  1. Absolutely. I am of the belief that the Canucks-Bruins series would have played out similarly to the 2013 Chicago/Boston series had both teams been relatively healthy (or of similar health). Even those first two games of the 2011 finals, the Canucks looked like they still had a little bit of health left and defeated Boston in two close games. January 7th 2012 game, Canucks defeated the Bruins and scored 4 goals on Tim Thomas. Bruins tried to goon it up, the refs penalized the Bruins, and then the Canucks pistol whipped the Bruins on the PP in that game.
  2. 2010-2011 team hands down. I know they get a lot of flack for the perception that they choked or were too soft, but this was not the case at all. When that 2011 team got to the finals, they were simply beat up physically and had significant injuries to 6 of their top 9 forwards and 4 of their top 6 defensemen. Outside of that, the Canucks dominated almost every single statistical category that year. 2010-2011 team was hands down our best team of all-time, and quite possibly one of the top 100 teams in the NHL history.
  3. At the first sign of the Canucks entering a decline, Kesler requested for a trade. Linden? Nope. The guy bled Canucks colors through thick and thin. Even if one can make the argument that Kesler was more than Linden on the ice, they were absolutely worlds apart as far as off ice character and leadership went. Guys like Linden, the twins, and Horvat are on a completely different level than Kesler as far as character goes.
  4. Bure is my favorite player of all-time, bar none. He is also a better player than Linden, just like the twins, Naslund, Mogilny, Bertuzzi, etc., all were. However, if I’m trying to build a winner (I.e which player in their prime are you taking?), I’m going with Trevor. Also, there aren’t any cool/cheesy East Indian names for Linden: -Hindustan Smyl -Patel Bure -Bovinder Horvatji -Hindu Dvorak -Zac Browncloud -Connor McHindu -Bollywood Bonino -Bollywood Brock Boeser Are the only names that I’ve come up with so far.
  5. Lol.....sorry. Meant to say rink. Although that would give “200 foot player” a whole new meaning?
  6. I realize that Fedorov was a two way player....”lol” The point that I was making is that talent and point totals aren’t everything.
  7. There is absolutely no doubt that Bure was one of the greatest goal scorers of all-time, and an amazing clutch player, but there’s so much more to the game of hockey. Atleast in my opinion. -Leadership abilities both on and off the ice -The ability to play in the clutch (like Bure could do). -Knowing how to properly utilize your teammates -Being able to play in both ends of the dink. -Being able to play in all situations -Taking face offs, standing up for teammates, etc. There is absolutely no doubt that Bure was a better hockey player than Linden, but prime Linden is the type of guy that you build your team and organization around. Bure is the icing and Linden is the cake. It’s a similar story in Detroit. Everyone knows that Fedorov absolutely blew Yzerman out of the waters as far as overall talent went, but there’s a reason why Yzerman is considered to be the heart and soul of that franchise.
  8. No he’s not and if he was, he’d be mentioned in the same sentence as Gretzky, Orr, and Howe. Bure was an amazing talent but there were some evident flaws in his game as well.
  9. Although it’s unlikely, I’m wondering if Madison Bowey can take a surprise leap in his game and help the Canucks this season?
  10. Unfortunately for us, he only cared for one season. 1995/96. He floated like a turd in the seasons following.
  11. True, but he also turned his back on the team and held out. That’s something Linden would have never done in a million years. Bure also didn’t do much on his end of the ice. 1995/96 Mogilny was a better overall player than PavelBure.
  12. Twice on game 7’s eh? Bure is a great pick, but Linden scored twice in Game 7 in 1994.
  13. True, but...... 1) Hart Trophy is a regular season award. 2) Perhaps I'm not remembering things correctly but the impression that I got from both Linden and Bure is that they both elevated their games when it mattered most and frequently scored clutch goals. Bure in 1994 vs. Calgary, Linden in the finals against the Rangers, and so forth. Outside of the 2011 San Jose series however, I just never got a sense that Henrik and Daniel really 'took over' games in the manner that they often would during the regular season. They just didn't have the same presence. Ditto for Naslund and Bertuzzi. We just never really saw them take their games to the next level when it mattered most (although I do recall Naslund rushing up the ice in the dying seconds of 2004 Calgary which lead to Cooke's goal). When you think of guys that consistently elevated their games when it mattered most, you think of Linden, Bure, Burrows, Kesler, McLean, and 2007 Luongo. I just don't think of the twins, Naslund, and Bertuzzi when it comes to clutch moments.
  14. Bure knew how to elevate his game when it mattered most. Henrik did not.
  15. I'd probably go with Trevor Linden. -heart and soul guy -elevated his game when it mattered most -excellent two way game -could be used in all situations -lead by example both on and off the ice / the ultimate teammate and the ultimate consummate professional.
  16. The "Canucks fans" on HF are flat out celebrating this news.
  17. It's not a wake-up call at all. It's a team that has established its young core and is now ready to leave the rebuild stage. All organizations go through a rebuild and the Canucks are of no exception. We did the same thing starting in 1996. 1996: 1st round loss 1997: DNQ 1998: DNQ 1999: DNQ 2000: DNQ 2001: 1st round loss 2002: 1st round loss 2015: 1st round loss 2016: DNQ 2017: DNQ 2018: DNQ 2019: DNQ 2020: 2nd round loss 2021: DNQ While I would love to have Petey and Hughes here, they are by no means 'unnreplaceable'. If Petey doesn't want to be here in the future, that 9 million or so will be redistributed to other assets. The New York Islanders did the same thing when Tavares left The world moves on.
  18. While people at HF Canucks and some of the media members in our town are going to "get off" on this, the truth of the matter is that Pettersson isn't telling us anything that we didn't already know. Of course Petey wants to win and of course Petey isn't going to marry himself to a team and organization that isn't taking the necessary steps forward.........but how is that different than all/most other superstars around the league? You don't see many guys like the twins and Ray Bouque these days. Players these days want to win, and they don't want to be known as "the best player to have not won a cup." This isn't specific to Elias Pettersson however, regardless of how much HF Canucks and our toxic media may want this to be.
  19. Miller at center + past proven chemistry: I've stated my previous line combos but am 'thinking outloud' with regards to deploying Miller at center + incorporating past chemistry. Dickinson-Pettersson-Garland Hoglander-Miller-Boeser (line used during post Petey injury this past season. Canucks went 8-3-2). Pearson-Horvat-Podkolzin - Horvat and Pearson have played with each other for awhile and have usually had a bigger sized board battler playing with them. Motte-Sutter-MacEwen OEL-Hamonic Hughes-Poolman Juolevi-Myers Demko Halak
  20. Haha you missed my subtle joke man. Why would *I of all people be annoyed with the numerous Hughes/Pettersson proposals when I create them on here more than anyone. :-p
  21. Amazing how the anti-Benning crowd tries to do whatever they can to convince themselves that our 2nd round appearance in 2020 didn’t actually happen. Go to HF Canucks to see what I’m talking about. “If it wasn’t for Judd Bracket, Markstrom, Judd Bracket, Tanev, our power play, Covid stoppage, our 9-3 streak to start the season, an out of this world January, a depleted Minnesota team, a disinterested St.Louis team, and Judd Brackett, speculation is fairly certain that the Canucks wouldn’t have made the playoffs” - Tantalum, MS, Y2KCanucks, et al., Oh, and Benning wanted Glass over Pettersson.
