  1. There was something quite odd with that Toffoli situation, gave up considerable assets to acquire him, seemed like a perfect fit, and he took a very reasonable deal in Montreal. Maybe didn't fit the room?... I dunno, but they moved away from him pretty quick
  2. He's definitely banged up, but if he is being used to kill penalties and take shorthanded defensive zone draws, it's not as bad as we are assuming.... no coach is going to throw out a guy shorthanded who is nursing an injury so severe that he's a liability. It looked more like they were trying to add more balanced playmaking to the 2nd line for a new look, while re-uniting Pearson and Toffoli... it worked in Game 2, Vegas adjusted, so back to the drawing board. and its all just pure opinion, we actually have no idea what's really going on, no point in a dragged out speculation war back and forth.. so I will concede and we'll see what adjustments are made tonight.
  3. That's cool, I'm not one to argue semantics, but my "unsourced" claim is the NHL.com box scores... it has him at 2 def zone draws at 5 v 4, and 1 neut zone draw at 5 v 5 http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20192020/FS030233.HTM I would of let it all die for the sake of chat flow, but I dont much appreciate being accused of talking out of my south side lol I agree with all the other stuff, like I said before, swap Pearson and Miller... now is not the time to hone Petey's face off game
  4. yea, c'mon dude, don't be lumping Pettersson's game in with the Sedins and Naslund, they are all similar on the finesse side... but on the defensive side Pettersson is a puck hound, blocks shots, and probably has the most 200 ft game of any "finesse" guy I've ever watched. More blocked shots than Mackinnon and Marchand and one less hit than Mark Stone, he's not some bruising power forward, but I wouldn't be questioning that guy's toughness at all... I've seen him dive in front of sure goals multiple times this playoff run.
  5. Miller took 3 face offs last night and went 3 for 3, he's not going to take them on Bo's line unless he gets thrown out, but saying that I'd rather swap Miller and Pearson. Vegas adjusted to the line changes made in Game 2, and bounced back in the FO circle after getting their meal handed to them, we'll see what Travis counters with tonight.
  6. I mean I know Roussell is a pain in the ass and all, but there is no way he has been so undisciplined that he should be leading the Playoff PIM by a full 20 minutes more than the next active skaters... all of a sudden its 10 min game misconducts for jostling and shoving in scrums/before face offs, teams like Boston and St Louis would have no players left if this was applied evenly
  7. no joke hey... ready to pack it in after a flat game with the series 2-1, you'd think they'd earned a little faith by now
  8. and thankfully St Louis only really had the lead for an extended time in game 4, outside of that game they only played with the lead for just over 17 minutes... so basically the Canucks led that series for the equivalent of 5 whole games haha. We had to move on so quickly to the next round, that we won't really be able to appreciate how dominant they were in that series until the playoffs are over and we can look back and reflect.
  9. Not to mention last night's loss wasn't due to some elite level out-coaching clinic. If we are looking at keys to the game, witness a battle-tested playoff-seasoned team full of Vets, going up against a newly-minted playoff-fresh team with a young core. A young core still learning how to win consistently, but susceptible to the ebb & flow emotional rollercoaster of playoff hockey. If the quality and adaptability of the coaching was a glaring issue, we would've been bounced by Minnesota in the play-ins or absolutely demolished by the now ex-cup champion Blues.. the fact that the boys are even here is a testament to how solid the coaching has been. Pretty short memory to have a sky-is-falling finger point at this time.
  10. Ferland fighting in the first game against the Wild was incredibly foolish, however even if he had played it safe and made it out of the play-in round, there is no way he would of lasted against the Blues with the big hits they were throwing. At this point its a question mark, and unsafe for him to even play one shift. Its incredibly sad, the guy is a warrior.
  11. If you wanted to see a bottom six with little returns, I would normally suggest to watch the Oilers/Flames/Leafs/Sabres games.... but you can't, because they are long gone at the moment. If you think being in the 2nd round, battling the best team in the West after knocking out the defending champs is a "little return", then I'm not sure what to say to you. The hard minutes they play, defensive prowess, and the ability to safely roll 4 lines all game, without constantly getting burnt, is a huge factor in being where we are now.
  12. What a "clutch" topic to use for my first comment. Query: Name me something that goes sour faster than a cup of milk out in the sun.......?
