  1. Fair enough and than you for the update. You too @wallstreetamigo. Given all of these positives, I’m just curious as to why there’s a lot of negativity around Rutherford? HFCanucks are having their usual estrogen-related meltdown, but do they actually have valid reasons in being unhappy with him being hired?
  2. Did Rutherford really build those teams or were the core pieces of those teams already bin place when he took over? That’s what I would like to know in depth.
  3. I absolutely love the fact that we have Boudreau, Walker, and Shaw as part of our coaching staff. That is a kick ass staff. So happy that Scott Walker is back with us. Loved him so much while he was here.
  4. Would be interesting to see if the twins could rise up to the role of co-GM’s one day. I just look at both Steve Yzerman and Joe Sakic, who are the two best GM’s in the league imo, and wonder if our two legends could do what Yzerman and Sakic are doing. Both Yzerman and Sakic have genius intellect in my opinion and are also straight up shrewd savages when it comes to making decision. The twins also have extreme intelligence but I’m not sure if they are savages like Yzerman and Sakic. I could see the twins having a difficult decision in firing or trading personnel just as Benning did with Green. A part of me wonders if Stan Smyl could be GM? While Smyl doesn’t have “genius intellect” like Yzerman and Sakic do......to put things politely, what Smyl has is heart.....and the guy bleeds Canucks colors. More importantly though, Smyl is extremely likeable and I’m sure that many people would go out of their way to help Smyl and collaborate. I would have even suggested for Linden to be hired as GM but that bridge seems to have been burned.
  5. I wouldn’t mind Lombardi either but I’ve heard rumors that he wouldn’t want to come here due to his perception of Aqua’s being meddling owners. I love Lombardi! At the same time, I look at a guy like Chris MacFarland and can’t help but wonder where is hockey acumen is at right now. Joe Sakic, along with Steve Yzerman, are the two best GM’s in the league......and MacFarland has had a chance to work with the best since 2015. Why not go get that guy?
  6. Ideally, we’d keep both Miller and Horvat while moving Boeser if it had to come down to this. Kilomovich would then replace Boeser. I hope they find a way to keep all three however. Maybe moving Pearson for a pick would go a long way in giving us cap space? I think a lot of it will depend on Boeser and if he can get his game back under Boudreau. He already looks like he’s on that path.
  7. Well obviously, lol. I just heard that in both Pittsburgh and Carolina, he already had a lot of established pieces to work with. He already had Sid, Geno, and Letang in Pittsburgh from what I understand. He gave us Pearson for Gudbranson a few years back. :-p Im still trying to learn more about Rutherford, but my gut feeling for now says that he’ll be a solid President for us but we’ll still need a new GM that is more in tune with today’s hockey climate. Someone young and progressive thinking. I’m still huge on Chris MacFarland.
  8. Just to be clear, that’s not my take! Don’t shoot the messenger. :-p
  9. I don’t mind Jim Rutherford being President but am going to be upset if he’s our next long term GM as well. ps - edit - looks like he will only be President and *interim* GM. I have no problem with that at all. I’m still holding out hope for Colorado’s Chris MacFarland.
  10. Many are saying that the Pens won in spite of him and that he made a lot of questionable moves after that?
  11. I’m fine with Jim Rutherford being President but am not entirely keen on him being a GM. I’ll have to look up his history a bit more but my initial gut feeling is that he made a number of questionable moves as a GM in Pittsburgh.
  12. Benning was never at fault other than this inability to move on from Green. People can say all they want about how Benning spent to the cap during a supposed rebuild, but those players that he paid for were renowned locker room leaders that were brought in here to safeguard the development of our young players. All roster spots and roles that young players were assigned were earned through merit. Benning's plan worked and the Canucks made the playoffs in 2020 much to the chagrin of Thomas Drance, JD Burke, HFCanucks.com, and a few other disgruntled idiots that shall rename unnamed. Unfortunately for Benning, he became too loyal to Travis Green. Green is a coach that is fine for a developing team but a team on the rise needs an elite coach. Benning simply didn't have the heart to replace Green after the 2020 bubble. As a result, the Canucks struggled even despite Benning's good moves post 2020 bubble. Travis Green turned Nate Schmidt into Caityln Jenner and the Canucks struggled throughout the 2020-2021 season. As promised, all of our bad "transitional" contracts were off the books before this season started. Unfortunately, because of Green, our top young players became our bad contracts. If Green had been replaced post 2020 bubble, we would have played some good hockey in 2021. No point in crying over spilled urine, but Bruce Boudreau is now here and I couldn't be any happier.
  13. It shouldn’t. But having said that, China can point fingers as well. Especially at the US. That’s my point.
  14. ‘‘Twas great. The owner didn’t have any censorship or moderation on the Open Forum and so posters there constantly threw massive haymakers at one another, haha.
  15. I might be wrong but I think the site owner prefers it that way. The site is meant to have a small populace full of guys in their 50’s and 60’s that roast one another quite aggressively. I read the site every day for comedy. The site isn’t for everyone though as the roasts can be misconstrued as cyberbullying by some. Lots of emotional meltdowns have taken place there, lol.
  16. One thing that he wasn’t wrong about, in his departing speech, was the fact that the NHL is either completely corrupt or completely incompetent as far as officiating goes.
  17. There was lots of drama going on in the Open Forum over there. The site owner, Chris, was a liberal while most of his core members were Conservative. As the political debates started to heat up over there from 2010 onwards, the wedge between Chris and his most faithful members began to increase. The Stanley Cup loss was merely the icing on the cake unfortunately. Chris went mental and the rest is history. :-/
  18. Canada used to abuse Indigenous people with their residential schools (I'll have to admit that I'm not sure if this is still going on but it was still going on as recent as 1996 if I understand correctly). Americans treatment of African Americans is beyond disgusting (almost at a similar level to how the Canucks were treated between 2009-2013 by the National Hockey League) With respect to these countries wanting to "send a message" to China, maybe these guys need to look in their own backyards first. I'm not condoning what China does in any way shape or form, but are we really going to sit there and pretend that China is the only country that does this stuff?
  19. There’s more there with Horvat. Let’s see how he performs with a good coach (Boudreau is the first good coach that Horvat will have had at the NHL level) and some good linemates in which Horvat isn’t necessarily married to certain linemates in a match up role (ie Pearson and Player Name). Guys like Horvat are the players you win with in the playoffs. Horvat was solid for us in the bubble and even had a solid 2015 playoffs all those years ago. I’m not sure what Boudreau’s plans are but maybe he puts Miller and Horvat together on the same line (something that Green chose not to do). Miller-Horvat-Boeser Podkolzin-Pettersson-Garland
  20. The problem with moving even one of Horvat or Miller now is that it could have too much of a negative rippling effect on our other players. Granted, we haven’t gotten off to a great start, but the players on our team want to compete for the now and be competitive over these coming years. Guys like Garland, OEL, etc., were sold on this idea. If we deviate from the plan and start rebuilding, it could lead to a lot of guys either not putting in effort or leading to a number of players making trade requests. Boudreau was also specifically brought in to take this talented and promising core to see if he can turn them around. I think the Canucks will need to stay married to this core between now and the 2023 trade deadline and see if they can make a solid push both this year and next year. As far as the future goes, maybe the Canucks can become elite once Myers and Pearson come off the books and the Canucks can make better use of that cap space. Hopefully, the Canucks can convince both Horvat and Miller to stay here for the long haul while we move Boeser to clear up cap space.
  21. Agreed with this. At the end of the day, we can only play the team that is presented in front of us. Excuses don’t belong in the game. All we have to do is take care of business in front of us and move forward.
