"Can OEL be fixed? Maybe. Injuries have hampered his play the past few seasons. Maybe when he's healthy, he can really cement himself as a guy who can still run a power play and be productive. But Vancouver's defense isn't in a position to make a struggling blueliner better, and that's a tall tale with the cap he currently has. You just don't typically find many guys jumping up performance-wise in their 30s after injuries. Maybe he does, and even with his poor performance, he's still the second best player in this trade at this point. But the cost, the dang cost. That's the issue here. Replacing a couple of bad contracts with another isn't a great solution." The NHL is a tough game and you can't really cheat and get away with it. Benning blew it by incurring long term cap when we were not done building the team. He jumped the gun crossing his fingers they would compete immediately instead of several years away when we now see OEL at 32 next year. Ouch, not only did we add $12 mil to our cap we gave away two high draft picks in the process. Murder for teams in our position. It was also a poor decision because we were in the middle of a global pandemic. Only teams that were at the top should have been pushing the issue. Should have been common business sense. -
A slightly more realistic dream might be Smith, Reinbacher, Bonk/Strbak, Jordan Tourigny, Beau Akey, Kalem Parker. Let's go! Like you I want all the prospects lol

Ah sorry ... I must have misread what you said. He is a players coach ... who expects players to buy in and play the right way. -

Yeah agreed on all but I do think this Johansson may be a pretty good find. He's doing very well. Hopefully we also have a to 15 RD in the system after the draft. Thank goodness Myers is out of here soon, and we'll see what happens with Schenn. Great teammate and good depth d but not remotely the answer either. -

lol, so what a players coach doesn't make them practice and just lets them screw around like a country club? Some people are completely out of touch with what's going on here. Tocchet definitely seems like a players coach to me. He also said multiple times his biggest concept is to build relationships with the players, not to ream them out but to explain what they need to do on the ice. He's also a former player with lots of success and high performance. He's got high expectations but anyone can see he's personable with the players. Like really what do you expect a new coach to do who was brought in to change the culture, and work on new systems and better work habits? Not practice I for the life of me can't figure out why on earth anyone would be slamming Tocchet at this point. It makes no sense whatsoever ... there must be a bias here and people who love Bruce feel the need to crap on Tocchet. He wasn't the one that fired Bruce though. -

You're not paying attention then. There is so much more going on. He's teaching them to play the right way and how to execute game management. This isn't going to translate into an 8-0 start. That's crazy and completely unrealistic, and not even the goal. -

It's going to be tough. In my mind they need to make one big move on RD. It seems daunting but you only need 6 starting D. We've already got Hughes and OEL so one good RD and we actually have something to build on. Then supplement through the draft and being open for business (cap space) when the opportunity arises. Hopefully Johansson is good when he comes over next year as well. -

U no understanda da ockey So Boudreau is awesome, but no Shaw is his excuse for this garbage he coached yet Tocchet sucks with the same assistant coaches and just getting started plus no Bo = he sucks. Hmmm, great logic ... not even going to explain coaching records to you cause yeah ... the above comment stands pretty clear. -

And the Canucks are proud to draft at #1 overall Sandin-Pelikka! Allvin: There's your RD bitches! -
Yeah true ... but I don't really believe in BPA per se unless it's clear cut like pick #1. It's an impossible science. I feel there are tiers of players and within those picking for position is acceptable. Like is it really possible to itemize picks 180-185 accurately? Of course it is more clear at the top. For this reason I'm fine with a defender for the second pick but the first definitely needs to be a forward. In addition ... will Allvin pick based on nationality lol? I will take Carlsson ... or Pelikka for our #1, and #2, picks.
