  1. With an outside chance to win a round or two with a hot goalie.
  2. Thank you. I have to laugh at these people. Teams try to get better all the time. We have no clue what they will do to achieve that.
  3. These are the types of people that turn into Benning Bashers. Look at this guy already laying down the hate groundwork for no conceivable reason at all. Probably feeling a sense of loss now that he can't bash Benning anymore. Pathetic. These types make these sites unbearable at times.
  4. 1000% Couldn't agree more. We would likely bring in some players if tearing down but I ran out of ink. Spot on about the impatient Canadian fanbase accepting the mediocrity continually thrust their way. Like you said a few deals, starting with JT and with the eye of re-opening our competitive window gradually over several years should be the goal with respect to the landscape of the team.
  5. Exactly, pick a plan and stick with it !!! I have zero interest in trying to just pick up the pieces from what JB was doing. Yeah I've been on the HF Boards (spit) lately looking at the other teams sites. Besides the absolute moronic collection of asshats on the Canucks boards still bashing Benning in every second post there are quite knowledgeable and actively dedicated posters from other teams. After perusing teams that could be in the hunt for Miller I'm also going to check out the 10-14 teams that draft before us and see who the Ducks, Sharks, Jackets, Iles, and Jets, are looking at. Should maybe give us a better idea of who we might be looking at for pick 15.
  6. I think you've raised some real interesting points here Jimmy and maybe the best option as you say is a teardown and if we trade Miller, we should trade Bo too. I think that's what your argument boils down to as a lot of the other players have similar fates in both plans. Dickinson, Poolman, Pearson, and Myers, are gone in both. Demko, Petey, Hughes, Pods, Rathbone, Klimovich stay in both. Lammikko, Lockwood, Highmore, Dermott, Burroughs, Schenn, are somewhat inconsequential. They can go or stay in both scenarios and they would be cheap placeholders. Bo, Garland, and Boeser could be traded for assets although Boeser doesn't get you much right now. Hard to say what Garland gets but he's also young and could play a role in either scenario. However I would argue these players add a lot of skill and keep us building competitively while we retool our roster. Hoglander is spinning in the wind imo. Anything could happen with him. I don't think management is particularly enthralled. I prefer keeping Bo and trying to stay competitive and build the team up but I do have a better grasp on your stance. It does have a good amount of merit and I wouldn't be blown away if that happened. Hoglander Petey Podkolzin Pearson Lammikko Chiasson Highmore Sutter Karlsson Lockwood Aman Klimovich ouch though, poor Bruce there it ain't
  7. I agree ... maybe Bo doesn't want to be here for a mini rebuild. If not by all means he should be traded for a bounty as well. On the Rags sites fans are targetting Bo as an ideal target. They feel they were undone because of their lack of a good match up center to play the hard minutes. However when it comes to Bo vs Miller the full two years age difference is a massive difference when it comes to our timeline.
  8. Well you can't just go from 0 to 60 instantaneously, you have to build up. Which is what we're doing. Also, we are retooling, it's close to a rebuild/teardown but we've already got the core blocks. It would be absolutely pointless to throw away a couple of incredible pieces on purpose just because fans are sour about losing Miller.
  9. Totally missing the point though. Point being they already have several high caliber elite performers signed to long term deals that they've relied on to win the division and make the conference finals. We have one (OEL) sometimes struggling defenseman that helped us miss the playoffs by two points and we have zero cap space on top of that. The Rags are poised to make a run for several years and should be looking to maximize their chances while we have no money, no prospects, and very few options to improve. Us throwing money to chase the same is like lightning money on fire and throwing it in the river while making wishes to the hockey Gods. lol ... what on earth was that?
  10. Also Zibanejad but he wasn't that noticeable I guess.
  11. I suppose if we have to ride out Dickinson's contract maybe it's best we keep him and then put that combined 5.9 m towards a higher end player in 2 years time. With the country club comments who knows lol. I too have faith in management so we should see some stuff happening soon.
  12. And they kept him as Captain 3 years as a plubicity stunt? Talk about going out of your way to needlessly bash people. Good grief lol
  13. Agreed, you got three 3 big contracts right at the peak. They should be going all in. They have probably seen the risks of waiting for the youth to develop after falling to Tampa. Exactly the type of team that could use a Miller.
  14. It's just after a ECF loss of course but Rags fans are active on different boards looking to beef up the roster.
  15. That's some big value. I would do that. 3 players with a good ceiling of potential. 2 are already full time NHL'ers. They are all 22 and under. I don't think NY would do this but I would be all in.
  16. lol, of course that kid is way out of his league. He'll make up anything in an attempt to justify keeping Miller. Yawwwwn ... newbies.
  17. Here here! Well said. An absolute joke that people are dissing him. I really agree on the point that you can't see what the Captain is doing through your TV set. Not near enough to make judgement anyway. It's laughable and shows people are just talking out of their arse.
  18. Yes we have to close to or the very worst in the league. Simply atrocious. Sometimes it looks like tthe Canucks D have never played hockey before.
  19. Yeah exactly. Our right side D is a Dog's breakfast. It was literally painful to watch them fumbling in our own zone, forcing passes, and turning over the puck, only to watch Demko bail them out time and time again. I don't know how anyone can actually like what they saw last year. It was absolutely atrocious. I would have to question if they're actually watching the games. You know you're flat out brutal when your own GM calls you out with sheer bluntness in the post season presser.
  20. I think Pearson is a good player. He has been payed fairly for what he brings, and he has delivered adequate value. He is what I call an honest player. I love his heaviness on the boards and his ability to play north south hockey. This is also another name for responsibility when the games ramp up .. like in the playoffs. However I do question where he fits in on this team. Is he a top 6 player? I don't really think so and his $3.25mil is a little expensive for what he adds to the third line. We also have guys like Hoglander, Dickinson, and Garland that can play there. I think we might actually be better served saving the cap space and filling that role with either youth or toughness at a cheaper price. We need to actually start penciling players into specific roles instead of this Swiss army knife approach JB was using that has Dickinson signed for two more years as well. Of course if Miller goes we may just need Pearson to play "warm body" again in the top 6 for a year or two. Tough call. I definitely can see where you're coming from though.
  21. Is this an indication that the Stars intend to remain competitive, or is this something else?
  22. Kekaleinen is a smart guy. I totally agree they shouldn't be trading for Miller at this point in their timeline. From the Canucks point of view though we should be pursuing every avenue even if they turn out a no go as this appears to be.
