  1. I'm putting this loser on ignore. Good riddance. Ahhh, that's better. Edit: Obviously not you @D.B Cooper
  2. I wouldn't but that's just my opinion. I don't think Gads or Mac can process the game at NHL speed whereas Chiasson can. Again, it's just my opinion. I agree though he's definitely upgradeable if the right player is available. Neal can definitely process the game and play Chiasson's spot on the PP if needed. He's 2 and 2 in 18 games while Chiasson has 3 and 3 in 27. Exactly the same output.
  3. That's kind of a struggle for all NHL teams. Cheap players who are fast, hit, aggressive, and score are kind of hard to find, which is why you see guys like Highmore, and Dowling get shots. They've got pieces of that. We're no different than anyone else. I personally like Highmore's hustle, speed, and checking, but unfortunately he's a black hole when it comes to scoring. Dowling is quite skilled I'm impressed by his puck skills and maneuverability, and even PP ability. I doubt either sticks for a long time but you never know. Neal definitely adds skill but I question his work ethic for a 4th line role ... maybe though.
  4. Throughout the years I've played I've found that if you keep winning games the rest will take care of itself. I mean it's all you can really do anyways. As teams close in even slowly those teams ahead of you will start to tighten up and falter. Gotta remember those teams that are getting chased are in a fringe playoff spot for a reason and they can't just necessarily turn it on when pressured. I've found that just when you get there sometimes you even need the help or find yourself challenged by another so called struggling team pushing it's way up the standings.
  5. You're on fire this morning IBatch. lol Good stuff! Yeah people that call Benning dumb for not getting rid of Hamhuis for a crap pick because asset management need to go back to hockey school. Just imagine, we could have had another Stukel, Carl Neil, or Jordan Subban in the mix. Ah, what could have been.
  6. Yeah it makes sense and I'm happy it looks like we're building a big collaborative brain. I never believed Trevor was there as a puppet or familiar face, on his part anyway (he's too serious minded), but someone with experience should be have been hired in one of those two positions. It also should have been a red flag to AQ that there was a disturbance in the force when TL split. Ironically I don't really think it set us back that much as we basically just accrued talent during this time, as was the plan. Even the high picks we gave away are still extremely valuable. Miller is worth as much or more and OEL/Garland speaks for itself. Unlike the States it's not conceivable to scorch earth tank in Canada like some newbies proclaim. Anyways for the most part after twenty years of (very) successful hockey cumulating in a SCF 7th game and two President's trophies, one of the most dominant teams in history, 2 HOF players ending their careers, Gillis leaving the cupboards bare, sacrificing 1sts, and locking everyone in to NTC's, and zero flexibility I for one haven't batted an eye like some during this rebuild. I guess I'm old enough to understand 8 years of less than stellar results is not much considering what came before it, and regardless of how or what structure was lacking JB left us a pretty good group of players in order to move on to the next phase. A lot of impatient people screaming for compete 3-4 years ago were completely unrealistic. As a side note I worked a number of years in several of the biggest Oil & Gas companies in the world while living in (spit) Calgary. While I wasn't that high up I worked with the CEO directly at times and appreciate the necessary structure in a Billion dollar operation. What always struck me was how important and how much of the actual work was done by the Executive Secretaries. I don't know if that's a fair comparison to the AGM's but they were basically acting as pseudo CEO's, Directors, etc., for the day to day operations. And trust me their bark was as bad as their bite.
  7. Is this the Leafs site? What a crap thread. Percentage predictions in sports are beyond dumb, especially with 800 games left. Ugg, lol.
  8. I'm guessing it was just inexperience. He didn't think he needed it. I suppose that's why you hire a President of Hockey Ops I guess though. I confess I never really wondered what they did but it's basically an Operations Manager that does have some authority over the GM. It's a watchdog for the owner to make sure the ship is pointed in the right direction. Left brain right brain if you will. I hate assigning blame on this site it seems like it's all anyone wants to do and it's stupid anyway but in this case I think if anyone Aquilini dropped the ball. He should have hired another one when Trevor quit.
  9. Great point. A lot of people act like you just flip a switch or something. They just keep posting their frustrations like why doesn't he just do this or be better or turn it on. Then they conclude he sucks. In reality it's a process when you're in a slump and you do have to work your way out of it. People should at least give the 23 yr old Calder Cup winner a chance.
  10. What it looks like on your tv and what's really going on could be and likely are completely different. All players struggle and most end up playing through and are better for it. It's way to early to hit the panic button ... for the numerous reasons mentioned.
  11. Most teams don't come out flying every game. If they do they're tops in the league. They didn't look like they were in the playoffs but they won the game. What are we talking about lol?
  12. Dude, people have been talking about how to trade Pearson since he got resigned, saying he is unnecessary and untradeable (not me). JR indicated he's only interested in trading for picks or youth, aka trading vets. Pearson had a great game. Do the math. It's common sense not a fake rumor.
  13. I think the difference is 18,000 people sitting side by side with masks off a lot of time screaming and behaving foolishly at times compared to 250 people (grocery store) practicing social distancing while doing a chore. It's completely different. Although I get the gist of what you're saying it's not the same. It's definitely a rational decision to not just allow that to happen without weighing the situation clearly. I'm hoping we get to have 100% of fans asap but it definitely makes sense that they've taken a couple weeks to examine the situation.
  14. Does JR have the patience to see it through, he never has before so we'll see if he doesn't trade any picks away. I have my doubts but you do need those young players to keep the salary cap under control. I agree that's key.
  15. I still don't see how we are going to collect picks and young players and have them turn us into a contender in 2 years. I guess trade Miller, and Boeser for first round picks or young up and coming players and then hope those 3 players are major, major contributors in 2023. I think JB had the same stance as JR when he first took over and then started trading some picks, first acquiring a second for Garrison and a first when forced to trade Kesler. He then trade a second and third for Dorsett, and Vey(). Then he gave up a second and third for Pedan and Baertschi a year later, but recouped the second by trading Bieksa. So although he did give up a couple secondary picks he was striving to get younger and build through the draft somewhat similar to what JR stated. I just wonder if JR stands hard by that and just acquires picks for players and won't give any up are we're looking at more of a 5 year plan as compared to 2.
  16. Lol, maybe, hopefully that finally ends the Tryamkin talk. Francis blew it outthinking himself. Vegas wanted to be good right away and they still got way more assets and picks then the Kraken will. I also see a long road of suffering ahead.
  17. We probably won't play until the 11th in Florida when we start that pretty wicked Eastern road trip with games following on the 13th(TB), 15th(CAR), 16th(WASH), and 18th(NASH). Then we play 5 games in a row in Canada, starting Jan 21st, which could all be cancelled, including at Calgary on Jan 29th. We would then play on Jan 31st(CHI), and Feb 1st(NASH). Then comes the Olympic break which extends to Feb 28th when we play NJ. So if my math is right (probably not feel free to correct me) we would need to make up 7 games in that 27 day period if possible. I would think we need to see full capacity sometime in February in order to keep the season going, although being we have 33 games played (Boston-26) already we are one of the teams which shouldn't be too hard to reschedule. I'm almost more worried about American teams cancelling games due to covid as we should hope to see lesser restrictions and less cases(vs USA) in Canada after more data is collected. I hate to be a nervous nelly but I'm a little worried we might see a border closure as well. Edit: Just read @Alienhuggyflow's post and perhaps that Jan 8th game goes ahead due to TV contract. I would think playing some games at 50% would be better than nothing if it's only for a few weeks but apparently the NHL and NHLPA don't necessarily agree as they are losing too much revenue. Well I'm hoping for the best I guess they could always shorten the season to 70 games as well. We still have a bunch of options. GO AWAY COVID! Oh yeah GO CANUCKS BO!
  18. No such thing as an easy win in hockey. Shame on you. I'll take the Seasick Crocodile then Jake Tryamkin can stay home where he's not afraid of the big scary world
  19. They are both hilarious. One funny funny, one sad funny.
  20. Yeah, as in don't be surprised if core players are traded or the team is stripped in the short term. JB had the same plan in the beginning. He didn't really trade away that many picks imo until the Miller trade. I'm just curious if and when he does end up trading picks. He's certainly no stranger to it.
  21. It'll be kind of hard to acquire good young players and acquire draft picks without giving anything up. Almost all new GM's say this. We'll see how long that lasts.
  22. Yeah he's pretty decent if I recall. Should fit right in if needed.
  23. Definitely no easy solution. Obviously if there was it would be done. I don't think they're punishing the Canucks or people in the province just for kicks or headlines. That's absurd. They are acting in the name of safety.
