  1. Sorry to jump in but... You are not seriously suggesting that the loss to the Rangers was on AV? The NHL gave the Rags extra unplanned off days because they were old. The Canucks could have won but I would suggest the only final they should have won was Boston. A better feat than predicting a coach who won’t win would be to tell us who will win each year. Your not exactly going out on a limb to say AV or TG will not.
  2. Yeah I’m not beating the drum to replace JB like others are but I certainly understand the sentiment.
  3. Remember how good that hit on McJesus in the young stars game was? Talk about bringing you out of your seat. Man I was excited about his future! I don’t care if hits like that took him out of position from time to time. Those hits had a massive effect in games both on the opposing team and on the crowds. That should have never been trained out of him.
  4. I think he has been decent as well. Whether Green was right or wrong Jake became his whipping boy which then passed on to fans. If Jake is traded I hope it’s not before he gets a chance to work with a new coach.
  5. Jake’s problem is that every time people watch him play they think of the player he should be. He came in oozing potential and whether it is our coaches and systems or a problem within him, it’s jarring. I think he is a decent player now but I don’t think he’ll ever reach his full potential here. Unfortunately he might need a new start for his own sake and that might turn out very badly for us.
  6. I’d be ok with giving Green more leash if he replaced his assistants. I don’t think he will though and that may be his undoing.
  7. True but the team was so good that it didn’t seem like an issue until it became so bad against Boston.
  8. You don’t have to handle Lucic. You need to punish their other top players. Lucic can go “handle” himself.
  9. We needed to replace Baumgartner last year and it’s only gotten worse this year. Newell Brown should be added to that list. I have been a backer of Green until now but if he can’t see that changes need to be made then he should go as well. This team has zero identity, no toughness, and doesn’t stand up for each other. Very few coaching staffs survive a stretch like this and it’s just about time for the panic button.
  10. If you are lucky enough to find something you love go for it with everything you have. If you never figure it out don’t stress about it. I don’t believe many of us have the good fortune to have a career that is totally fulfilling. I had a job that I liked (didn’t love) for forty years and was able to retire early two years ago. For those of you looking forward to retirement...it’s fantastic!
  11. Here we are in total agreement. Universities are supposed to champion intelligent debate, differences of opinion, and openness to new ideas. If these things are choked off here what hope is there to have civil discourse in elsewhere?
  12. YouTube demonetizing content has been a big problem well before the whole left vs right issue arose on their platform. Many creators have been complaining about arbitrary and unexplained demonetization for a long time already.
  13. Adults too. In addition to allowing for access to knowledge and information beyond comprehension it has given us anti-vaccers, anti-mask, Qanon, etc. The speed at which mis-information spreads is mind-numbing, literally...
  14. Even though I’d like to do away with it (other than special events) you do make a good point. Whether it’s athletes led by CK or Tommie Smith and John Carlos in the ‘68 Olympics the anthems do provide an outlet for social justice protest. With or without it you’ll never satisfy the “shut up and dribble” crowd.
  15. Well that didn’t last long... In the wake of the NBA's statement Wednesday reiterating its long-standing policy that "all teams will play the national anthem," Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said during an appearance on ESPN's The Jump that his organization has no problem playing the anthem "at all," and that the decision to not do so to this point in the season was the product of ongoing conversations with members of the community who felt the tradition "did not fully represent them."
  16. I never understood why it needed to be played/sung before every game. In the same way that it began to bother me that we had to honour the military all the time. On certain occasions fine, but definitely not for every event. It’s time to put this ceremony to bed.
  17. ...or his dad, “why you got Nick on you shoe? You name not Nick.”
  18. Another corporate middle finger to their workforce (you know, “the Bell family”), local media representation, and us little folks. I will miss hearing my friends arguing about sports, entertainment, and other nonsense. I will miss nodding in agreement and shouting at the radio, laughing at the opinion of someone’s drunken uncle. I didn’t love it all but my radio did have an off switch.
