  1. lol. Spare me the sob story. Typical overreaction thinking that the league is plotting some sort of conspiracy against the Canucks. The Perreault draft has nothing to do with 50 years of no cup. Guess what? The Sabres haven't won a thing either. This team has either just sucked or been mediocre for most of its history. You say karma? Ok. Maybe the 50 years of losing is also then karma for the hockey riots that this city is famous for.
  2. Sadly, I agree. I actually have some sympathy for Buffalo as our expansion brethren but Edmonton can suck a fat one.
  3. Yes. I think he does. You seem try and devalue Boeser quite a lot. He's a player with an elite shot, good hockey IQ and good skating. Not to mention be played on a bad team in his rookie season and still popped 29 goals (leader in points). He has the talent and skills that make him the player that he is. He is a set top 6 player on any team you put him on. Bertuzzi on a cup winning team is a third line player. I also find it funny how people give that knock on Boeser that he is "easier to play against" compared to the player that is proposed. Have you played against Bertuzzi yourself to know that? They barely even have a size difference. I don't care how "hard" one player is to play against. If, for example, a player like Tom Wilson comes at him at full speed for a hit, he will get popped and manhandled. There is a certain extent to where is quality is valuable... and not for the sake of pure goal scoring ability.
  4. I agree. Because Hughes would've played with better point producers and likely wouldn't have a -10 on the Avalanche.
  5. He wasn't robbed of it. You are just extremely biased. Truth is, Makar had just as good a showing as Hughes and had a better PPG. Mind you, he plays on a team with Mackinnon and Rantanen so that definitely helps, but he was phenomenal this year.
  6. Love this comparison. Columbus has a situation where they have Werenski and Jones as a 1A/1B combo. If the Canucks somehow can get Ekblad, we can emulate this with Hughes as 1A/1B on our backend.
  7. I guess the only perk is that they have that new arena and hotel attached. Not need to go out into the actual city LOL
  8. This is an honest question but is Winnipeg really a place that top free agents still consider? They have a solid team but I wouldn't want to live in that depressing black hole that is Winnipeg
  9. I'm not going to make a proposal but I really do believe we need more than just Hughes on that blueline. We have elite stars like Petey, Boes and Horvat as our offensive guys, but it would certainly bring more balance to the team if we could add a fairly young, elite defenceman to the blueline. I think Ekblad would be great... even though it would likely include a deal involving Boeser to get him.
  10. Don't get me wrong, I think our team is miles ahead of Edmonton overall. I was only comparing the duos (Petey/Eichel and McDavid/Darisaitl) and nothing else.
  11. Petey and Eichel would definitely be a top 3 duo, but the X factor is McDavid. He's on another stratosphere.
  12. As much as I love Petey, no 2 punch centers in the league will even touch that McDavid and Draisaitl duo.
  13. I completely agree. The one thing I was on about since the beginning is the fact that GMJB and the management really lack hindsight. You never know what type of player could come up on the market in the future and you don't need to cash out 3 to 4 million/year for 4th line calibre forwards. "We need veteran experience for the playoffs" That "experience" excuse brought up by management could be bought for much less and now we're seeing actual players that we should've saved up that money for. I hope management realizes that their impulsive contract decisions have resulted in a situation where we can't do anything and learn from it.
  14. It would be funny to see this thread if he doesn't up getting traded
  15. Fair. He's a good player. However, I wouldn't downplay Boeser's defensive contributions either. Sure Debrusk adds physicality, but I think consistent goal-scoring is something more valuable to a team. Boes has proven that more than Debrusk so far.
  16. Yeah. Not to mention his whopping 15 assists that year. Also, you're just going to forget the 29 and 26 goals that Boeser scored the last 2 years then?
  17. I don't see how it's fair lol. Both are the same age and play on the wing but Boeser is superior offensively. If anything, the Canucks get slightly worse out of this deal.
  18. Tampa has been too talented of a team to not win the cup for a while now. I think this is finally their year. Bolts in 6
  19. Loyalty lol. The man saw a job promotion that he wasn’t going to be getting here and took it. Stop being a drama queen.
  20. Such morons whoever did it. People need to focus on being more productive in their lives and not indulging in such petty and idiotic acts like this.
  21. I'm happy for Rick Bowness. Always admired him during his time here. Glad we have a bit of a Canuck connection with Dallas and they were able to finish off the Knights
  22. Yeesh. I forgot about Gaunce for a bit there. Hands down THE most boring player I've seen in my life. Can't skate, shoot, win face-offs and average hockey IQ. Yeah, thank goodness he's long gone.
