  1. Miller-Pettersson-Boeser Garland-Horvat-Podkolzin Pearson-Dickinson-Hoglander Motte-Sutter-Highmore MacEwen OEL-Hamonic Hughes-Poolman Rathbone-Myers Demko Halak
  2. I’m wondering if the Oilers will make Ethan Bear available if they resign Barrie? Bear is 24 and plays the right side and tends to play a two way game if I understand correctly. Blocks shots, etc.
  3. Would be a nasty right side for sure. I like the fact that both Zadorov and Hakanpaa are still in their 20’s.
  4. Would like this as well as Zadorov can play the right side. My only minor complaints with Z is that 1) He's actually a left handed defenseman 2) his defensive game is a bit suspect at times due to laziness. He is a nasty piece of business however. Would love to kick the tires on him if we can't land Savard or Hakanpaa.
  5. The flip side of keeping Kesler is that it would have lead to a potential toxic and uncomfortable situation in the locker room much like what we saw with Luongo/Schneider (which arguably helped contribute to the demise of the Gillis era Canucks post 2012). Kesler basically held a gun to Benning's head and said Anaheim or Chicago, nowhere else and so Benning's options were severely limited here. When other GM's know that you are dealing from a position of weakness, they call the shots. It's an unfortunate reality, but it is reality. So - that right there should put to rest any "cream dreams" that you may have been having about Shea Theodore at the time.
  6. I mean, lets look at our team as far as picks go shall we? Miller-Pettersson-Boeser (Miller came from our 2020 1st) Garland-Horvat-Podkolzin (Garland came from our 2021 1st) Pearson-Dickinson-Hoglander (Dickinson came from a 3rd rounder / Pearson was a derivative of McCann (1st), 2nd, and 4th). Motte-Sutter-Highmore (Motte came from a 3rd round pick) MacEwen Hughes-Hamonic OEL-Myers Rathbone-Juolevi Demko ??? The departed: -Virtanen -Gaudette -Tryamkin On his way: -Dipietro So, with respect to Dhaliwal, and other HF guys that say that we 'bleed picks' and don't draft and develop well, I highly suggest that you look at the above post.
  7. I would love this option. Canucks need good young RHD assets.
  8. After we re-up Petey, Hughes, and Dickinson, along with signing another goalie, I don’t think we will have enough space for Dougie Hamilton......but damn dude, can you &^@#ing imagine?!?! Miller-Pettersson-Boeser Garland-Horvat-Podkolzin Pearson-Dickinson-Hoglander Motte-Sutter-Highmore MacEwen Hughes-Hamilton OEL-Hamonic Rathbone-Myers Schenn Demko Halak
  9. Let’s see what term and money is before labeling it as a nightmare eh? Faceoffs and PK’ing abilities galore.
  10. I am talking about your boy Hakanpaa and I also agree that he is what we need.
  11. I’m glad that we didn’t go after him. Left handed shot + not overly physical + decent defensively but not a juggernaut in that respect or anything like that. Not what we need. Savard or Hakanpaa please.
  12. Agreed. Was going to edit what I said when you quoted me.
  13. He’s good for about 8-9 goals a season which is decent 4th line production if I understand correctly. Aside from that, it’s his face off abilities and PK abilities that will provide a benefit and use for this team.
  14. I don’t mind the signing at all if it’s 2 million or under. The Canucks will need a good RH face off guy that can kill penalties and provide bottom 6 scoring. If Boyd wants to test free agency, then I have no problem at all in bringing Sutter back.
  15. This is a nice pipe dream but I don’t think it will be feasible. With Ferland LTIR, we have about 29.5 million in cap space. Hamilton would cost 9.5 million while Petey and Hughes will cost 7 million each if we are lucky. So, 23.5 million here. Dickinson = 2.7 million + Hamonic + 2.5 million + money for Halak + money for OJ, etc. I’m not sure I see it.
  16. My “let’s move Tyler Myers using Jack Rathbone as a sweetener proposal” is just around the corner. :-p
  17. Agreed. Was one of my think out loud posts but I definitely wouldn’t go this route either.
  18. I’m not sure if I trust OEL and Myers being on the same pairing as one another. That could be asking for defensive trouble. But yeah - nice to be on the same page! :-p ps -.........dare I dream? Miller-Pettersson-Boeser Hoglander-Horvat-Garland Pearson-Dickinson-Podkolzin Motte-Sutter-Highmore MacEwen OEL-Hakanpaa / OEL-Hamilton Hughes-Savard / Hughes-Hamonic Rathbone-Myers / Rathbone-Myers Schenn Demko Halak
  19. Agreed. I’d keep Rathbone due to his ceiling, and due to the fact that we wouldn’t be able to get full value for Rathbone when taking his ceiling into consideration. Juolevi for a good bottom 6 player might be doable (or OJ for a RD with lower upside)
  20. [proposal] Ryan Murray might not be such a bad investment He’s a defensive defenseman He’s 27 years old and will be 28 in September He’s had a bit of a history with injuries which will naturally lower the term and money that he’d be able to command. The presence of Murray could allow for OEL to be used in more offensive situations while Murray would assume more defensive responsibilities. Given the above, the Canucks would likely be able to sign him at decent term and money. Yes, he’s a LHD, but more defensive defensemen in any form right now is a good thing for this club. Who knows? One of Rathbone or Juolevi could be moved for help in another position. OEL-Hamonic Hughes-Savard Murray-Myers Schenn ps - if the Canucks were to go this route, I’d try and see what type of young RHD prospects that we could get for both Rathbone and Juolevi. Who knows? Maybe a Braden Schneider or Bode Wilde type returns of Rathbone and Juolevi respectively (and yes, I do realize that I’m being crazy optimistic here).
  21. Miller-Pettersson-Boeser Hoglander-Horvat-Garland Pearson-Dickinson-Podkolzin Motte-Boyd-Highmore MacEwen OEL-[SavardOrHakanpaa] Hughes-Hamonic [RathboneOrJuolevi]-Myers Schenn Demko Halak
  22. I can’t see Sutter being brought back at 2 million to be our 4th line C. Guys like Boyd and Highmore were brought in for specific reasons and I believe that they’ll be given ample opportunity to own that 4th line C spot. Boyd in particular is RH. Hughes and Hamonic didn’t mesh all that well last year and so I’m not sure why you want to see them paired up. I’m also not sold on an OEL-Myers pairing to be very good defensively but I’d love to be proven wrong. I do like your suggestion of Garland and Boeser switching places however. I always felt that Boeser was stylistically a better fit for Horvat, in that, Horvat could win board battles and create space for Boeser to set up shop.
  23. Vatanen could be had on a cheap one year but I think he’s too washed up. Ryan Murray could probably be had on a very good long term low cap deal due to his injury history. He has a pretty good two way shut down game when healthy. Bogosian, Stone, and Ceci all suck and so pass. Schenn will be our 6th or 7th dman. Hamilton is all but confirmed for NJ. My hope is that we go hard after one of Hakanpaa or Savard and land him. Rathbone can possibly used as a trading chip for piece up front. OEL-Hamonic Hughes-[Savard/Hakanpaa] Juolevi-Myers
