  1. Hospitals are still coping but let’s not make stuff up. These numbers thanks to @-Vintage Canuck- Dec 29/21 192 in hospital 71 in intensive care Feb 8/22 987 in hospital 141 in intensive care
  2. Not like any further explanation is necessary but here is some anyway.
  3. I’ll provide the link but I’m not going to read it to him/her. https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/beijing-winter-olympics-2022-mask-wearing-canadians-crush-roc-in-game-delayed-by-controversy-075251555.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=ma
  4. This was very well done. Trigger warning: Moose ugly mug sighting right near the end. Turn on sound.
  5. If not for health care workers and those having surgeries cancelled I would totally agree. You can’t help someone who refuses to help him/herself.
  6. I wouldn’t call 54% “overwhelming” but I will concede that the sentiment for loosening restrictions is growing. Lots of people are done with Covid but the question to ask is Covid done with us? IMO when data shows that hospitals aren’t likely to be overwhelmed and can handle the cases of people with Covid without stopping access to surgeries for those in need then I agree it’s time. That is by far the most important metric. I also agree that not many really care about the small number of unvaccinated truckers. People who want the loosening of restrictions used their cause to show their frustration. Unfortunately most of those people have gone home and Ottawa is left with mostly misfits and worse that have a very different agenda. And I can tell you that the citizens of Ottawa who are impacted horribly care a great deal. Vaccinated truckers are doing just fine except for some non-Covid related issues.
  7. This video of a couple of anti-vaxxers heading into the rally in Vancouver and getting blocked by counter protesters is quite frankly hilarious. Seems like they think blocking a public road is against the law. The comments are the best, “get outa the way Hitler!” or “stop it, they’re f’ing recording…!” NSFW for language. IMG_7009.MOV
  8. This post from r/Ottawa kind of talks about this gullibility and says it very well.
  9. I just happened to be watching his apology video and then saw your post. FWIW , I found his explanation and apology credible and sincere. It was one of the rare celebrity responses that didn’t defend and apologize at the same time.
  10. Also in Ottawa, the arrival of the Native People’s Caravan in 1974. This excerpt is from an article by the author who tweeted the picture. “When we got to the Hill we saw soldiers with bayonet guns — some kind of honour guard — and RCMP lined up in ranks of tour in front of the Parliament Buildings. First Louis Cameron spoke presenting our demands and asking Trudeau or an Indian Affairs official to come and talk to us. They are elected to serve the heeds of Native people too — they should respond to what we have to say. We stood and waited for some government representatives to show up and talk to us. No one came. We said we would give them 25 minutes to send someone out. Two hours later we were still standing there waiting. We got there at 1:30 pm and at 4:00 we still stood waiting…” “We were unarmed men, women and children. And their riot squad came and started beating us. We fell down on our backs, our hands and knees and they kept on smashing at us with their sticks. Didn’t matter if we were retreating — they were trampling and smashing up…” “There were soldiers there, and tanks and bayonets to back up the police. There to protect Trudeau and his likes, I guess. And they obey even if people are unarmed. Then the riot squad came on over the loudspeakers and started telling us to move, and we were driven onto the street. Lots of people could hardly walk — their brothers and sisters walked beside them, holding them up. The drums were beating.” “Later that night back at the Embassy one young brother collapsed. He had been badly injured and had been coughing and spitting blood, but he didn’t tell anyone. He collapsed later that night. We took him to the hospital. I don’t know how many of our people went to hospital. They put in the paper a list of how many RCMP were injured, but not how many Indians.”
  11. Ottawa citizens are getting pushed to the brink and are rightfully p!ssed off with the police and the mayor. Always important to keep the supply lines open I guess. This kind of crap has to be infuriating.
  12. Joe Rogan had infectious disease epidemiology expert Michael Osterholm on his podcast on March 10, 2020 where they discussed COVID-19 and other efforts to fight infectious diseases around the world. Ironic to watch Osterholm and old Joe Rogan describe in detail ‘22 Joe Rogan.
  13. Draisaitl is like a squirrel - always after the nutz.
  14. Not at all. If you care to champion taxes on junk food have at’er. I suspect support for your idea will not come from the side you think it will.
  15. Can’t help but notice that’s an awful lot of flammable containers.
  16. Michelle Obama tried so blame the nutbars on the right. Fox News figures attack Michelle Obama's efforts to reduce childhood obesity Beck fearmongers that philosophy behind offering children healthy food choices will lead to riots, imprisonment, and global government. On the September 14 edition of his Fox News show, Glenn Beck suggested that Michelle Obama's initiative would lead to imprisonment for eating french fries:
  17. I think this fits the topic… We were in our rv at a very remote Provincial campground and it would not start - completely dead. Ironically it was booked in for service at a Ford dealership in Burnaby for that very day. I phoned to let them know we wouldn’t be able to make our appointment but they were closed for a Covid outbreak and there was only an emergency number. I called the number to ask if we could have it towed to their location for when they re-opened as we had nowhere else to take it to that day. The lady I talked to said “absolutely not and by the way we don’t service rvs.” I said that that was strange as we already had an appointment and had had it in there twice previously for service. I was told categorically that was untrue so I gave her the service technician’s name that we always dealt with. She told us that she wasn’t interested in having his name since she would know because she was the service manager. First and only time I’ve been told that I was lying about having an appointment booked and that they had never serviced the vehicle. I felt like slapping her upside the head with my past receipts! Found the dealership in Langley who went out of their way to get it in and when I went to pay (new battery and new starter) they told me that it was still covered under warranty so no charge. What a difference!
  18. Here’s two for you that couldn’t be more different. The first was one that started my love of psychedelic rock and the second…well that’s for my dad.
