[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Gawdzukes replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
lol, I keep pouring over Rangers assets and articles and saw his name pop up. His stat progression is nice but I guess he's just big, and 20 with a good shot. I don't think I realized he was 20, otherwise that would be damn good, lol. Alrighty, carrying on. Othmann sounds a heck of a lot better. I know Schnieder is preferred by most but I think Lundqvist could very well be the better defender in the long run. In my opinion either is a huge step towards remaking our D, which is paramount to this teams future. Currently we have about 6 forwards that are young, make decent money, and are bonafide NHL players worthy of a spot in almost any NHL team. Petterson, Horvat, Boeser, Podkolzin, Hoglander, and maybe Lammikko. That's 6/12 spots secured. With that I would conclude our forwards are about 50% set. On the other hand we have the defensive side where I would only include Hughes as a young player making fair money who I would think a team wants to build around. That's only 1/6 or 17%. The other hockey position is goaltender and we have Demko, that's gotta be about 80% secure or more. This is why I keep arguing for a Miller trade is because the defence needs to become a respected position for the Canucks again. We can't just keep trotting out rubbish 60% of the time and expect better results. It's impossible to beat the Panthers, Avs, Hurricanes, Rangers, and Penguins, and even the Oilers sometimes this way. I've found sometimes in life if you have a problem you should just actually address it fully and solve it, instead of a bunch of possible solutions. Miller trade does this more than anything. I'm a little tired of throwing half ass solutions out like Hamonic/Poolman, Schmidt, Stetcher, Benn, Garrison, Pouliot, Gudbranson, Biega, Larsson, and on and on. You have to give to get. Lundqvist, Othmann, Chytil, 1st That is something I would seriously consider. -
It can be amazing how little bang you get for your buck in the NHL.

I know Stawns hasn't been the biggest supporter but those players have all been far more valuable than Boeser, and were even better when signed. We are talking about Patrick Kane the Calder, Hart, Art Ross, Conn Smythe, and Ted Lindsay Award ... or is that Evander? It's not really close.

Myopic in the common sense means shortsighted, or not looking at the big picture. It's intended to be polite phrasing actually. -

What's your guys take on Cuyelle? 6,4 210 lb lw with 51 pts in 38 games with Windsor. Be a great replacement for Miller? https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=216311 -

Clearly he has no knowledge of the players involved but has an opinion he grabbed out of thin air. I'm not sure what he's getting at. He's not happy with two good players and a first, apparently the quality of player(s) is inconsequential or something. So I guess he wants like 4 players and 3 picks or something to beat the two players and two picks we got for Kesler ... -

Anything to win a short term argument, doesn't matter if it's logical in the end. Like I pointed out to you yesterday he doesn’t only have to sign a contract with one of the current 6 contenders. There are easily 15 teams with enough good prospects or current elite players he could look to win a Cup with or at least pursue a great end to his career with over the next 7 years. That's really the only stat you should be concerned with not trying to make Miller's mind up for him. Agent: Ummm Hi JT, it's Brian Bartlett, HKSR has informed me your only choices are Van or Boston ... what's it going to be? -

I'm not trying to be a jerk (sorry) just pointing out you have no clue about the words your typing so it's hard to have an honest discussion. At the end of the day I'd take that package any day of the week compared to nothing at all so agree to disagree. I'd also consider it even if Miller was thinking of staying. Also I have no idea why you're suggesting Kravstov will no longer be able to play hockey anymore or something along those lines. -

You obviously don't know how to evaluate hockey trades so unfortunately you won't understand any of these offers. Not at all the same except that they include hockey players and draft picks. -

Who knows what Miller is thinking. A lot of futures on some of those teams. All of them situated in and about where we are or better depending on the vision. -

Good grief Charlie Brown you don't seem to know much about this stuff at all. Generally if players really want to stay somewhere they come out and say stuff like, "I want to be a lifetime Canuck", or "We're going to talk about a long term deal, I'm confident we can get something done". Miller has said none of this. What he's said is carbon cookie cutter responses that mean next to nothing. He may like it here sure but stop trying to pump this false narrative of yours. If anything, he has NOT committed to Vancouver. What does remain are many sensible reasons to leave. You can pretend all you want but I can't see how you can't imagine that's what his ask will be, and what a team might pay him. He'll be the best scoring Center/forward available. You really do like to stick your head in the sand. Nothing wrong for hoping, I think Miller is a great guy and might just sign a reasonable deal here, but you can be realistic too. Chances are he doesn't have to and won't. -

Yeah HF boards material at it's best. Where does this guy get no significant offers from, MS? lol some people -
You don't just look at your roster and play the youngest players no matter what. They actually have to be able to play hockey. It's not remotely close to losing great depth. It's a middling second rounder that's aging out his ELC and can barely contribute at the NHL level. Some people hate Green so much they try to pretend Gadjovich is some massive prospect instead of a dying out breed of hockey player that doesn't score at all, can't skate, can't PK, and fights every once in awhile. Big whoop lol. I'd imagine if Gadj and Chiasson are on the same NHL team Chiasson gets more starts, he's currently the better player in almost every facet of the game.
-
Yep agreed, He can fight but his feet are in quick sand and he can't read the game at all at the NHL level. He's a complete pedestrian out there. I'm glad we didn't waste a spot to hide this guy on the roster. He's borderline useless, surely JR and co can find a better hockey player than that. Well he plays on the crappy Sharks and has only dressed in 28 games and has 2 measly assists. They have injured players and kids in Europe they would play over him in as well. See big mistake, we could have just hid Gadj on the roster for 4 or 5 years until he figured out how to play NHL hockey.

No he isn't, it would take him a year of complaining, crying, and training just to get up to speed again. He blew his chance. Have fun in Russia comrade! -
[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
Gawdzukes replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yes I can see the logic there for sure. After typing it out I looked at the result and it leaves us without a minute muncher there. However, if we are looking to retool next year could be a transition anyway, meaning we possibly suck a bit. I don't think there is any way we're re-signing him in two years. Hamonic, Schenn, Poolman, Burroughs could fill in for a year, with a 3LD signed in ufa. Then the year after next we would use Harmonic's money to dip into free agency. UFA Schneider/Young D trade Burroughs Poolman Woo Unfortunately Poolman has negative value with the length of his contract and a so so 3 pt year. Hamonic is a goof/part-time player this year he'll be impossible to move. If people want to re-sign Miller/Boeser/Bo something has got to give and this move would be proactive based on a retool. I don't know what Benning was thinking with signing all these RD and no LD last year. It's kind of hurting us a bit moving forward. -
[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
Gawdzukes replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think manly because he makes $6m and we have 5 RD in Myers, Hamonic, Schenn, Poolman, and Burroughs. He's going to expire in 2 years, Poolman and Hamonic could already both be tough to get rid of and we're rumored to be in the market for a young RD as well. So quite a lot of reasons actually. It would probably be a really good idea in all actuality if possible. -

There will be 18 games left. 11 games from now. Yes it should be much clearer then ... It's do or die time and definitely not easy. Maybe not even possible.
