If I respond to someone’s post I try to be respectful but man you make it difficult.

I agree with your take on early treatment but that’s still pretty murky with Omicron being dominant. Early data is showing that most monoclonal antibody treatments Ike Bamlanivimab and Regeneron are not effective against the Omicron variant. Sotrovimab is showing promise in lab trials. Bamlanivimab stopped being used in the US in the summer. Federal health officials plan to meet at the end of this week to discuss whether to pause shipments of the Eli Lilly and Regeneron monoclonal antibodies, based on how dominant Omicron becomes in certain areas, according to The New York Times, and some hospitals have already suspended their use. It wouldn’t be the first time this has happened: Government officials stopped the rollout of bamlanivimab plus etesevimab in the summer after it was found to be ineffective against the dominant COVID-19 variants circulating at the time. NIH’s findings in Dec/21 on Fluvoxamine were very mixed, and far too technical for me but it’s there on their website if you want to look at it. Recommendation There is insufficient evidence for the COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) to recommend either for or against the use of fluvoxamine for the treatment of COVID-19.

On that note: 11 LifeLabs locations temporarily closed in B.C. due to 'severe employee impacts' Health-care facilities across B.C. are being impacted by staffing shortages and the province's top doctor warned earlier this month that businesses should prepare to have one third of their employees calling in sick at a time. "We need to adapt businesses so we can operate at these reduced numbers," Dr. Bonnie Henry said in early January. The following LifeLabs locations are temporarily closed: 180 Keefer St., Vancouver 943 West Broadway, Vancouver 888 West 8th Ave., Vancouver 1200 Lynn Valley Rd., North Vancouver 4151 Hazelbridge Way, Richmond 6051 Gilbert Rd., Richmond 9639 137A St., Surrey 12195 Harris Rd., Pitt Meadows 321 Nicola St., Kamloops 650 Fort St., Victoria 1641 Hillside, Victoria These locations have adjusted their hours. Details on those changes can be found on the LifeLab's website. 2061 West 42nd Ave., Vancouver 1200 Burrard St., Vancouver 33498 Bevan Ave., Abbotsford 1590 Cedar Hill Cross Rd., Victoria 582 Goldstream, Victoria

Maybe read the story. 70% is the unvaccinated rate in the ICU of that hospital. Sorry, meant to quote you @Gatzkek

I’m fully vaccinated with the booster and I do this because I care as much about the health of people I come in contact with as I do do my own. I’m also vaxxed because I worry about the health care system and more importantly the people that man the front lines. I worry about people that have surgeries delayed and the health problems that come with those delays. I don’t find it unusual that I should prefer those I come in contact with to have at least a similar amount of care and compassion for others.

This is a current snapshot of an ICU in Toronto. - twice as many Covid patients in ICU as two weeks ago - 70% are unvaccinated - about two thirds are relatively young, unvaccinated and showing up with severe disease - hospitalizations are: 762 per million unvaccinated, 171 per million with at least two vaccinations

No debate at all for risk/reward according to the CDC, check out another of her tweets. A couple of things to keep in mind: - the study that you posted is for Kaiser Permanente of Southern California not all of the US. - the vaccination rate there is 84.13% first dose & 66.95 second dose, so pretty decent rates. All in all your study is a small sample size but nevertheless quite encouraging so thanks for posting it. But why cite a tweet from the Director of the CDC but then only believe half of the information? If you think the CDC is lying about the value of getting a booster then don’t bother with it so long as you’ve got your first two jabs.

I’ll leave this quote from the Dr you are citing here for you. Walensky advised vaccination and booster shots as the best prevention against death saying those who are boosted are “20 times less likely to die than our unvaccinated” population. On Monday, Moderna said its booster shot is effective against omicron, but it still plans to create a new variant-specific shot. Ahead of the holidays Walensky recommended for families that are gathering to get tested, “to make sure … that people are not gathering when they have a symptomatic infection.”

As someone pointed out a few pages back there are already taxes in place for the harm caused by alcohol, tobacco, sugary drinks etc. No reason that remaining unvaccinated during a pandemic shouldn’t be added to the list at the very least.

There is a funny/not funny gif on the Panthers Redditt that has their logo in place of Kodak Black and the twerker covered by the Canucks logo. Well played Panthersfan, well played. -
Another early study out of Oregon suggests that hemp prevents the virus from entering human cells. Don’t get excited yet though as it has only worked in vitro so far. Hmmm, could be good news for me since I’ve been eating hemp seeds for years. Very rarely get a cold and never the flu but I certainly never associated that with the hemp seeds.
