  1. Probably not the D we need, but the D this management has thought we've needed haven't worked out so well, so... I'd rather this guy than some of the 37 year old FAs that are being linked to the team
  2. My point was no reason to carry that 633K for rooster next year when we can bury him in the minors and save the same amount as a buyout, without the extra year of 633K Buyout saves us 1.26M, burying him saves us 1.125M. Carry the extra 115K this year to avoid the 633K next year seems way better
  3. For pure offensive ability I agree. I do however think Hyman is a more well rounded player, but with where this team is at Saad would be the better add IMO
  4. Can we just sign Hyman and play him with Highmore. Seems like a very worthy Vancouver line lol The High line... FML that this makes me laugh
  5. No point in buying out Roussel as his cap would carry over to next year. We can bury him in the minors and save the same amount without it costing us next year. Buyout Virtanen and Holtby if needed, total cost savings of 6.3M this season and only costs us 2.4M next year
  6. I'll be bold as all our player aside from the list below can easily be replaced Protect: 8 + 1 Horvat, Petey, Miller, Pearson, Lind, Gadjovich, Motte, Juolevi & Demko. If we loose Schmidt, Myers or Holtby I could care less, cap savings to go after someone better/cheaper. Ok Lind And Gadj can be replaced as well, but lets see what they bring to the table before giving up on them
  7. Maybe this will help OP with timeline of events for the offseason
  8. Not sure why anyone would think a bridge deal is bad, it's pretty much the new norm in the salary cap era. Short enough term we still hold RFA rights and then can approach the 8 year deal. Its a win for any management team IMO.
  9. Hijacker, I was hoping we'd get back to the plot of this thread, seems you missed the point of what I had to say and that I irritated you... It's cool we do not have age requirements to post on these forms as a fan is a fan regardless of age. What we do need is some way of removing the immature that can't have a debate with out resorting to name calling or personal attacks
  10. I'm not sure how a threat about 2 of our stars has got into a Dick wielding contest, but damn, get your &^@#ing heads in the game. Petey will be protected making an offer sheet from Seattle a moot point, and when FA starts, if not already signed we will match an offer sheet... QH cannot sign an offer sheet. So I could give to $&!# about what you read on some back hand internet site you've read about how things work. Read the damn CBA and come with real facts and leave your pissing contest at home
  11. I'm just glad the season is over so our dim witted front office can get to work... Wait, oh damn, not sure I'm happy about that either... Well at least I have a couple days reprieve before I start pulling my hair out again... All kidding aside Tampa Bay built a fantastic team and out played Montreal, regardless of how people feel about the cap, Tampa was the better team. Congrats! At least we are not the Flames still clinging to our "Win" in 04 that was really a loss...
  12. Fox made it clear to the Flames organization as well as Carolina that he was not going to sign with them.
  13. I'm not sure we have the right teacher, but these 2 are pretty smart guys, hope they succeed in turning this franchise into what it was in their glory days. Also gives them the chance to win the cup that got away
  14. Did we fire Benning ? I'm all for what you are selling but I'm sure when the season rolls around we'll all hear the same rhetoric. We had to offer longer term and more money to get players to come play here...
  15. Eriksson signs 4 year extension @ 12M per Benning - Eriksson bring character to the room, players love hating him, he is the perfect scape goat... I cannot lose my job as long as I blame him...
  16. Eriksson is not going anywhere, stranger things have happened, but he'll be part of the organization for another year... As for Beagle, sounds like his injury could be career threatening, he'll be LTIR next season. If you really want to give up pick for someone to take Roussel look to Seattle, I'm sure they'd take a 2nd to draft him. As for 9th OA I would select Johnson, kid is going to be a stud, probably end up being one of the better wingers to come out of this draft IMO
  17. Not sure how credible this person needs to be, they are not wrong...
  18. Jasek signed with Lahti Pelicans of the Finnish Liiga.
  19. Better question is what team puts a LW in at 3rd line center when his stat metrics show he is incapable of controlling play at the position, think his corsi was low 40 percentile playing center... This Miller for 3rd line center thing needs to die, it was done out of necessity, not out of want
  20. Had a hard time cracking a weak NYR roster and did not play a single NHL game for TB. 76 total games in the NHL at 28, probably better options on the market
  21. Issue I see with Ferland returning is we are still a soft team and Ferland is probably the best stick up for your teammate player we have. If we don't add a little more of that Ferland may feel he needs to do it himself and end right back up on LTIR. Ferland when in the line up adds an element we sorely need, just have to think about the person here though, I would rather him see his family grow up while he is somewhat healthy than risk another concussion
