  1. He is 2.55 aav this year and 1.4 next year I believe with his extension, so it’s one year of higher price. He dropped off from his rookie years in Philly, but he had a good camp, and is coming into a Ds prime years. He may not be a deal breaker but he would have been solid as a 5/6 D for us, allowing us to keep people on their better sides and have inf more balance. next season at 1.4 if the experiment didn’t work he would be moveable, but if it did we have a decent RHD at a good price
  2. Tampa only sent him down so they could hit the maximum relief for their ltir. They didn’t want to lose him. By all accounts he had a good camp. if we trade for him we give up more assets when we could have had him for free, plus I don’t think we would want to pay the price for him in a trade.
  3. We might get some day one trades in order for people to jig around the cap they need. But tampa took a risk in sending down myers but it paid off for them. We won’t get an opportunity to get a RHD with a decent aav again
  4. Dammit was hoping we would claim P Myers. Yea cap would be a juggle but would be worth it for a RHD
  5. Nah disappointment is where we would go for some hope.
  6. About an hour till we find out. Even if we don’t get anyone will be interesting how it shakes out across the league
  7. I was all for trying to get myers out of Philly when he was an RFA. Not sure what’s happened since but it’s worth a punt if he falls that far
  8. It’s a case of not having beagle or sutter so the defensive centre role wasn’t there at all. Beagle was a guy you could throw out to take a defensive draw with offensive wingers didn’t matter on what his ‘line’ was. sutter was a 3c. without either we had no one hence Dickinson. He isn’t and wouldn’t be a direct sutter replacement as sutter has/had more offence than him. But he was supposed to be a bottom 6 defensive stalwart reliable guy.
  9. If you have a smart tv rather than huddle around cast to it and watch it instead. It’s what I do when watching games over here in the uk.
  10. Sucks we essentially paid a second and third. but I understand the rationale behind getting Dickinson. No longer having beagle and sutter in the bottom 6 was an issue as even though they were overpaid for their roles, they were good in their roles. dickinson in theory was a better cap fit for the same role. A role he did well in Dallas. For whatever reason he just wasn’t able to replicate that in a Canucks jersey. I don’t call it a bad move to get him, as the rationale was sound, just yet another player unable to replicate success here
  11. In the UK was an article the other day, that because of the way the tax system works and the pricing structures, public fast charging stations were only about 3p per mile cheaper than diesel, and with increasing energy costs the gap is narrowing. I would imagine that with BC hydro being such a large producer you are sheltered to some degree from a similar fate
  12. UK pricing and makeup. while Canada is different it shows the pricing issue we have had. I would imagine the cost is probably down to the oil and gas costs from the wholesaler not from the retailer, while I know it’s differently priced in Canada a global issue will still impact this
  13. I have the tablet as well I usually use that over the laptop screen but it’s easier if I’m typing to use the laptop with both screen. I could go TV laptop and tablet as well but I would then need to cast to the tv from a device. At that point I may as well just use less things and go to the computer desk
  14. To quote an old school game I loved. The stage is set, the green flag drops. Let the carnage begin!!!
  15. Laptop, docking station/box and duel monitor set up has you sorted. That my night
  16. It’s a midnight and one am start here so will get a chance to watch this rather than the 3 to 330 am usual starts
  17. It’s interesting. They must see something or are wanting to see something there. I don’t think he will be what the leafs fans expect him to be but having a good camp is a good start for him
  18. The Irish. whether some people use it or not doesn’t make it correct. could care less And couldn't care less are a good example of this. one is wrong however it’s now entered modern parlance.
  19. It’s not that simple, yea Germany was over reliant but that was a political move - what Germany was trying to do was bring Russian closer to Europe via trade and commercial ties. It’s a laudable aim but it didn’t work. the whole of Europe is hurting at the moment because of the international market pricing. UK actually uses very very little Russian gas. However the impact on the economy has been massive as the wholesale cost has gone through the roof. It doesn’t matter that we have a large offshore industry because it’s not public owned we are susceptible to volatile pricing. even France who has a large amount of their energy makeup via nuclear has forced EDF to fix pricing and I believe there is a battle now between EDF and the French government over the cost of this to the tune of 8 billion. it is a price we have to pay but if you are somewhat shielded from it in NA then you will not know the scale of hurt that is going on with European consumers. In the UK we are about to be plunged into recession and have a serious high risk of Stagflation. Brexit is a part of it but when you look across the Eurozone it’s made it worse in the UK but it’s not the reason
  20. It’s common in the UK and Spain ( not sure about France and germany or Italy) for premier league teams to run their own tv and media productions. They also have fan segments and produced content as well (AFTV for arsenal is a good example) so I’m fine with having it done in house. However I guess the difference is we have local public news radio which also covers the team (bbc local)
  21. Who is this St Patricia? Patrick comes from Pádraic/Padraig (potentially these are derived from Latin Patricus). Paddy is a derivative of this. Hence why depending on its use the Irish have been referred to as Paddy’s and why a lot of Irish view American Irish as plastic paddy’s. Patty is a derivative of Patricia or a slab of ground meat.
  22. I’m fine with the change. The vertical striping jarred against the horizontal striped, pick one direction and stick to it.
  23. It’s not BS it’s a case of global demand outstripping current production (opec could open the taps but why would they) demand drives up the price and unless the chain is public then these prices will be passed down. The majority of the cost will come from the increased cost of the resource from the extractors not the refining or forecourt prices. however I would imagine like in the UK when prices go up, it’s reflected quickly at the pumps when it goes down it takes a while for it to filter through. There are reasons such as hedging costs for the future impact pricing today, and when the refined goods are delivered and how frequently a forecourt gets restocked that will cause sole fluctuations though. but ultimately this is direct cause of the embargo on Russian oil. Even if Canada doesn’t use any others have had to get their from other sources and thus driven up the costs for everyone including Canada
