  1. Yep a Center or D preferably unless maybe a Lekkerimaki slips through. Going to be some exciting prospects at our pick. Most exciting draft in years as far as viewing and suspense go. Should be super wide open from 5 on for Canucks fans enjoyment.
  2. I extremely dislike that idea. There's at least 10 really good players after 5 and a big chance there are some real gems that slip through there. Would way rather have a shot at one of those guys than 2 half ass picks later on. If we trade down we're going to miss the very same guys they're talking about like Kulich, and wind up with some force fed pick like Pickering or Snuggerud.
  3. Actually they can. The Canucks and the players union signed off on that when the signed the new CBA agreement. So no, NHL would not have lost in court. It would be thrown out immediately.
  4. Petterson, Hughes, Boeser, Demko, Podkolzin, Hoglander, Rathbone, Lockwood, Karlsson, Klimovich, are alright though too.
  5. Haha, maybe somewhere in the middle. Wasn't Shirokov one of the leading scorers or something? Edit: 24th 2 years ago amongst these beauties. The quality of this league is nothing to write home about. And this year Notice Goldobiin only 14 points and Curtis Valk 12 back.
  6. Ha ha, yeah he's incredibly informative but I think he takes things way to 'literal', as you say. Nailed it. It's like he doesn't realize when GM's talk it's kind of like a politician. They say what they would like to do but rarely does it turn out exactly that way. Of course the GM landscape is filled with contradiction so I don't really expect their tweets to be binding or something they need to follow at all costs. He seems to think these tweets are like personal promises to him. It's like when GM's say we'd like to get younger and they sign a 31 year old fourth liner for two years. Even something slightly contradictory and there is a big uproar from fans who can't understand why they moved on from a 27 year old, even though he sucked and can't play defence, forecheck, or PK. Alf what?
  7. Yeah I agree. He likes to shut every possible trade idea down if possible, especially if there is some vague tweet he can bend to his viewpoint. I like you see a team in a huge market area with crazy talent (insane talent actually) on the team and on the horizon, and insane amounts of cap space and future promise. No one but JT knows what motivates him but 7 years building with that team would look mighty attractive to me as far as options go. He would jump right into a team with arguably the best building blocks in the league as the defacto 'go to guy'?
  8. lol, damn he was good, yeah they changed the rules cause of him. The Kaprizov's and Panarin's are few and far between though. Far more then the guys names I can't remember. From what I've seen I'm not expecting anything too great.
  9. I don't think this guy is any near a Kaprizov. We're not even sure he's an NHLer yet.
  10. Player development in Buffalo. Impressive Komi. Ha Just joking. I like the hires. Just kees getting better and better.
  11. That is true but they do have an abundance of talent. Maybe that's the one piece they say heck go for it. He might be a price they are willing to pay for a piece it looks like they are missing. Starting to heat up!
  12. If they want Myers I'm over the moon. They can have him for a small kickback. I'll gladly take a second on top of what we get for Miller. I'm at the point I can't bear watching Myers gift the puck on the opposition's stick anymore.
  13. It's something I haven't been focused on due to the myriad of other more important/pressing needs but yes we should be lining up a "serious" replacement for Demko in the next couple years. I don't think we need to start spending high picks but someone with Clark's blessing this year or next might be prudent. Goalie's can be found in any round. Good call. We have been blessed with terriffic goaltending for well over a decade now.
  14. Be careful my friend. One moment you're on CDC divulging secrets... the next thing you know you're betting over/under on the Canucks. Just like "Petey" Rose.
  15. I don't think you let your (good right now) goalie situation 4 years out stop you from putting together a team. As agent says you need a succession plan in place regardless whether we draft a goalie or two in the upcoming drafts or trade for one in a couple years time. It's something that every team and GM needs to have on their radar. Demko isn't aging out either and they could realistically re-sign him. If worse comes to worse than one must go FA. Edit: I should add I don't think many teams have solid A+ goalie plans for more than 4 years. It's a very unique position. We do have several guys in the development stage and I would say we are currently pretty strong in goal. It wouldn't hurt to get a higher guy in the pipeline soon though.
  16. I agree. With Miller, Boeser, and Garland, possibly being trade bait we may need to have some holes filled for a year or two. So we definitely shouldn't be paying a single dime to move him unless we suddenly have a full top 9. If so for me this could come down to who they like more as a third liner/2nd line tweener between Hoglander and Pearson. I would think someone will want Pearson for a modest pick, especially at the next deadline. Although mll probably has a quote proving me wrong.
  17. If it's truly as dire as you guys proclaim then we should just hang on to him for 2 years and wait it out. No way I'm paying a second, which we need, for 2 years of tiny cap space. I like to think positive though. Maybe just maybe he is tradeable for less at some point, maybe he plays better next year. If not, oh well we need that cap space more in 2 years anyway.
  18. So every single contract needs to have a second included with it? There is no way this plays out where Arizona simply ends up needing a player they can put on the ice who can somewhat play hockey? Are you saying they won't be trying to acquire hockey players at all, just second round cap dumps and minimum wage players off the wire?
  19. To me that just says they're looking for picks and prospects but I don't see it saying they are not allowed to add a player for free if they want to. I guess Arizona cannot add players anymore unless they come with a pick. But okay you're right. Your quotes are the be all end all and above reproach. My bad I retract that statement.
  20. Some of you guys just need to shout down everything even though it's just a thought to throw out as possibility. Let's say they have they have a crap team with barely a roster full of players. At that point maybe they desire a player like him just to ice a team and have a warm body that can be relied on. Maybe we offer a 4th or 5th or Dipietro as you suggest. If it offends people so much I'll retract the idea.
  21. Ummm, yeah, so? We're talking about them taking Dickinson to fill out their roster for nothing.
  22. Good point. They picked up a guy like Nick Ritchie in an attempt to fill out the roster. Dickinson would be a guy that can play in multiple positions, brings some leadership, and isn't crazy expensive. And like you said they can flip him at the deadline next year. I don't think buffalo takes him. They are quickly filling out their roster with quality youth. They could be a force in a couple of years. Maybe Seattle though.
  23. As long as it's not with us I'd love to watch him get embarrassed on the ice and then pull the entitlement card on some other team.
