagon but if we re-sign him I will support new managements decision. I do have faith in them as they haven't done anything negative yet. I would hope to hell that some other major moves are made in conjunction though. I personally don't see anyway this team doesn't stall out unless we trade Bo if that isn't the case though.
  12. I'm not going to lie. I don't really like him as a choice. Too Myersey for me. I'm wary of big lanky giants now.
  13. Sure would be nice to add a second rounder somehow.
  14. Well maybe you can educate me further because I never heard of this guy before 2/3 years ago. As far as I can tell he was hired as VP of communications and public relations officer. Not exactly a hockey job with hockey experience and dedication like Emilie Castonguay. From Drance's Linked In proflie: VP, Communications and Public Relations Florida Panthers Jan 2017 - Jul 20192 years 7 months Sunrise, FL Shape the strategic communications priorities of the organization as senior communications officer, reporting directly to Florida Panthers executive management. Lead the Communications and Public Relations Department, a hybrid department with portfolios in traditional media relations, strategic communications and digital media content operations, including: social media, video production, FloridaPanthers.com and Panthers Vision. Nice try! Also as far as I can tell he doesn't work for the Canucks, he writes crappy hate filled, bait clicky, low hanging fruit, tweets and articles for The Athletic, probably when he realized he could spew a bunch of regurgitated hockey crap he picked up along the way. But sure if it makes you happy he's infinitely smarter than me at hockey. He's just a complete Schmuck and a disingenuous fraud in my books. I guess I have different standards but writing for Canucks Army or The Athletic isn't some big badge of hockey knowledge imo. Just to be clear: Boo for Drance!
  15. So let me get this straight. Actual hockey experience is meaningless?
  16. Lol whatever he's a complete goof. I disagree. He might be good at looking at spread sheets but I don't believe he's a life long hockey fan. Lots of stuff he says makes it seem like he learned from EA hockey or transferred a love of baseball or something. No big deal. To each their own. He does come up with some decent news tidbits so there is that.
  17. Drance is a complete idiot who has never played a sport in his life. He should be writing a knitting column or something.
  18. Perfect. Myers on the third pair where his size and lower minutes become a plus instead of a liability.
  19. Yeah I find this as well but you described it better than I usually do. He's super skilled and even fun to watch but for all his dipsy doodling it often ends with a crazy angle shot on net or a spinning shot pass just behind the net or across the crease to no one. He gets a decent amount of points though so he must be doing something right.
  20. Miller ... God ... they're both mythical creatures at this point.
  21. Add Demko and another first at least lol. Fair enough I guess. This is a lot different than trading for say last year's first. I don't see anyone handing him over for anything less than an entire hockey team + futures. You can hope but winning that lottery is also completely unrealistic but yeah we got about a 1-3% chance I suppose. I wouldn't lose much sleep over it though.
  22. No team is trading that first. I'd give up on that pipe dream. We're not getting Berard lol.
