  1. The fact that you even have this as a thought for a possible reason for him "not wanting to win" shows how deluded you are. Are you serious? That's like saying players that don't wear visors on their helmets care more than those "pansies" who do (they want protected vision) and the players who wear visors only care about their paycheques. Should we terminate Bo's contract and trade for Kassian again and make him captain right away? How about Reaves as our captain? Bogosian?
  2. you act like we have the luxury of being able to choose a yzerman or sakic type leader for our team. i mean, if we did have a captain like that available as an option, then yeah, i'd gladly back him.. but what are you expecting? you complain but there's no solution. Bo's on pace for a career year goal wise, he's nearly 60 percent on faceoff and... "maybe he should quit and find a job testing pillows?" "you'd think the captain, in his hometown would want to win and make an impact?" didn't he score a goal that game? what, are you expecting him to be superman and singlehandedly carry the team like he's mcdavid possessed and offence the entire path for the team? and how's he gonna punch his way to a win by himself? this team sucks. you can't put all the blame on Bo for that. there's 17 other skaters on the ice. There's only so much you can do when you have a sh*tty team around you. I'm not saying that Bo's the most macho, manliest captain there is, however, he's playing well. We also don't have the luxury to choose that "perfect captain" according to your standards. "i don't like and don't want a captain who's as soft as charmin toilet paper". lol. well good luck finding that captain who can fight, hit, win face-offs, have excellent defence and offence, have excellent hockey iq and carry an entire team. everyone wants that player.
  3. I admire your positive mindset but I'm sorry you're completely wrong.
  4. Don't think he was being misogynistic, just an entitled #$%& I've seen these kinds of people at sporting events literally trying to shush people near them saying they're being too loud cheering. Even to other guys. It's a sporting event. Not a library you clowns.
  5. hey, maybe jimbo was right. maybe he was a foundational player after all.
  6. i dont know why rutherford keeps going after BB when he's done f*ck all in terms of actually helpful transactions for that defence. "defence is a problem" - said in his opening presser. If he acquired marino...etc and made some actual moves for actual NHL defencemen and they still sucked then yeah i get his frustration, but he's done j*ck shit but add fringe NHLers in Bear and Stillman for that defence and expects boudreau to compete with that d-core. "bad habits" - yeah, well give him the proper personnel (players) who can actually play and not keep making those bad habit mistakes. These bad habits happen because some of the players simply aren't NHL quality players. The guy has won over 600 NHL games and you treat him like he's some amateur coach that doesn't know what he's doing. f*ck off.
  7. i certainly hope so. i honestly don't know what to think of with this team. we're so against the cap and stuck with Miller's contract for near another decade and OEL's for a while too. hopefully, there is some shift within the next few years.
  8. well on paper they look significantly upgraded on the offence compared to the last season. with they way they had their run with BB, I guess people expected them to be a better team than what they are. now, with the same recurring issues at the beginning of the season... yeah for sure, it confirms that this team isn't good enough.
  9. I agree. Backbone is the key word. I think management thought Bo/Miller and Co. were mature enough to take on the burdens of the leadership roles and decided to let the veterans go. Now we're seeing this team have major weaknesses on the mental side of things.
  10. a very good team is debatable. certainly a team better than how its showing out to be though.
  11. Not only them, Sutter is now also gone and even a guy like Beagle (although he was overpaid) I think helped play leadership roles in many ways. Maybe not much was done on the ice from their part but off the ice they were. Reminds me of when we had Ryan Miller sticking up for our guys (literally) and being that calming veteran presence needed in goal too. Really shows you the importance of maturity needed in the room.
  12. Can I apply for a management position? If the requirements are doing a whole lot of nothing, then I think I have the qualifications for this job.
  13. The defence tonight: - waay too many open gaps on the defence on opposition breakouts and often leaving a forward of theirs all alone. really slow reads and terrible marking from the defence. The PP tonight: - that bumper play to horvat is so predictable its not even funny. there was a sequence where they did that 3 times over to no avail. same with miller in the high slot trying to shoot with no screen. I think they should move miller to the front of the net and have kuzmenko in that slot. - this constant passing back and forth from huggy/petey is infuriating. As much as I like huggy, his shot is sub par. He doesn't have that salo bomb or even one as strong as edler's slapshots. - Petey stickhandles and tries to make the perfect play, that when he decides to shoot its often too late. He arguably has the best shot on the team, he should be utilizing. BB talked about things being to cute and that is a very notable "bad habit" that they keep going back to. It needs to be fixed. Overall: 2-0 lead then TOR comes back to win 3-2. At least they fought in the third this time rather than treated it like a morning skate. Still not enough, but at this point, even showing effort is an accomplishment. sad.
  14. must be something mental at this point. maybe like the yips? i think his lack of trust in the defence in front of him also plays a large factor
  15. I agree. They said all the things preseason like they expect to compete for a playoff spot. My initial reaction was "really? with that defence?" Like how delusional do you have to be to think we can compete with such a dysfunctional personnel of defence?
  16. To be a little fair, I don't think anyone expected us to be this bad, even management. Even with the suspect defence coming into the season, Boudreau himself (on paper) said that he expected this to be a playoff team before the season began. Albeit probably a fringe playoff team. I think they majorly failed on the Miller signing and were too hasty with that process. JR and his crew handcuffed themselves by signing Miller long term when he still had the year left remaining on his deal. They could've used that extra time to at least monitor the team's performances early this season before making a decision on him. Knowing that they have a flimsy d-core and really anything could happen with a decent offence and bad defence. It was not a surefire guarantee this team would succeed. Also, these types of major "retirement" deals with the long term/high salaries are usually signed by consistent, elite contending teams (Think Kucherov with TB and Mackinnon with COL who both signed 8 year deals not too long ago). The player and the team are in their primes and the player is rewarded for their contributions with that retirement contract while the team is still elite and contending yearly. Not a team like this who's only made the playoffs twice (kind of, if you can even count the bubble playoffs) in the last 8 years now. And was still a TBD going into this season. As a management group advertised with "years of experience and knowledge", you really had that little foresight? You could say that management was handcuffed because of the cap problems caused by Benning and that they couldn't really make any major moves, but I'm not sure I believe that as much anymore. They've already shown they're willing to trade picks for players like Stillman, pay a 3rd pick to get rid of Dickinson and also get rid of a 5th (although this doesn't hurt as much) for Bear. What.. so if they're willing to do that, they couldn't have packaged picks plus, let's say a miller or a boeser to make a major move(s) for that defence? (which it desperately needs). Instead of wasting those potential trade assets picks on plugs like Stillman? When we already have guys in the system like Burroughs and Brisebois who are either equal or better than him? Mikheyev's been good but you couldn't have saved that precious cap space for room on the defence? Like the title, I don't know if it's been laziness, miscalculation, incompetence, or mainly these guys just wanting to focus on being "woke" with who they hire rather than care about actual hockey ops.... but it's quite alarming when you see things like the PRESIDENT OF THE TEAM talking about not knowing his own head coach's contract option, which he blatantly admitted on HNIC. It's alarming when the newly hired hockey execs in their opening press conferences and many interviews since last year, talked about needing to fix the problems of this team, that many fans were finally relieved to hear you say.... but haven't done anything to address them. Because there have been opportunities to do so. All bark no bite.
