[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Gawdzukes replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Haha, me too. I'd love too get those two on the team. It would definitely address some issues. Just picture Scott Walker working with those two. Lammikko has been a re-sign for sure. Terrific pick up. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Gawdzukes replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I'd likely make that trade with a first and Lundqvist as a primary pieces along with a good forward prospect and/or a roster player of subsequent value. You're likely going to have to assume some risk in order to obtain a top prospect. They're not just going to trade a Makar straight up. Of course if you're looking at next years playoffs then Schnieder probably isn't the right call either. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

Hey JM. The debate continues lol. You're wrong by the way. Ha, no just joking. It's been interesting especially how the team has kept it's level of play and winning ways up. I have to concede it definitely makes the idea of keeping Miller more sound logically and gives the management team a lot to think about. It's tough on CDC I find we try so hard to defend our points we end up losing sight of what's best for the team sometimes. I'd like to think we're kind of like a hive mind similar to Allvin and co discussing the pros and cons of such a big decision. There's definitely some good analysis on both sides of the coin. If Miller does get signed they are going to have to play one of Petey, or Miller on the wing in the top 6. Even then our winger depth is super thin as it is. A lot depends on the development of Podkolzin and Hoglander or whether Hoglander, Garland, Boeser, or a combination get traded. At some point we're going to need some more consistent 5v5 contributors there if we want to compete with the big boys. I like Pearson but I don't think he's a top 6 guy. We need more playmaking ability. I think Pearson is tradeable this year if they want, he's a good piece and the price isn't too bad. As it stands we have one top 6 and four 3rd line/2nd line in a pinch tweeners, although Pods and Hogz definitely have top 6 potential. I have yet to see a line-up with Miller making $8.5 that doesn't look shoddy with UFA penciled in, guys like Lammikko on the third, or Klimovich (lol), and even Lockwood on it. That worries me. The entire RD of course is an area that will require much attention in the near future. If we could somehow sign Manson or get a suitable player in trade this summer it goes a long way to helping that situation. The bottom 6 also needs a complete overhaul or revamp, and we may need to address the PK as well. Not that all teams don't experience similar types of troubles but these are some of my concerns. It's possible we only see one big move made this summer whether it's Boeser, Miller, Garland, or Bo, and then more moves made the following year. I hope it's fairly significant though. -

Okay. That's realistic you clearly understand the landscape quite well. The options are somewhat limited I agree (the more so when you impose them yourself though), and probably more than would be in an average negotiating period. However there are 31 other teams in the NHL and all but 2 or 3 should or feel they can win the CUP in the next 7-8 years. Miller is the best player available on the planet. Anyone of them could desire Miller and we only need one team to trade with. But yes, Vancouver definitely has some aspects JT could consider quite desirable as a compromise. I just hope Allvin and co. don't carry that approach and limit their scope and options. -

So Vancouver is literally the only team that can afford him or has any potential. Should be able to get him cheap then. Hooray for us. Close er up Vintage. -

Miller gets the biggest return of assets and saves the most cap. It's a sensible solution that addresses our plethora of problems better than the other options available. -

So childish. Again you're missing the point entirely just to bomb the conversation. Congrats. Whatever carry on. Gawd it's annoying and petty. -

It's exactly how we got Miller. You have no idea what the price would be in reality. The point you keep trying to ignore is it's quite possible a good player like Theodore becomes available, and at a reduced rate. That's it, end of story. Just because it doesn't fit your narrative it doesn't mean you have to stomp your feet and pretend it's not true. You can still argue to keep Miller at the same time as admitting obvious truths in order to facilitate the conversation. The thought of getting a good player on the cheap for once would be swell. -

Gawdzukes replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Wow, talk about hard to have a conversation with a guy. @aGENT suggests players may be available according to media. Asked to provide an article does so promptly and then HKSR completely moves the goalposts and starts attacking the article. Well that's fine in and of itself. However, can't it just be acknowledged he has a fair point without just attacking the poster himself at every turn? Teams can and have made cap room for good players. Why wouldn't they? Teams such as Vegas, Tampa, and others do lose or sacrifice players due to cap constraints and a wealth of assets. If teams have available cap space good players can sometimes be found for very good prices. Why even argue that, wouldn't it be better to have a basic understanding of both sides of the argument? -

To me that just sends up crazy red flags. Maybe we should bring in Bobrovsky to back up Demko as well since we seem to have unlimited cap in this thread. I've said this before but to me it seems obvious that the team is poorly constructed if you're paying a third line center more than $6m. -
[Proposal] Moving Miller and Boeser again...

I'd be all over those trades. No way either team bites though. I would also take Scheifle and a first. lol. -

You're right. No one in the league can afford Miller. I think he's probably out of the league in a years time unfortunately. Probably have to try for SHL. It's a shame for Miller and family that Russia is no longer an option. Maybe things will clear up by then. One can only hope. If not for J.T. at least for his wife and kids sake. -

I guess onw could ask will the young core's growth exceed Miller's eventual decline and/or will time be the winner/loser? -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Gawdzukes replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Sure, fair enough lol. I wasn't arguing that just pointing out what seems obvious to everyone else. $9m in cap space would definitely be very valuable to the team even if you can't see it. I'm thankful we have hockey people in place that at least understand the implications of making those decisions. -

Reading comprehension man. You asked what we would possibly use $9m on. There are lots of things which could be addressed, which I listed. Obviously the $9 million doesn't cover it all which further shows the need for wise spending moving forward. Obviously, or so I thought lol. -

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Gawdzukes replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
For real lol? How about re-signing some of the assets received in a Miller trade, a 3rd line center, some toughness/grit, some PK'ers, an elite player to play with Petey in 2-4 years time, a Pearson replacement for Bo, or a RD to fix our right defence? Are you really going to argue/complain that $9M in cap space isn't useful in the NHL on any player besides J.T. Miller? Uhhh... what is right! -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Gawdzukes replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
That's what I would do. Concentrate on surrounding Petey, Hughes, and Demko with as much talent as possible. Put a definite long term plan into place as opposed to winging it yet again. Garland is good but I don't know that he's a fit in our top 6 moving forward. Size is also an issue. Trading both he and Miller resets our trajectory, gives us much needed cap flexibility, and necessary assets to grow with our core. I'm hoping his ask is astronomical so we're committed to moving him and doing this the right way. -

I'm fine with picking the better player. In fact I insist on it. And once again it was Benning who waived him, not Green. Oh sorry you did say co. You don't just create an NHL roster spot as a placeholder hoping a mediocre player who has outlived his ELC suddenly turns into a player. By that logic Brisebois should be on the team too. Why not Jordan Subban? The thing I don't get is why some people think they know better regarding fringe no experience players than the 10-15 coaches who watch them everyday plus the 15+ management team as well. Not to mention it's proved to be right call as well, even in hindsight. People are mad that fourth liners are mediocre and we got the best one out of our available choices. Okay whatever. People be trying way too hard to keep hating Green. -

Basically a bunch of uneducated whiners who don't understand Green has nothing to do with Chiasson. The former GM Jim Benning was responsible for bringing him in to begin with, and he's also the one responsible for assigning garbage Gadj to the minors when he got waived. In addition, Boudreau also has the choice not to use Chiasson but he continually chooses him above other available options. Boudreau likes him even more than Green. I'm still not shedding a tear because two garbage hockey players are now stinking it up on the lowly Sharks and Flyers. Get a grip haters. He's a fourth line role player.
