While the Canucks are still a work in progress and aren’t a “finished product” as they were between 2010-2013, my concern is that Markstrom is going to burn out if he keeps having to work this hard.......which ultimately means that if the Canucks sign Markstrom to a long term deal, his body could start to break down mid way. Again through - the Canucks will obviously be a better team over these next few years, but they really do have to figure out how to adddress this possession/high danger chance situation.

Don’t get me wrong and associate me with those whiny pissants from HF Canucks. I’m a true fan of this team and am very happy and excited that we’re likely headed to the playoffs. Regardless of how we do in the playoffs, getting in there is a huge first step for the organization. Having said that - the Canucks need to figure out a way to increase their possession numbers and bleed less high danger chances. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like teams have figured out how to play us as of late, and I’ve noticed this since the Boston game. We are t getting a lot of room to skate, and opposing players are collapsing around their nets whenever we do have chances to shoot. what do we have to do to improve in these areas? . Do the Canucks need another defenseman? Do we need another top six scorer? Do coaching adjustments need to be made? Like I said earlier - please don’t confuse with me with the tards over at HF Canucks, but our lack of team possession numbers along with our surrendering of high danger chances is becoming concerning to me.

I’m wondering if the Devils would be open to something Eriksson-Subbann related? Eriksson has a much lower cap hit and has one less year on his contract. Given Eriksson’s contract structure, there’s also a good chance that Eriksson would retire before his contract expires (either after July 2020 or July 2021). The Canucks would obviously have to throw in a sweetener with Eriksson for Subban, but would it be as high as we think? (Given the above).

Yes, watching Colorado’s Brandon Sutter shut down the Canucks in the 3rd round would truly be tragic, and is very likely to occur. Would this happen before or after I become Carly Agro’s wife?

I’m sure there are more cost effective options available than Brandon Sutter to fill that 3rd line C position but if Colorado accepts that deal, the Canucks should take that and run!

[Proposal] Canadian Blockbuster Hockey Trade
Patel Bure replied to FinchBird's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
No team has ever won a cup with a 10 million dollar goalie, or with a goalie that takes up that high a cap percentage. hard pass. cost controlled elite talent + depth = championships. -
Boeser and Stecher for Reinhart and Ristolainen. Miller-Pettersson-Reinhart Pearson-Horvat-Eriksson Roussel-Gaudette-Virtanen Ferland-Beagle-Sutter Edler-Ristolainen Hughes-Tanev Fantenberg-Myers Markstrom Demko

I’ve taken poo’s in the toilet that weigh more than Nicole Goosev. Canucks need to get tougher not weaker.

Severson is a good all-around defenseman that is young and is signed to a great cap hit long term. He would fit our needs perfectly. I would absolutely move Jake while Jake’s value is relatively high. With Podkolzin set to arrive in a few years, the Canucks should be pretty set on their RW with Pod and Boes over there. Our right side D is very questionable in the long term right now. Severson would help address that.

The Devils get some young pieces and depth, while the Canucks get a young “all situations” defenseman that can pick up the mantle when Edler and Tanev move on. Severson and Hughes can become an elite pair for years to come. Many fans and media of this city truly did get mind&^@#ed after the 2011 cup loss to Boston.

[Proposal] Tyler Toffoli and Wayne Simmonds
Patel Bure replied to Pears's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Your post is very well thought out. I’m a fan of the idea of getting Toffoli, but I’d rather see the Canucks add another top four calibre defenseman rather than adding a 2nd forward. The Canucks are very strong in the offensive zone but are quite a bit weaker in their own end. That needs to change. Edler having a stronger defensive partner would change that, and I think that’s where a guy like Vatanen would come in. Do your Stecher deal for Vatanen. -
$&!# son! Boeser and Stecher for Reinhart and Risto actually crossed my mind a few hours ago! It’s tempting for me, but I think I’d rather hold onto Boeser. His father’s illness is obviously affecting Boeser and I don’t think it would look good on management’s part if they moved a popular teammate in Boeser. That could really piss off our core players. More times than not, we can’t just treat players like they are part of an assembly line. Great teams and management treat their players like family. Boeser is struggling emotionally right now and management and coaching need to give Boeser emotional encouragement and support during what I imagine to be trying times.

People aren’t going to like this proposal for obvious reasons, but the truth of the matter is that 1) the Canucks will need to add in a sweetener if they intend to move Eriksson. 2) the Canucks will inevitably have to choose between Markstrom and Demko. 3) There is no guarantee that Eriksson retires after this season even after collecting his bonus. The Senators get their goalie of the future (Sens have some goalie prospects but Demko is significantly better), while the Canucks rid themselves of the Eriksson contract which would allow them to comfortably re-sign all of Tanev, Markstrom, and Virtanen. Anderson will be off the books at the end of the season. What are YOUR top 5 memories as a Canucks fan?
Patel Bure replied to Roberts's topic in Canucks Talk
1) Bieksa goal 2011 vs San Jose 2) Bure goal against Flames in 94’ 3) Burrows goal game 7 against Chicago in 2011 4) Adams’ goal in game 5 against the Leafs in 94’ 5) Prust spearing Marchand in the nuts in 2016. ps - Cooke’s goal in 2004 game 7 is my real number 5. -
Turtling is when you KNOW someone is coming at you and you turtle anyways. If someone completely blindsides you and you are left trying to defend yourself, that’s not turtling. And again - Tkachuk challenged Kassian like a man in the next game. Stop making me defend Tkachuk and the Flames ffs. I don’t like him or those guys!
