  1. Holy crap. Dumbest idea of the year candidate. And that's saying something. Will not read.
  2. I don't know about that. I'm loving getting to know the first 15-20 picks. It would be great to have another one imo. Garland is cool but he's so tiny and unique. Are his spinoramas going to work in the playoffs. Idk
  3. Imo move Miller and Myers if possible. That's $11.2m ... a good start to getting rid of our cap problems. Of course that really depletes us in key positions so we'd have to get a replacement or two back in that deal and/or be prepared to face an uphill/unknown battle next year. As @stawns has mentioned Myers plays tonnes of minutes so he'd be hard to replace but that would be the plan via trade possibly with that newly acquired cap space. There is also free agency but the timing is all over the place and could leave us standing in a game of musical chairs. Either way Myers is gone in two years anyway. I don't know if I'm overly concerned that we may struggle there until permanent replacements are found. One way or other we probably end up paying the price for neglecting that position for 10 years straight, but we're also not really expecting to be competitive for 2 years anyway. However if that's not feasible, or even if it is I'm also looking to move one of Pearson or Hoglander for sure. We've got to stop acquiring random players just because they are not bad at what they do and their salary isn't that bad. We actually need a spot for them to play. So, is Pearson a third liner, or is he a second liner, where does the management see him playing? Same thing with Hoglander. For me they're both middling pieces. We also have Podz who is occupying a spot no matter what so we start running out of positions and money for these spare part players. They are definitely too expensive and don't equate to the fourth line either. And that's my morning ramble. Also I just saw some clueless poster above call Chiasson our new Motte. lol I'm just going to continue ignoring everything that poster says.
  4. And mine was a joke. Are you really questioning the Sedin's fitness? I must have something more important to do (like stare off into space) cause that's just dumb.
  5. Okay ... so no to Kyrou then. Yeah he'd be a great pickup. That's the kind of thing we need to do. Somehow get some younger players that can grow with Petey.
  6. Maybe we acquire a couple picks and include say a future second or third and/or Hoglander, who could be on the way out anyway. Maybe we take an extra player back with acquired cap space or distribute a tertiary piece. Either way I don't think we're looking at anything that complicated. Mainly it's taking a good player and his cap hit for a smallish price due to the situation.
  7. Nice observations. I can totally see where you're coming from and I'll be taking that into account more moving forward. Of course there was no world jrs this year so scouting is going to be on everything else. I've been in the 2022 Draft thread lately you get some very good observations from all across the spectrum (guys like highonhockey and hammertime) which includes the entire body of work. Not just the world junior tourney. These guys explain the whys and why nots and where their viewings and and such are based, as well as limitations. So I'll definitely be taking a holistic approach this year. Any favs at 15 so far?
  8. I had it taped and came home from work to watch. I thought for sure we would pick the next best available. My jaw dropped and I tried to throw my remote but it stayed in my hand by my side. I recall saying Juolevi over and over again in different pronunciations like I was in a catatonic state trying to make sense of the world. I must have stood there in disbelief for about 20 minutes until I got a phone call from my bro. lol ... good times
  9. The only caveat I have to that is Canadian World Júnior players. You see a lot of these guys playing on the 3rd, and 4th lines, or not even standing out turn into terrific players. Like Brayden Point, Jeff Carter, Corey Perry, Shea Weber, etc.. It seems like these tournaments actually push these guys to become better still after they realize they have some competition. I remember watching the draft rankings and accepting we took a defence instead of MT. However when I went and watched his game footage I was absolutely appalled how he covered his front net area. It's like he continually lost his mark and positioning on purpose so he could wander around and claim innocence on any goals or accountability. I was very concerned.
  10. You got it exactly right about being further away then closer. This team has pretty much been pure rubbish for the past 9 years. No where near contender status and not even in the same ball park. Our little push towards the end was cute and fun. We even got to enjoy a special season performance from JT Miller, and a couple rising stars. However that is a far, far cry from making and contending in the playoffs regularly against the likes of Colorado, St. Louis, Calgary, and soon to be Kings and Ducks. If we would have had BB all year we may have achieved a Nashville or Dallas type result. Dallas did alright but they're in no position to be signing Miller contracts either and seem resolved to letting their big free agent Klingberg go chase big bucks elsewhere. I feel for guys like @bishopshodan because I want it bad too but simply wishing this team is close won't make it so. There aren't many short cuts in the NHL and this isn't one of them. I know it's hard to be patient after this long but that's the whole point. This team has to make the right moves for once instead of always chasing the Miller's for short term gain and fan approval. It's such an ugly cycle. Unfortunately it's a problem in the Canadian cities. The fans always want it now so it's easy to sell them on continual mediocrity. P.S. What's up with the new emoticons? Not a big fan. They took away my favorite "Sedin" one. And what is the Ukraine one supposed to mean, where would you use that? Okay, okay what's a step up from first world problems. lol Hopefully this war ends and they change that one into a Bruce there it is one.
  11. Well that's the kinds of conversations adults have. You're in a thread discussing the 2nd overall pick in the upcoming draft from the NJ DevilHughes. Of course that's going to come up.
  12. Not a chance. He's either traded or re-signed before the season starts. Our management isn't stupid. They know better. That quote is just posturing for the other GM's.
  13. How can they? They're in front of everyone. The only reason not to do this regularly is injuries, location, and weather. Just like any other activity it has to be convenient for in-season training. It's still good for fitness, dexterity, and more obviously.
  14. Yep, he's a total and complete chump. Don't want an entitled, whiny, quitter like that anywhere near my team.
  15. I've played at fairly significant levels and trained accordingly. I'm baffled by the notion that some people think a strong aerobic base/running isn't beneficial/necessary for being a good hockey player/athlete. That's utter nonsense. Partying all night and doing crazy drugs = bad for hockey Running / Grouse Grind = good for hockey
  16. Yeah the more I think about it the more I think we should be keeping him. Unless Miller is going for a young LD. OEL is the exact sort of double up you want to throw at teams. If OEL didn't spend 75% of his time helping Myers exit the zone he'd be looking more like the stud he is. We saw a better representation the last third of the season. It usually takes guys a while to adapt but I bet he'll be very good next year. Hopefully with a new partner.
  17. Heeeeeee's baaaaaaaack! Step 1 complete! Should start getting pretty exciting in a month or so.
  18. Yeah I agree. Some people will really bitch about anything. A bunch of windbags that really have no clue what they're talking about. This is from Bruce on NHL.com: "Let's understand that last year I signed a two-year deal with them and had these out clauses, but still the whole deal was the two-year deal, and we both are honoring the two-year deal, and I'm very happy with it," Boudreau said. "I'm comfortable with the direction of our team. I want the team to be successful, and if it isn't successful then I'm taking a lot of the blame here for this. I have no fear of going in with one year. I don't feel it's a lame duck. I feel like I've got the support of the management, and we're going to go in and we're going to put our best foot forward, and I'm not going to worry about anything else other than the team, and contracts will not come up at all during the course of the year."
  19. Ummm, isn't that the same thing? Bruce said they ran out of time at the end of the season. Did he also forget where the dressing room is? Maybe he lost both at the same time.
  20. Alfie my boy. You made the cut too! This deserves a celebration! Delorme has job protection +4
