  1. Well that certainly seems like an odd decision Brucie boy. They've got a day between games and then 3 days off before they play Vegas.
  2. I think we've already seen the benefit of having the baby Nucks nearby. Player movement is so much easier. It will be helpful in trying out and planning for more youth in the future. I especially like the idea of inter-changing fourth line and bench players from the farm.
  3. You certainly want to be part of that group who has access to 91 cost controlled players. The picks themselves aren't overly valuable themselves therefore it's valuable to have as many as you can so you hit on one of these free players from time to time. I personally only get excited about rounds 1 and 2 but how many relevant NHL players are in rounds 4-7 in the NHL? I'll just guess at least 75 - 100 out of 736. That's a healthy chunk of players or 2-3 per team. In the past I haven't really cared about acquiring picks but I think we need to look at that. It's about time we actually stock the cupboards with more players that we've drafted. That means getting rid of a Motte here and there when it makes sense. As in they're going to UFA anyway. One thing we need to do imo is to gather multiple assets. We do too much penciling of players into future line-ups with no alternate plans whatsoever believing everyone is going to reach their potential. Sutter will be in management!
  4. Yeah I agree 100%, it's funny. I think some people are just completely hung up on things like whether Miller stays or goes, or if we're good enough to compete as is. So much so they over analyze and make wide sweeping generalizations that cloud their judgement. You'll see comments like these not surprisingly from those that are just hard wired into making the playoffs or those that were on the hate Green bandwagon and are convinced we're a top 5 team now. They have so much emotionally invested (one guy big bucks) that every move is seen as an assault on their position. At the end of the day management didn't think he is as much of a Canuck legend they did. They were pissed at his over-valuation and traded his ass, or they are simply more invested in building a contender instead of satisfying some impossible playoff run. I think some people should remember we're a middling hockey team with a 20% chance to make the playoffs. Not Colorado or Florida gearing up for a long run. I agree on the rookie GM but like you said the real determining factor will be the big moves in the summer. Not whether we grabbed a fourth or kept a .25 ppg fourth liner for a month in a desperate playoff bid. Priorities! Fingers crossed.
  5. Well you'd be wrong Dermott is not a Hamonic replacement. He's a LD filling a position where we amazingly we had no player at all except a #8 in Hunt. We had 5 RD so Hamonic was an unnecessary piece anyway. A third, a fourth, Motte, no Motte. It doesn't really matter. He wants to go UFA. Be free Tyler, be free. Also, we haven't missed a beat. A good team has to be able to replace 4th line players.
  6. Very we'll said. Glad management has some balls, and wisdom. Balls of wisdom or wisdom balls if you will.
  7. I find it super silly when fans bring this up. It shows they don't really know what they're talking about and they're just stealing garbage twitter or HFboards posts. He didn't literally run out of time this is just stupid people arguing about semantics (of which most people would be shredded on here). Anyone that thinks Benning was picking up groceries or doing laundry and forgot to do his job is just plain stupid and couldn't argue their way out of a wet paper bag. He was describing the UFA landscape and our ability to facilitate cap space. Talk about not using your brain. Numbskulls, Please don't be sucked in by the haters NAZZY, you are better than this!
  8. Yeah I agree JR was likely being overly optimistic to appease the fanbase. He said two or longer. I would allow for longer if one doesn't want to be disappointed. However we have to be close enough to get Petey to re-sign. It's tricky. The team playing so well makes these decisions even tougher ... if that's possible.
  9. Yeah it seems pretty shallow to me to proclaim a city the best. I've travelled around, not as much as some, but enough to know there is beauty everywhere. Finding and enjoying beauty is all what you make it and everywhere offers something different.
  10. These guys are now playing hockey the way I like. No mistakes. That's what makes a team the best. Fun to watch!
  11. It's on sportnet HD for me cause the stupid Leafs are on regular CBC. If you get multiple CBC channels check them maybe?

  13. Totally. I think that RD succession and upgrade plan has to be at the forefront of management's thought process. Our biggest hole right now. It will be costly and may take a year or two so we may have to ride out Myers ... but I hope they move him and replace. Poolman and Dickinson will be hard to move. Not sure if they want to pay someone to take them or maybe buy out Dickinson or trade him with salary retained. Poolman buyout looks ugly. We may be stuck with him as our #7. Hopefully he progresses, he was not bad at times. Sorry my math was off on Pearson. I had it in my mind he was on place for 47 but it's actually 42. I will say 45 is doable riding Miller's wing. I think he's movable in the summer when teams are filling holes on their roster. Especially the fledgling teams like AZ, Buff, Seattle, Ott, may want a stop gap/veteran capable of putting up some points that can play a variety of roles. Those guys might all be on his 7 team block list though.
  14. There is no good solution but both systems suck the life out of the people it shouldn't. It definitely isn't right! I like the theory of communism better but it doesn't work in reality.
  15. For me I understand the sentiment of PeteyBoi. I don't find to it too impressive when someone gets a hugely inappropriate amount of money for doing little to nothing and then gives a little bit back. In my mind it's one of the biggest if not the biggest failures of democracy and society. Unequal distribution of funds and resources mostly built on the backs of others who do the actual work. It probably comes down to jealousy, which I'm trying to come to terms with. Whatever my shortcomings are it's great that people are getting help regardless of where it came from. I can definitely appreciate that. These people have enough money to help solve poverty but yet millions and millions of people still struggle while they just get richer. We need a human salary cap. lol. Anyways I'm also a hypocrite, here is my purchase yesterday.
  16. Or traded. Damn, if CDC can't come to a consensus he's going to UFA for nothing.
