How many times has Sutter, Schaller and Ericlsson looked invisible this year. Even Boeser had long stretches of inconsistency. Green refuses to define Virtanen's role. The guy juggles the lines so much, one day Schaller's a 4rth line bum that couldn't even crack LA's lineup, the next day Green has him on the second line. Honestly, who do think is the better player, Goldobin or Schaller. Schaller was supposed to be tough, couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. OK penalty killing, lots of bonehead defensive gaffs that even cost us a couple wins. The kind of defensive errors a 4rth liner that does nothing but throw a couple of hits, doesn't make and stay in the NHL. There's over half a dozen players Green put ahead that aren't even in the NHL anymore. Feels weird but we agree once again. Torts tried turning the Sedins into 24 minute a game, also Pker's that blocked shots and look how that turned out. The were worn down by the second half of the season. Virtanen being scratched or given less than 10 minutes a game isn't doing his development many favours.

I think the extra roster spots were just for the preseason game, Green thinks Schaller is a far better player so it's a lost cause at this point.

I hope they win and Green proves himself to be a good coach. He will be sealing Virtanen's fate with the Canucks if he benches him but will also look bad if they lose. The problem with what you're saying is some of us watched every single game on tv or live this season, including preseason. i was at the Ottawa preseason game where the Canucks were coming of a split squad, The games before Green had the Canucks at home and N Brown coached the squad in Calgary. In the game in Calgary, Virtanen had 2 goals including the overtime winner and was first star of the game. This was a depleted mostly AHL Canucks squad against a stacked Calgary team at home. Virtanen was given first line and PP unit time. The next game was the Ottawa game in Jakes hometown, Abby, Green played him 5 minuets on the fourth line. Also watched both Boeser and Fantenberg get obliterated with dirty hits without any type of response other than their PP was incredible that game. Thats when began to suspect there was something up with Green and his benching of Virtenan. It was like the performance in Calgary didn't matter because he wasn't there. Thats good coaching? You call him a lazy, crappy team mate but there is no evidence of that in the games we watched. He looked lost early on and started to find his game when they finally started to play him more than 8 minutes. He was always one of the first to stand up for his team mates going back to that Stecher hit that sparked a brawl TB. That is not evidence of a crappy team mate. There is an argument that he comes into camp out of shape but i can't help but call Green for BS on this after seeing that Ottawa game, i think both the Ottawa and Calgary pre-season game were radio only so i see how this is lost on most people.

Staying focused could be the problem but i bet over half the players in the NHL looked crappy in training camp after a 4and a half month layoff, completey unfair treatment from the hockey whisperer.

Virtanen is the Canucks 5th best winger, unless you believe Green , the dr.dooliltte training camp hockey whisperer. Green is more like WD and Nimrod Mike Keenan than Pat Quinn. Virtanen is 5th best and all the stats from the regular season reflect that, yet he's treated like the 10-14 forward over and over by the hockey whisperer. It's no different than Washington scratching Vrana or Ellers in the playoffs for Dowd or Boyd to look like a coach that knows what he's doing. If Green scratches Virtanen and the Canucks look like they did in that pre-season game, Green will be fired.
