  1. Possibly watching in the UK. also that to many men call was a weak makeup call
  2. Look at the conversion rates for the wild forwards this season though. They are not a high scoring team but their forward corp actually all except 1 are above 50 for the season. They are an effective group
  3. Poor execution a few times is on the players but the amount of times it’s happened this year is more than a player issue. It’s strikes of bigger issues. - Does the system we play suit the type of players we have? - Have the players not bought into the system - are the players confused about what the coach/system wants them to do - is there a clear game plan or are we allowing players to much freedom to express themselves on the ice resulting in a disjoin/miss communication between players?
  4. If you compare green to Av. AV at the moose did well because of his coaching Green seems to have succeeded at Utica despite his coaching, having good players handed to him, and then letting them do their thing worked. at NHL level it’s not enough
  5. If the players haven’t executed well all year then it’s a coaching issue
  6. Attack triangle would work if done at high speed. i think to be honest shooting from the D was deliberate and not just because they were forced back to make those shots. In theory it’s fine, but we had no one crashing the net for a tip, or parking their fat ass in front of the netminer being a pest. if your going to shoot from d you need that, if you want to use speed you need a 2 man aggressive forecheck and the third man looking to jump forward to the net for a quick snapshot
  7. I’m not saying it Doesn’t gives them a momentum swing And help them out. My point is that regardless of that the performance was poor, the decision making poor, the passing poor, the line rolling matchups poor, team selection look wrong. by focusing just on the refs it papers over these deficiencies. if the team played hard and well, and the line matchups were ran well, then I would give more stock on the ref calls. But there was a lot more than the refs that stank tonight
  8. I do think we need a new coach as green just seems out his depth. but the issues go a lot deeper. We don’t really have a team identity or a clear style of play, we rely a lot on individual skill to get by. the coaching structure needs focus from special teams to defensive structure to offensive zone entry. I think without understanding exactly how we want to play we will always struggle. We need clear communication between GM and coachBig so that players being brought in fit the system, and that we have a clear system
  9. I don’t disagree about the bad reffing but as a team we were not good enough tonight. The lack of shots during the PP, the lack of creativity, the lack of grade a scoring chances means that regardless of the poor reffing we wouldn’t have won that game.
  10. It’s still hockey though it’s not like it’s a completely different sport. I get the argument for say a cricketer going from test to t-20 or the other way as although it’s still cricket the stroke play and tactics are different. playoffs are just a multi game series of hockey.
  11. Any NUFC fans on here, pretty despondent after the PIF withdrawal from their bid
  12. Question. why doesn’t a game ever face off on time, like ever? in UK if a football or rugby match kicks off at say 3:30pm you can bet that within 30s of that time the game would have started. in the NHL it seems like it’s constantly 10-20 mins after this time that the match actually starts
  13. Yep remember watching the series. Absolutely wrecked me time one wise (tbh following the Canucks is not good for sleep over here unless it’s the midday face off)
  14. Which is fine if you then have a screen set and go for the tip, which we don’t, or if you play a slapper off the backboard to bounce into the mix
  15. It’s a 5 game series. also before this game people on the boards were saying we are a younger team we will be off the mark quicker than a slower vet team. can we win this series, yes but not if we play the same as we did this game.
  16. Defensively we are all over the shop, this season and again this game how many time do we see an opposition player completely unmarked right in front of markstrom. for the second goal as well it’s typical from all season, the wild player had time to go get himself a coffee before taking a shot he had that much space, to me it’s not the D it’s the system
  17. Can we not just replace Green with say Daryl Sutter (coax him out of retirement) or Randy Carlyle
  18. Agree - compare Eriksson with Staal at the wild and it’s night and day, and I don’t think it’s just down to the players. Staal got a reasonable contract considering he was coming if a relative poor season, but is playing well due to being in a team with a clear structure and identity. Eriksson comes of a relative strong season and gets a whoper if a contract and then seems lost. The contract may have something to do with it (JB looking at you) but ultimately I think their is a lack of team identify and play style. the wild could play on autopilot and still perform, we rely on individual magic. To me that shows poor coaching
  19. For me I will blame poor officiating if we played well. However we played poor so blaming the refs is just deflecting that the issue was with our team.
