      One of our few kitchen gizmos to find a permanent home on a counter rather than the back of a drawer or closet.

      Re-heating pizza, making hot wings - all excellent  but for  true greatness bacon rules!

      Which guy gets you more at the trade deadline? If it’s a toss-up then I make the trade. Losing Boesser’s cap hit opens up a lot of possibilities and if we don’t like JK over the rest of the season then we can let him walk.

    I haven't been through the US border in ages. I know to bring my passport. Does my immunization card I got for covid shots is good enough for proof to enter the US? I know I need to fill out the ArriveCan app to get home.

    So, if the current world view is to remove/take down statues of people that were involved with slavery, why is it that the pyramids in Egypt are not being destroyed? Afterall, the Egyptians used slaves to build them!

      More than 420 Confederate statues and monuments were erected between 1900 and 1920 following the enactment of the Jim Crow laws. Coincidence or a reminder to freed slaves of their place in society?

    Nick Suzuki listed as one of the worst NHL contracts.  Habs are in big trouble.  Lots of bad contracts with term there.  Andersson and Hoffman are worse than Suzuki.

    For the OG Canuck fans: Would you have held on to Bobby Schmautz? or were you happy with how Odleiffson worked out? Finally reading Canucks in 40 and it sounded like Schmautz was a huge fan favourite that didn't last long, then was flipped for a guy who jumped ship to WHA, Walton who had 1 good season, and of course, Odleiffson.

      That was an absolutely horrible trade! Shmautzie was a fan favourite (“I’m Bobby Schmautz” was my go-to as a kid playing street hockey.)

       

      Shakey Walton and Fred O’Donnell both defected to the WHA immediately after the trade. We were left with Chris Oddleifson - a nice guy, great at face-offs, but watching Bobby’s success in Boston was painful. At least Walton came back a few years later but much past his prime and Schmautz returned for one last pretty decent season.

    Just traveled across the country via Air Canada.  Was it a smooth experience,  no - but we got our luggage so I'm thankful for that.

      Once rode a Greyhound from PG to Vancouver. Bus stops on the highway in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night.  I sleepily look out the window to see a woman walking off with my luggage. “I thought it was mine” she says but doesn’t return to the bus for “hers.”

       

      I fall back asleep watching the guy across from me carving his dentures with a hunting knife.

    Finally decided to quit smoking. Just finished my first 24 hour period in years without one. Wish me luck.

      I quit/started/quit a couple of times. The turning point for me came when I was having a terrible day at work. One of my contractors pulled out a cigarette, offered me one and I took it. Was about to light up when I thought “I deserve this. I have to have this. I need this.” Made me so mad that I had no control over myself that I tossed it and never smoked again. Who knows what your turning point is but in the end you’ll find it. Good luck!

    We live in a society where people cannot talk about politics or religion with the level of emotional intelligence these topics deserve and require. We have arrived at these dire straits I think in part because all our lives we've been told not to talk about politics or religion. And so we've never learned how to listen with empathy or discuss without shouting or judgement. And now CDC wants to ban discussions on religion and politics. Brilliant! This can't be a good thing imo.

      Growing up we were always encouraged to talk about these things around the dinner table. No topic was out of bounds but if you decided to troll my father and it didn’t make him laugh…you better be damn quick!

    Has anyone taken any day trips crossing the border since it re-opened last year?

      For a Canadian going across I didn’t have to show anything other than passport. Returning to Canada if you have filled out your ArriveCan online you also don’t have to show anything as it is already linked.

      We have taken several as my wife needs her Trader Joes. Went off flawlessly as long as you use your ArriveCan app. The only negative has been that since so many haven’t bothered to use it that crossing back into Canada has been unnecessarily slow.
