I’m glad this distraction can finally be put in the rear view. They said that we needed major surgery, and it seems to me like this is it, or at least the beginning. Bo was great for us but as our performance has shown in recent years, for whatever reason, the group hasn’t had great results with him as the captain. It was time for a different direction. I hope this is the beginning of us getting back to some winning hockey.

Calling Bo a 60 goal scoring center is just flat out wrong. If you’re underwhelmed because you think we’re trading a goal scorer of that calibre, then no return we could have possibly got would satisfy you. I understand being upset with the trade as Bo has been a warrior for us over the years , but lets try to be realistic with what this trade really is.

I honestly don’t understand it. Like you said, coaches of underperforming teams get fired all the time. This team has been trash and there had been no signs that Boudreau and his staff were implementing anything to improve it. Yeah, maybe the timing was a little weird, but the plug needed to be pulled. If he wasn’t such a personable guy people would be on board with this coaching change.

Edit- Rick Tocchet Expected To Be Next Head Coach
Kenny Blankenship replied to BertaNuck's topic in Canucks Talk
While I don’t necessarily agree with how things have been handled, these are the hard decisions that this franchise needs to make. What we have now is clearly not working, and my hope is that if we are making a coaching change, that we instill a more hard nosed and defensively disciplined style of play. Give Tocchet the year to see who doesn’t fit the mould and clean house. I will agree that it’s hard seeing Bruce like that. Seems like a great guy, but we do need to change the culture of this squad. -
It’s a tough situation. Brock has the puck skills and iq to be successful but doesn’t have the foot speed to create space for himself. Unless a team see’s him as a trigger man on a powerplay, which he hasn’t been in a long while, I don’t see any reason why a team would want to pay up to trade for him. What a mess this roster has become.

Whoever designed that jersey should be fired lol

Sure maybe there may have been things lost in translations and maybe it wasn’t the most fluid interview. That being said, it is still quite a large overreaction to a preseason interview. I guess I just don’t really understand the nitpicking quite this early in the season for such a trivial thing

Talk about making something outta nothing. Sheesh

[Signing] Senators re-sign Tim Stutzle

I understand that he’s a good player, but I think he’s quite overhyped. Nothing about the player screams superstar to me. Contract seems pretty steep. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller

I do agree that they spent more than they had wanted, but that’s kinda how negotiations work. You gotta pay up to keep premium players. I just think at this point with the suspected offers and the possibility of Miller walking, that this worked out pretty well for us. -

Buckled? I’d say they got fair value relative to other contracts signed this summer. -

I like it. Could certainly have been a lot worse. Let’s just hope that the cap consistently raises going forward.
