  1. Not from this week but this one makes me laugh.
  2. Another problem with it is that it needs to be started within the first 5 days of infection. Without enough rapid tests and the backlog of antigen tests taking up to 7 days to receive results makes this difficult. I can’t imagine an anti-vaxxer being willing to take it starting with Pfizer makes it so: -big pharma -don’t know what’s in it -government can’t tell me what to do -Nazis, commies, socialists…take your pick -fat people -Ivermectin is cheaper, urine is free…
  3. Estimated cost is $700 for a 5 day course of Paxlovid compared to $20 for the vaccine. Dr Tam says that Canada’s supply is only 30,000 right now with an order of 1M for the first year. Expectations are that orders are likely to be very hard to come by and thus Paxlovid is unlikely to play much of a role with Omicron.
  4. He makes it so easy to hate him that’s for sure. Helluva player though. Icckkk…
  5. Yes he was helped off the ice in the second period after a hit by He was set to return to skating with the team on Jan 3, not sure what happened after that.
  6. I’m guessing they don’t teach ratios in school anymore.
  7. I’m not sure when vaccinations were started for 5-11 year olds but 38.21% have their first dose already across Canada. 12-17 group is 82.59% fully vaccinated. edit: 12 year olds are still kids.
  8. More from the CDC Director you are citing.
  9. Surprisingly the Canucks are one of the few teams to hold him under a point per game, 9g + 8a in 20 games.
  10. If I respond to someone’s post I try to be respectful but man you make it difficult.
  11. I agree with your take on early treatment but that’s still pretty murky with Omicron being dominant. Early data is showing that most monoclonal antibody treatments Ike Bamlanivimab and Regeneron are not effective against the Omicron variant. Sotrovimab is showing promise in lab trials. Bamlanivimab stopped being used in the US in the summer. Federal health officials plan to meet at the end of this week to discuss whether to pause shipments of the Eli Lilly and Regeneron monoclonal antibodies, based on how dominant Omicron becomes in certain areas, according to The New York Times, and some hospitals have already suspended their use. It wouldn’t be the first time this has happened: Government officials stopped the rollout of bamlanivimab plus etesevimab in the summer after it was found to be ineffective against the dominant COVID-19 variants circulating at the time. NIH’s findings in Dec/21 on Fluvoxamine were very mixed, and far too technical for me but it’s there on their website if you want to look at it. Recommendation There is insufficient evidence for the COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) to recommend either for or against the use of fluvoxamine for the treatment of COVID-19.
  12. On that note: 11 LifeLabs locations temporarily closed in B.C. due to 'severe employee impacts' Health-care facilities across B.C. are being impacted by staffing shortages and the province's top doctor warned earlier this month that businesses should prepare to have one third of their employees calling in sick at a time. "We need to adapt businesses so we can operate at these reduced numbers," Dr. Bonnie Henry said in early January. The following LifeLabs locations are temporarily closed: 180 Keefer St., Vancouver 943 West Broadway, Vancouver 888 West 8th Ave., Vancouver 1200 Lynn Valley Rd., North Vancouver 4151 Hazelbridge Way, Richmond 6051 Gilbert Rd., Richmond 9639 137A St., Surrey 12195 Harris Rd., Pitt Meadows 321 Nicola St., Kamloops 650 Fort St., Victoria 1641 Hillside, Victoria These locations have adjusted their hours. Details on those changes can be found on the LifeLab's website. 2061 West 42nd Ave., Vancouver 1200 Burrard St., Vancouver 33498 Bevan Ave., Abbotsford 1590 Cedar Hill Cross Rd., Victoria 582 Goldstream, Victoria
  13. Maybe read the story. 70% is the unvaccinated rate in the ICU of that hospital. Sorry, meant to quote you @Gatzkek
