Would you make this trade? [Proposal]
Sativika replied to CanucksJay's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Quite frankly......a hard, NO! Thank you. Best regards, Me. Go Canucks go! -
The Canucks would be better off moving Elias Pettersson than Bo Horvat
Sativika replied to Ruthervin's topic in Canucks Talk
Do you guys think Petey is really that impatient to win a SC? I think he's got a good enough head on his shoulders to know this team is a ways off to SC contention. Probably would like to win more games. But that goes without saying to any NHL player. It seems to me that he's willing to be in it for the long haul. The Avs championship took 'em 8 years since they got Nathan MacKinnon 1st overall. The consensus seems to be that Petey is our legitimate superstar to help bring us to the promised land. However needless to say, we are in dire need of other star type players in all positions. Especially on D. As mentioned previously in this and other threads of this ilk; we gotta move on from players that no longer fit our profile. No need to repeat who they are. To me, the real keepers on this team are Petey, Huggy, Kuz and maybe Demmer, Pods, Bear.....yet to be determined is Hogs and other prospects we've been trying out throughout this season. And let's not forget our projects; Klimovich, Lekkerramaki, Boner, and prospects we're high on, but not necessarily in love with, Bains, Di Giuseppe, Karlsson, E. Petttersson, and others. With somewhat promising prospects, and the addition of the more picks acquired from trades, we just might get ourselves a Noah Dobson type in trade. And any of the first five to ten 1st rounders or so would net us a significant player. Of course Bedard would be the most desired. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
Sativika replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
As much as I love the former and can take or leave the latter, this makes sense regarding moving on. If we can land Bedard, that'll be the one that makes us a contender. (Save for a Ginimbus right side top teer Dman!) He's be our Crosby, and Petey the Malkin. We can bring up some youngens to compete for 3rd centre. Linus, Danila, Lane, Aman! And we got a bevy of top grade winger prospects in Lekkerimaki, Hogs 'n' Pods, Di Guiseppe, McDonough, Bains! And let's not forget our mighty D prospects, (All a work in progress, I might add!) Woo, Juulsen, Pettersson, Boner, Wolanin...... ............................................................LET'S DOOOOOOOOOOOOO IIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........................................... We'd be sucky, or mediocre for a bit, but we're doing it get us more early round drafts. Stock 'em up, and then trade 'em off with bad contract roster player to get what we need to boost us up. -
[PGT] Colorado Avalanche at Vancouver Canucks | Jan. 05, 2023
Sativika replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
This has the makings of a classic Swedish centre and Russian left wing combo, ala the Caps Backstrom and Ovechkin. Not that either of our duo would be uttered in the same sentence as the Caps pair, but they're a good facsimile. And at the moment, they're ours. Let's keep 'em together for the long haul! Go Canucks Go! -
I get that. But it seems we hang on longer than most. Well.....since the JB regime and a bit before. Examples of hanging' on too long.....Baertschi, Goldobin, Gaunce, Hutton, Gaudette, to name a few in addition to Virts and OJ. And may I add that we traded the wrong guy in Jared McCaan. Ya' can't have too many good centres! Anywho..... Regarding your last sentence. Ego gets the best of us. To admit to failure or mistakes is something some peeps can't handle well, and then they compensate by other actions. In my experience, lying or placing the blame on another person/factor to not lose face or whatever. In professional team sports? I guess you try your damnedest to correct the matter. And in the case of Virus and OJ well, I needn't say more. I know which what we have now is a recipe for mediocrity. Are we glass 1/2 full, or are we 1/2 empty. Whatever way ya' choose to look at it.......we're in the grey area of good/not so good. MEDIOCRITY! Yea. It was mentioned in another thread of letting everyone, save for Petey, Huggy, and Demmer go, and let the youngens play on the big team. Certainly would be an honourable thing to do, but we'd definitely be in the "beatable team" category for a bit. I dunno........I guess it's easier to handle than being in that category with overpaid older dudes! (Older meaning older than 25yrs. old)

True dat. Same goes for the Laffs when they got ousted in round 1....how many times? The difference betwixt us and them is they have 1st overall studs. 1st overall doesn't necessarily make one a stud. But there's no denying Mathews and McDavid are studs and their respective team's franchise players. They're building with not just playoffs in mind, but to win it all. But what are we building for. All teams wanna gear for the big one, of course, but in the real world of professional team sports, some are just not able to do it and they know it. I think we're one of those "not able" teams. Honestly, if an organization can build hope, then we can assume they get their wish and bring in some playoff revenue and we as fans go, "Oh well. There's always next time!" Honestly, I loved watching the Canucks in that bubble year. That "hope" thing is exactly what I'm talking about; squeaking in the bubble playoffs. It was mostly positive, wasn't it. I mean we, and the media waxed enthusiastic about bubble Demko, BoHo, Toffoli, Miller, Petey......need I go on? It brought smiles to our faces and good feelings even though we lost to Vegas in seven in the 2nd round. But that effort gave us hope, didn't it? Hope with trades and off season acquisitions, hope for the beginning of the next season. Hope, right? That seems to be what is going on with this team. Keep the fans happy and eventually something might/will happen. As JB said, and he's not the first to say so, "anything can happen in the playoffs!" That's a "hopeful" statement if I ever heard one. Maybe. Just maybe. Could this be the year? Are we that Cinderella team? Can we do it? Blah, blah, blah...Blah, blah, blah. Well gang......I'm afraid that these are the cards we're dealt for now. I'm alright if we get to play in the post season. Gives me something to cheer for.....until we're ousted by a better team. And it seems that every projected playoff bound team we'd be contested against, will be SC contenders. Yea. We need a Fairy Godmother and a Pumpkin Stagecoach for sure. (Metaphor!) Go Canucks Go!
-
What's his age? 18? He's got a ways to go. And growing. (Hopefully!) He can still play in the WJC for a few more years.
-
Yea. I remember that. Maybe that was the catalyst that sparked or doomed, if you will, the locker room dynamics within. Hence, "Toxic Environment!"
-
Studnicka, Pederson......no more plugs. However, if we're stocking up on plugs to make trades more attractive? (Well, maybe not attractive. More like, throw ins!) Naw! I'll stick with my original thought on this......NOPE!
-
Shoulda' tried harder to keep Toffoli. He was the game breaking winger we needed. But that's moot now...........aroo.

I liked when we acquired JTM. I liked what he brought to the team. I like him as a player. But when we had a chance to move the 99 point Miller this past off season, or a last deadline, I saw a real opportunity for us. My understanding that Management wouldn't accept any offer they deemed unworthy. To a point I get that. Who wants to get screwed or be laughing stocks in the NHL GM world. But signing him at 56mil????!?!??? Okay. I was mildly okay with that. But maybe we coulda' gotten a Bear/Pederson type trade with a prospect and couple of drafts thrown in. It may have been less than we wanted but ?!?!?!?!?!?!? you get it. And now JTM's integrity with work ethic and questionable team leadership qualities rears its ugly head even more so that last season. His lack of production isn't helping either. As I mentioned before, I like what he brings. But he's gotta tone down the outbursts, rev up his production and contributions and get down to playing good hockey again. Whether it be at centre or wing, I don't care. He's gotta get to it! In closing, and I've always felt this way since all the talk last season of a JTM trade.......Coulda', woulda', shoulda'??!??!????? We're gonna lose BoHo........aroo.

Does anyone know, or have any concrete "speculation" if you will, of why Schmidt, Holtby. Hamonic, or anyone else?!?!?!!???..............didn't like it here? I recall the term "toxic atmosphere " in the past regarding such. If indeed such is infiltrating the room/organization, then for pity sakes what can it be? Who or what is the catalyst that started it all. Is it anything to do with the previous management group? The current owner? Certain players? What? What? WHAT? Ahem.....uhmmmmm...........erm............. Go Canucks Go!

LOL! Great post, dude.

What movie title sums up this canucks season?

What about the old dude looking like JR! -
"Michigan" goals should be against the rules
Sativika replied to Gurn's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Needs alien, out of this world hand, eye co-ordination, but will we ever see a two or three way Michigan (lacrosse style) passing play? Perhaps in a lesser league, but not in the NHL. Well...............maybe.......... -
Why is anyone still posting in this thread. Dude is done in Van. Let it go already. Jeez!

Has Lockwood bulked up much? Upon looking up bios on him, he not big by NHL standards. (Whatever that is!) He's not as tall as Jannick, nor is he as thick as the marginally shorter Motte. But both said former Canucks are listed as sub 200 pounders. Lockwood is listed as a somewhat svelte 172 libs. I've always known that WL plays bigger than his size. And he's still a work in progress that is excelling his first perceived potential. I'll go out on a limb and predict he's gonna get in the line up to play. I mean, he was brought up to fill a roster spot with Aman being sent down, right?

[Poll] time to change up our PK (assistants) coaching staff?
Sativika replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Canucks Talk
Well? Do ya' wanna tank, or not! Kidding aside.......... I dunno. Maybe that was management's plan all along; bring in a flawed assistant coach in Yeo for Bruce, make BB look bad, give Bruce his walking papers, then watch our team with evil smiles, rubbing they're collective hands together in knowing they've hatched their evil plan to tank, dismantle the core, and draft Bedard. Seems logical.......or not! Guess I didn't put the kidding aside, huh.......... Go Canucks Go! -
I don't know all the ins and outs of bringing up prospects. Some can be brought up and others have restrictions or risks involved; waived and losing to other teams because of such. That being said.............. This ain't an unusual circumstance. Every team brings prospects who are excelling on the farm. Some make it, some don't, others get multiple looks throughout. Lockwood's one of the latter. I liked this kid from the get go. A RW with a feisty, physical style. Although smallish, he plays bigger than his size. Got a lil' worried when he got injured early on after drafting him. Guess he had to learn to tone down the physical aspects of his game to sustain longevity in his chosen career path. Anywhow, whatever he's doing, he's obviously getting it right. I hope when he gets his opportunity (Maybe this Saturday!) he gets to stick around for a good length of time. At least as long as Aman stuck!

[Value Of] What would it take to get Connor Bedard
Sativika replied to Paul-walker's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Pretty much this kinda scenario for sure! Probably add a 1st next year too. Unless we win the lottery for 1st overall, I wouldn't bother trying to get him. The cost is ultimately too high. It's pretty easy to be smitten by such a high prospect local boy. Why wouldn't you want a local kid with talent up the ying yang, who's a Canuck lover, and dreams of wanting to play for his home team. Unfortunately, local boy aside......EVERYBODY WANTS BEDARD!!!!!!!!!! 'Nuff said. Go Canucks Go! -
Well if we were to acquire this guy, he'd benefit Abbotsford more than the big club. Besides, we already have a RD in Juulsen who's bigger and has more NHL experience. Also RD Woo in the farm as well.
-
Did a lil' online search on this kid........... Apparently he was draft eligible last year and wasn't selected. He was ranked #288 in 2021. It's been a year since and honestly, I haven't paid attention to any Swiss involved games, but Biasca's player bio of a three zone, defensive minded style fits the Swiss mode. Another player whose name Don Cherry can screw up!

[Proposals] Boeser, Myers and Pearson traded
Sativika replied to BigTramFan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Trade on of our wingers for this guy....... Vladislav Gavrikov Stats and News | NHL.com He'll be a UFA. Not good, but I'm sure he can be signed in a cap friendly way for us. And he's a not so desirable LD, but dudes got character, is big and mobile. I'm sure there's other moves to do to get him that don't include Flow, but I'm sure Blue Jackets would like a player like Flow. Garland? Pearson?
