  1. I think he’ll be true to his word and sign here. I don’t know that Bukala has any inside info either but it was the first time I’ve heard someone other than @Alflives put it out there so I thought it only fair to point out. I guess we’ll know soon enough. If I remember correctly Allvin went down and had a meeting with him recently so I’m sure that AM being an honourable guy would have told him if his intentions have changed. If so he’s definitely sugar sweet…
  2. I am pretty firmly on the side that says he will sign in Vancouver but Jason Bukala, former director of amateur scouting for the Florida Panthers, was on the Drance and Dodd show on Thursday and said that he does not think McDonough will sign here. So you’re not all alone on your island Alf.
  3. Painful watching Bruce treated this way and seeing him struggling as he’s tries to answer questions. More than a little ironic that tonight the team celebrates Hockey Talks. Men’s mental health awareness is very important to the club but apparently Bruce’s…well, not so much.
  4. I was on a bit of a break and missed getting my list in, sorry to be so late. June Lockhart Jimmy Carter Henry Kissinger Norman Lear Doc Severinsen Bob Barker Eva Marie Saint Lee Grant Joyce Randolph Peter Marshall Gene Shalit David Attenborough Norman Jewison Tony Bennett Richard Simmons Bob Newhart Willie Nelson Marion Ross Tina Louise Dick Van Dyke
  5. Same conversation is happening on the Flyers boards, not unique to Canada.
  6. I had to think about this a bit before responding because I agree that I prefer people to be honest about their views. Knowing that you’ve been injured is a good reason but by itself it means nothing. By being open about it gives others a chance to discuss it so that perhaps the person interviewing you doesn’t throw the the next person’s resume into the shredder because of race, gender or sexuality. Like here in this thread. Maybe Provorov becomes enlightened, like Torts. Although I found his statement about “taking a moment before the anthem to reflect on racial injustice” kind of hilarious and self-serving.
  7. Hmmmm…. John Tortorella on not standing for the anthem - “If any of my players sit on the bench for the national anthem, they will sit there the rest of the game,” John Tortorella on Provorov - “was true to himself and to his religion.” “It’s one thing I respect about Provy, he’s always true to himself,” Tortorella said.
  8. …or there was this take from Avalanche Reddit. So different from CDC.
  9. Very wise Brilac! My father (who was not a great father) used to say “As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.” My wife was at a new job for only a couple of days when she came home and said how she had been treated with a lack of respect by a supervisor. I reminded her of this saying which basically means that if you allow someone to treat you with disrespect they will think that it is ok and continue to do it, getting worse over time. She went in the next morning and asked for a meeting with the supervisor where she explained how she expected to be treated. They had a meeting of minds and she wound up working there happily for 14 years. If you have earned respect ask for it once but demand it after that. From everyone, family, friends, partner, employer included. You treat people with respect and you deserve the same.
  10. Best known for Terminator and countless memes.
  11. Nowhere really to post this but this is one classy kid.
  12. Last year we drafted Ty Young and Koskenuvo the year before.
  13. That’s exactly what Clarke says - one goalie drafted at least every two years.
  14. If a player is not drafted by the age of 20 he becomes an unrestricted free agent. When Can a Team Sign an Undrafted Player? There is an easy answer to this question. According to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, or CBA, you can sign any player who has gone undrafted in as little as one NHL Entry Draft to an Entry-Level Contract, or ELC. For instance, following the 2016 NHL Draft, the Calgary Flames invited Rouyn-Noranda Huskies defenseman Philippe Myers to their development camp after going undrafted in his first year of draft eligibility. He was then invited by the Flyers to attend their NHL pre-season camp, and impressed them enough that they signed him to an ELC on September 21st, prior to the camp ending and before the next QMJHL season started. Some scouting people said if he had not signed that ELC with the Flyers, he may have been a potential first round pick in the next draft.
