[Report] Jim Benning to return for next season
4petesake replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
As much as I enjoy hating on Nurse I would love to see him in Canuck jersey. -
Why listen to CDC recommendations when you can google sh!t.

Lol, I’m not sure how much that sweetens the deal for Colorado but I give you full marks for taking one for the team. -

I don’t suspect they take him but what if Seattle manages to sign Ian Clark? Maybe with his relationship with Holtby he sees something and recommends him. As I only have one wish left after blowing my other two I’m not going to waste it on this but I can hope can’t I? -
I seem to recall one poster ripping JB for losing Toffoli who was acquired for the playoff push while simultaneously ripping him for not trading Tanev and Markstrom for assets during the same push. That would indeed be mismanagement- trading for Toff and getting rid of one of your top d and #1 goalie for the same playoffs. But hey, the Benning bros won’t be reasonable and always spin things to support their narrative.

That’s fine, I understand your point. Now if you go back you’ll see I never said otherwise and made NO comment on why he was gone. Never once did I offer an excuse or defence of it. The point is that once he was gone the world did not stop spinning. JB signed Hawryluk and Gaudette exactly one week after TT signed in Montreal, and JV three days later.

I said no such thing nor did I imply it. Toffoli was gone, blame whoever for that, I don’t care. The world didn’t stop after that and JB moved on to AG and Jake ( or who knows what else in between.)

[Rumour] Sam Reinhart open to a trade back to West Coast

Gotta agree with you there, but then again I don’t have a face that’s worth 3 mil to save. Now if I had been paid 33 million over 5 years for scoring a whopping total of 38 goals and 90 points, as well as only playing one game in a year that the team was woefully short of manpower. It should be painfully obvious to him that the team has no use for him. So with all that in mind and having some pride, yes I would leave 3 mil on the table and will retire. Will Loui? Doubtful. -
I just clearly said that the Toffoli thing was a different argument and made no attempt to defend it. I’ll leave that to others. I just said that not signing Toff was in no way related to signing Jake . Why is that hard to understand Chuck?

I’m staying out of the Toffoli debate but clearly once Toff was gone it became at least marginally more important to sign Jake. However that turned out to be a mistake that IMO JB more or less copped to when he said that there were a couple of guys that he expected to take the next step and didn’t, and that was on him. I’m not sure why people find it so important to tie the TT and JV together. If they want to argue they were both mistakes, fine go ahead, but to say that Toff was mishandled because Jim was busy trying to get Jake signed is just plain wrong.
