  1. Yea. On Sam Gagne playing in his 1000th NHL game. No particular reason. I just like the numbers! Go Canucks Go!
  2. Hmmm....let's see........Roster players not playing now or gone from last season........... OUT: Forwards - Pearson, Sutter, Hogs, Pods, Ferland, Chiasson, Motte, Tammy, Highmore, Dickinson, Richardson, Dowling, Petan Defence - Poolman, Dermot, Burroughs, Boner, Harmonic, Bowey, Hunt And guys brought in......... IN : Forwards - Kuz, Mykeyev, Josh. Dries, Aman, Studnicka, Pederson, Lazar Defence - Bear, Stillman In combination with said core above? Uhhhhhhhhh........No! I know some guys listed above are basically depth guys at the ready. And I know I didn't list the call ups...Brisebois, Lockwood, Juulsen....???? With those guys that are injured now, and assuming they return 100%, are we any better? Who sits and who plays?!?!?!?? I mean.....It'll be obvious that depth at forward positions will be strong. And I don't have to remind CDC'ers of our lacklustre depth at the defence position. Bear's a great acquisition. Stillman? Verdicts still out on him. I'm hoping. I'd like Poolman and Dermot to make a difference when they return 100%. Poolman seems iffy to me though. Hoping he gets back to health. Then we'll see. The season is yet long and not over. Between now and deadline? Something significant or not could happen to be sure. The cap sure makes it tough. When we talk of players that augment our own, it's very unfortunate that money is a factor. Like how many of you think it's okay to have a 3rd pairing d-man making 6mil? Not many. I mean seriously, coach should play whoever he wishes, where ever he wishes based on what is required regardless of how much he's paid. But noooo......... Moving this or that player to make us better is dependant on whether or not it fits into our cap situation. Not a new thing and many teams are in the same boat. I just wish we weren't. Go Canucks Go!
  3. Can someone explain to me the " Ellen Degeneres " metaphor? Anywho......... #1) Demko. I'd love to see him be the guy. The one; An original Canuck drafted goalie bringing the glory of a championship? Yea. I'd like that. Maybe we stick with Demmer through thick and thin. Break from usual Canuck history of trading for a goalie as contendership arises. #2) Huggy. Dude's amazing. Can he do it all for us? Sadly no. But will he become a Norris contender. Yep! However I agree. He needs a partner of significance to achieve such. #3) BoHo. I think it'd be a mistake to move him. Our definitive face-off guy, a true centre, leadership.......and let's not forget how he steps up his already top level abilities in playoffs. A 2nd in a killer 1-2 punch centre duo? Sometimes, but he's no Draisaitl, Malkin, or Forsberg. #4) Flow. Sadly, he's been the "Lemony Snicket" in a series of unfortunate events in his career with us thus far. Not the same since that agonizing back injury from slamming into that open bench door incident; Other various unrelated injuries, personal family sickness, loved one passing because of such, still grieving............well? Kids got a lot going' on. I've been there and don't blame him in the least. If the latter of those reasons for his seemingly lackadaisical efforts of late be the reason in part, then perhaps he needs a change. I love this kid. But if we have to let him go........ #5) Kuzy. Yes. Let's try to keep him. He's a perfectly great replacement for the absolute possibility of the loss of Flow. Kuzy will make us forget Flow's absence. #6) Milsy. I like him. Mind you, shoulda' traded him, but we didn't. I realize there's still a window of opportunity to do such. But as it is, if we're to have him around, so be it. I believe he was originally acquired in 2019 as a SC ring bearing vet leadership role type guy, (26yr. old Vet?!?!?!??), to our young 19yr. old EP40 types. I presume at 19, a 26 yr' old is a vet of sorts. He'll play a role of significance in playoffs for sure. No denying that. None of these guys can do it alone. As a core with a significant supporting cast upgrade? Absolutely!. Need I say more? So.....uhhhh....erm......what's the deal with " Ellen Degeneres " again?!??!?!??? Go Canucks Go!
  4. Agree with your comment of a top level LHD is fine. I believe the top d-pairing of Pronger/Niedermayer were both LHD. As far as Schenn, BoHo, Milsy, Petey.......I'd like to see 'em all as Canucks. Assuming such a scenario of said players still with us, Perhaps we do what the Jets did and abolish a definitive Captain next season. Less pressure on the leadership core. Give 'em all A's and go from there. But who knows what's gonna happen in the next few weeks in the new year.......aroo....... Go Canucks Go!
  5. All I can say is.......... WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Go Canucks Go!
  6. Tuesday here in Victoria, we got bombarded. But I guess I'm one of those who's kinda' cocky about my winter driving prowess. I'm from the Alberni Valley and pretty much learned my chops there. Mind you in RWD cars and trucks. My first snow experience with a FWD vehicle was right here in Victoria. FWD is soooo much better in snow. I've yet to experience 4WD or AWD in the snow, or any terrain for that matter. But for snow, I've never felt the need to convert. Listen up though. In all the decades of winter driving I've done, I've always had dedicated winter snow tires on. Always installed on all 4 corners. If you think your Yokohama M&S rated All Season tires, or whatever all seasons are gonna get you around reliably, think again. I'm seeing so many drivers out there that I know are driving around still without snow tires. Simple turns at intersection are blocked off by them because they're slipping and sliding, not going anywhere. And stopped on an up hill, trying to proceed forward? Forget it. Good f#ckin' luck, dudes! On Tuesday when the snowing subsided, I decided to clear my cars of snow, (a '97 Mazda MX6 and '11 Ford Fusion) and warm 'em up. Dudes. I didn't even have to dig my cars out. As soon as they were cleared I drove them out and went for a lil' cruise. Fun times. Practically no one else on the road. Fresh, unplowed roads everywhere and no problems. Now I will say there's a certain knack to snowy driving. Plan your route. Even though I have snow tires, it's still a good idea to drive where you know you won't get stuck behind some snow tireless moron. But sometimes that does happen. Avoid hills if you can. Try to stay on main roads that are plowed. Don't tailgate. And for pity sakes....Slow the f#ck down. Go Canucks Go!
  7. Wow. Well written, well thought out thread, dude. There is one paragraph here that stood out to me that pretty much nails most of us in CDC............ ....."Look I understand a lot of this is rooted in trying to be optimistic for the team as Canucks fans. But optimism should be balanced with a sense of reality, which is something felt people here have kind of lost a bit. They are too optimistic and defensive of the team anyone criticizing them is met with hostility....." To be honest, when your team is playing so inconsistently as they have been this season thus far, well.........it's hard not to be judgemental. I, and many others in CDC can't help to be passionate about our Canucks. We luv 'em too much. And therein lies the reason behind the myriad of criticism; Optimistic, pessimistic, realistic, terrific, horrific, or whatever. By and large, we're an impatient bunch in CDC. We want results right now and we search for reasons why we're not getting 'em.
  8. To be honest, I really thought that was happening when Linden/Benning were taken on. Basically, Linden got screwed, and JB was to much of an Aquaman corporate schmo. I get that Aquaman is every much a passionate Canucks fan as any CDC'er. Without knowing for sure, it seemed Aqua's meddling was a factor in our prolonged misery. Dunno....does it seem like he's learned the hard way and is giving his hockey management some leeway now?!?!?!?? The current JR/PA team seems to be executing what they intended from the get go. That is, acquiring younger players, increasing team speed, (more speed wouldn't hurt); it seems they're building around the top three of Demmer, Petey, and Huggy. The other thing they're trying to do, as mentioned when hired was our management, was to deal with our devastating cap mess left by the previous management. They seem to be finding that doing so, is no easy task. I'm flummoxed by the JT Miller signing though. It seemed totally against what they're saying in their plans to get the ship sailing again. Still in cap hell and no sign of it getting better. well............ Yea. I can totally stomach a rebuild. Let's just do it or not already!!!!!!!!!
  9. Ahhh....But tonight's also a good example of how we're gonna be if we blow up the team, Petey included. The thing is that, are Huggy, Petey, Demmer still gonna fit the young team profile when we get good enough to be contenders? Would we be rebuilding around said core? I presume much like what was down when the Sedins came into their own. Wow. We've a long way to go. Believe me, I'm not in any way saying that Petey wouldn't play his heart out whenever he's on the ice for us. However his inclusion in the line up, though beneficial, is not gonna prevent management from moving beloved core pieces. Basically Petey or not......we're bound for Bedard!
  10. I'm a big Petey fan, but also partial to Boho as well. There's no doubt in any which way that trading Petey wouldn't net us a huge haul of top prospects, #1 draft picks and decent roster players right off the get go. If that were the case, then BoHo becomes a veteran presence for the team as well as a leader. Now, that being said..... It's my belief that that the overall CDC majority would like to see BoHo traded. Sure, he'll get us a good haul, but not as eye opening as what Petey would net. In Boho we'd lose a league top face-off guy. I mean we all know how important that is to a team with supposedly offensive talent. Winning a FO could mean a win or a lost. Of course Boho's lighting it up right now. I think his offensive side has always been there. Just never really had the line mates to allow him to shine in the past. Sure. Trade Petey. While we're at it trade Huggy and Demmer as well. As mentioned previously, it means in doing so, we'd be in a re-build mode. Come on Aquaman. Let it happen.............or not?!?!?!?!? Go Canucks Go!
  11. Less games.......And bring back the all Canadian team division ala during the Covid bubble. But no bubble, of course!
  12. Really? Bo?!?!!???!!!? Dude's been having to play against other teams top lines for ages. Now that he's got some offence going, you guys think his defensive play is suffering now?!?!?!?!? Well.....perhaps so. As mentioned earlier, it could be the new coaching style and probably that Bo had to play with so many different line mates throughout is tenure with us, but jeez.............one of the worst?!?!?!???
  13. I'm with you here, but I'm sure Juls would be the call up for a RD. And even though Boner and Wols are LD, I'm pretty sure they'd be called upon before Wooo.......aroooooo.
  14. I dunno about the tiger bit!?!?!?? But in general, how's this kid doin' in Abby? Still a work in progress? Not good enough for the big club's depth chart yet?
  15. 'Cuz they're doing as we ask them to do.........TANK! But seriously...... There were moments of brilliance last night. Some good hustle and zone possession at times; Some good chances in close. Just seemed like the hockey gods weren't bestowing any puck luck. A few inches here and there woulda' made a difference in the outcome for sure. The line up changes for the 3rd period seemed to have been desperate moves to motivate the players and I think they had more hustle, but unfortunately the outcome they wanted, as we know, never came to fruition. Aroo...............
  16. I've been pullin' for this kid since we drafted him. I'm glad to see some positive comments lately in this thread. It would be cool to get this kid some time with the big club, but he's kinda' back there in the depth position for call ups though. And god forbid if he does get in to play, that means we've got injuries up the ying yang on D. Don't need that for sure!
  17. Is this draft touted to be one of the stronger drafts of recent years? Say like the 2005 draft?
  18. Those new additions are by and large younger too. And I believe they're buying into being Canucks. Really, as far as blowing up? Realistically it depends on where we are in the standings come deadline. I'm not saying that if we're in a playoff situation that we won't trade for assets. But at the same time given that in that scenario or not, well.......I don't think it logical to make moves just to bolster the team for such. But I definitely could see a significant move or two come deadline or off season regardless.
  19. Yea. I'm down. To be honest, I thought Woly woulda' been called up sooner after his pre-season showing. Glad to see he at least gets the call up now. I'm sure he's gonna play. Also....I'm liking the 6mil dollar man on our third pairing. Sure. Myers is payed like a star, but I think it's good coach management to place players where they'd be most affective, regardless of star status or pay grade.
  20. Watched on SN. They came out flying' and then they stopped and Martin got pulled. I switched the channel and watched 'Kickass.' But ever the devoted fan I am I went back to the game after the movie ended and lo and behold 'Nucks were down 4-2. Holy sh#t. It was an amazing, but not so well played comeback to be sure. Entertaining game, but fraught with blunders everywhere by both teams; mostly by us. That whole sequence of 4 unanswered goals in a row by the Habs, well.....we looked liked the Keystone Cops! Even during our comeback it was scary how they let Habs get chances. Whew! Well....a win is a win, right? Go Canucks Go!
  21. Not that I want to see these guys traded, inevitably, it's more likely that it happens. If that's the case, then we move them as a package to get us a RD that will compliment Huggy. I don't mean a Tanev type. I'm talking a Pronger type. In essence, I don't think Huggy is in the same caliber as a Hedman, Carlson, Burns or Doughty type. They're do it all type d-men. But someone that can skate like Huggy can benefit from a player partner as such. Say....like a Pronger/Niedermayer type deal.
  22. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Demko will be included in trade fodder. Our history shows that we've always made trades for top tier goalies when we're building a contender for playoffs. However, we're definitely not at that point yet. Not even close. Other than Dunc Wilson, was there any other originally drafted Canuck goalies that were the #1 in a playoff series? Hanlon?!?!?!?!?? I dunno.
