[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
4petesake replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I’m confused. -
Tony Romo trending everywhere.

Good old Steve wreaking havoc with every thought that belches from his brain and madly scribbles down. Let’s remember another of his classics. No one wants to say this because of the politically correct police and all, but those who coached Akim Aliu must cringe every time they see him in a news report or a commercial talking about what’s wrong with hockey. Like he would know. By my count, Aliu played for 23 teams in nine different leagues in 12 professional seasons and rarely finished any season with the same team he started with. If that was colour-related, how is it that Wayne Simmonds spent just about the same 12 seasons playing in the NHL?

Judgement Day/ Trade deadline Day [PROPOSAL]

I’d make each and every one of those trades which tells me you’re right, you’re going to get flamed. -
Actually congrats to you and a few others here for getting this back to a civil discussion. I don’t want to sound trite but we’re all better off when we are a little more open-minded. As a bonus we stand a better chance of not getting the thread locked! FWIW @GhostsOf1994 has some legitimate points for discussing how we should look at including transgender athletes in sports. There are no easy answers right now but I didn’t want to get away from the main issue of this thread.

First off - it’s a law which is what you asked for. Secondly it discriminates against transgender people. Suppose you were born a biological female and transitioned and you want to play a sport in a place that only has a boys league. By law you are not welcome to play. That’s not inclusive. Thirdly you are now debating the merits of the law and that’s a different issue. We could find some things we could agree on and some we wouldn’t. You implied that such laws didn’t exist and challenged anyone to show you that they did. They do. Outside of sports there are plenty of laws in places like Florida that prevent any books that have any mention of gay or transgender people or references of inclusivity in them from being in schools. New laws are extending that to public libraries. If you are an lgbtq youth it’s getting harder and harder to find characters like yourself that you can relate to. Harder to feel safe enough that you don’t have to hide who you are. Wearing the jersey on hockey is for everyone night doesn’t mean you support a lifestyle; it simply means that you support their right to exist, their right to be involved in the hockey community and to be safe in that community. When people are really safe we won’t need a special night at all.

Tanti is actually one of the better comparables, his numbers are a little better than Bo’s and he played almost double the playoff games. Other than the bubble year the fact that Bo’s team haven’t been in the playoffs at all really hurts his chances. I love Bo but I don’t think he makes it.

However, depending on the amount of stability that the athlete has after the ACL tear, some hockey players with minimal instability can compensate for a torn ACL and skate effectively in a brace for a season. These players should have reconstruction surgery at the end of the season to return full stability to the knee. For those skaters who have significant instability on their exam or for goalies, it is probably best to look at having the ACL reconstruction done right away to protect one’s knee from further damage.

It’s not a bad look to you or me but I don’t think any UFA is going to think “I hope the team I just signed with maximizes my value by trading me to a team that I already chose not to sign with.” That was said by Jason Bukala (former Head of Scouting for Florida Panthers) on 650 a couple weeks ago. In any case I’m not saying it can’t be done, just that it should be part of the decision.
