  1. That’s true and no one is suggesting he’d take it but you let him no what his options are and let him make his choice. Given this past year I think it’s highly unlikely he’d choose to retire but there are other players who have seen the writing on the wall and done so.
  2. I suspect QH may not sign until after Cale Makar is signed and will set the bar for guys like Hughes and Dahlin. If QH signs first it probably means either he is willing to take a little less or JB is willing to gamble on overpaying. Hughes has a little less leverage as he isn’t an RFA who can be offer-sheeted but as others have pointed out leverage means much less with your core that with other players.
  3. I never suggested he was The Hulk, just pointing out that 6’ and 205 lbs isn’t tiny. I’d like more size and grit on the team as well but I think Woo gives you at least some of that when and if he makes the team.
  4. Yes I realize that. I’m not suggesting LE be paid at his full hockey salary. Just gives him a way to save face.
  5. Elite Prospects has Woo as 6’ and 205 lbs.
  6. I’m looking forward to going to games in Abby. I don’t want to have to watch him play but dammit I’ll do if it keeps him away from the Canucks. Offer him the same retirement/job as Roberto got in Florida and name him a special advisor. Nothing says you have to take his advice.
  7. Pretty funny picture! This was retweeted by taj so that means You-know-who will post it here soon. Unless they are one and the same. Life’s little mysteries....
  8. Would be a great way to grow the sport but wouldn’t it further dilute the talent in the short term? Adding 8 more teams and encouraging the best Swedes, Finns, Russians, etc to stay and play in their home countries. Imagine not having Petey, Hoggy, Podz, Edler and others, replaced by the Chaputs and Veys. I think we’d be much less likely to draw big names from elsewhere if they can stay home and still play in the NHL. I know in the long run increasing interest around the world would bring more talent into the game but that could take a while and it could be ugly in the interim. Would be cool to see those cities in the league though.
  9. Having vaccine passports without the ability to be reasonably sure of their authenticity could cause more harm than good. Here’s someone selling fakes at their place of business, with the added twist of being stupid enough to post the picture, name tag included, to their social media account. I support verifiable vaccine passports in this case but I am in total agreement with you on the concern about function creep. It surprises me that more people aren’t at least willing to have the conversation.
  10. Somebody put this together on Canucks Reddit. I can’t confirm its accuracy but it should give you an idea.
  11. I had given them up for dead with a month left in the season. I’m surprised how well they’re playing as a unit.
  12. I have no problem with the number, never feel sorry for that bugger. What did Burke say playoff suspensions were equal to, 2 or 3 for 1? DOPS is all over the place.
  13. Wow, I hadn’t heard the news until now, Kadri suspended 8 games. Got admit I’m surprised.
  14. Have you seen this yet @Warhippy? Isn’t this the pos that was making threats to you? Looks like he can’t keep his mouth shut. Anti-mask protester Chris Sky arrested for allegedly making death threats, driving at a police officer A prominent figure in Canada's anti-mask and anti-lockdown movement has been arrested by Toronto police after allegedly threatening to shoot people during phone conversations and driving his car at police when officers tried to arrest him this week. Chris Saccoccia, better known as Chris Sky, turned himself in to police on Thursday, May 20, police said in a news release. He is facing three counts of uttering death threats, and one count each of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and dangerous operation of a vehicle. Saccoccia, 37, is alleged by police to have "threatened to shoot people several times over the phone" on Wednesday, May 12. Police later attempted to arrest Saccoccia on Wednesday afternoon at an unnamed location in York Region. Police say Saccoccia got in his vehicle to drive away when the officers found him. Police say they tried to block his vehicle, at which point he reversed and charged toward an officer, "causing him to jump out of the way to avoid being hit." Saccoccia sped away from the officers and turned himself in the next day, according to police. Saccoccia has organized demonstrations against COVID-19 public health orders across Canada. He was previously arrested by police in Thunder Bay, Ont., for organizing a gathering in that city.
  15. I thought I’d leave this here as a reminder that guys have lives away from hockey. Brock at home with his parents.
  16. Don’t confuse public speaking with intelligence. You’ll have to help me out with eruditation, I couldn’t find it in the dictionary.
  17. I agree, it was a poor choice of words. I really don’t think he meant to be dismissive though, rather just another example of his “eloquence.” I wish he could have been more tactful but that’s Jim.
  18. I was also pleased to hear that not only did the bottom 6 need to be improved but the top 6 had to be better as well. Accountability belongs to everybody. JB also owned his thinking that a couple of the young guys would take the next step and he was wrong. I assume he was referring to Gaudette and Jake.
  19. I wouldn’t be so sure about this C.J. Another early playoff exit or two and he may well be wanting out... Edmonton fans have been worried about this for a while now.
