Yeah it irks me when a bunch of clueless people keep parroting that draft picks can't play for 5 years. Hronek drafted in 2016 and playing fulltime by 2018. If a draft pick turns out they are hitting the NHL within 2 or 3 years oftentimes. Hoglander, and Pods both saw action immediately. Bunch of hooey.

We're dead in the water. What a nightmare lol. Bottom 6 team 8 mil over cap. Thanks Miller! -

Maddening -
I agree on Bear somewhat but I've seen enough of Dermott. I think that pairing would be horrific. Dermott was crap imo since day 1 and I wouldn't waste a penny on him. I'd rather have a waiver pickup. That's just me though I've been very unimpressed by his service thus far. Just another wasted pick.

Fair enough, not me. He makes way too many incredibly poor plays. I do like parts of his game though and he does some tings pretty well. When he's on he's good, when he's off he's worse than Myers. I can see why he didn't play in Carolina. No go for a coach like Rod. I sure hope we don't give this guy any money ... isn't his qualifying offer over $2m? I would keep him as a stop gap at league minimum but that's it. Livingstone is also a far fetched idea at this point. We have little reason to think we will sign him let alone whether he can jump into the NHL.

[Rumour] Logan Stanley requests trade

unfortunately yes -
There was a way to keep both Petey and Hughes and still start drafting inhouse players for long term success. This management group just turned the page on that. As such we might as well just trade all our picks and go all in. There is a tiny chance this works but most likely we're just looking at another 8-10 years of futility. Maybe they'll finally do it right at that point but I doubt it. One thing is certain, our prospect pool, or lack there of is going to continue to hurt us down the road. We are going to have a lot of problems trying to fill out the roster with no prospect depth, and no cap space. We still need 4 more defenceman, a 3C, a 2C probably, a backup goalie, and some more quality in the bottom six. All this and we're currently a bottom 6 team. What a mess. Maybe Hronek turns into Bobby Orr.

I liked your earlier post regarding chemistry being the most important factor. Hughes partner doesn't necessarily have to be a conventional stay at home tank on skates. A mobile defender that's good at hockey and pushes the envelope could be the exact right fit. He's not overly small at 6'0. 190, either.

It would be nice if a Miller or Boeser deal is already completed. As far as Hronek I'm guessing they obviously felt like it was strike now or the deal could/would be gone. I can only assume Hronek would have been shopped around with the prices being payed. So I totally get the timing. I'm sure if Stevie Y gave them the option they would have waited. Having said that I don't necessarily agree with it. I'm still waiting for it to really sink in and I guess it's going to take some time to see what we got. Maybe it's the ticket. They did finally address the D. Sure hope the Isles light it up and that pick plummets.
