[Signing] Stars re-sign Joe Pavelski
Mustard Tiger replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Dallas is weird, half the roster is early 20's, The other half is mid 30's. Always seem to be a quality team though. Even though they waste 20m on seguin and benn -
[Signing] Flyers re-sign Rasmus Ristolainen
Mustard Tiger replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Lots of people never seen him play and just look at size + RHD + 40ish points. He's terrible at his job, Being a dman requires some defense. Enjoy staying in your chit cycle flyers lmao -

I made the mistake of looking at thescores hockey news, Whoever the leaf homers who work for that company are made me laugh. They think they can get : Chychrun + Kessel 50% retained for 1st + robertson + kerfoot + holl This is worse then the raymond ballard and a 3rd! -
The Elite Defencemen of this Generation Thread
Mustard Tiger replied to HKSR's topic in General Hockey Discussion
I'm sorry you feel that way, If you watch avs games you can see why they are soo offensively powerful. Makar is on the top of the mountain while the rest of these young amazing D are still trying to find the mountain. He's becoming mcdavid on D, Expect is very very good on the defensive side. I wouldn't even trade him for mcdavid straight up. With that said we are sooooo lucky to have 1 of these about 8 insane young dmen in the league right now, Cale is the cream of the crop as of right now however -
This is a friendly reminder to those fans who think only the canucks wiff on high picks... We are 1 of 30 teams who have done so ( can't count vegas and seattle yet )

First 21 games were a total fluke. We all should know by now the coil purposely dress full nhl rosters during pre season and go undefeated to get the hype train going... Keep that momentum for a bit, Than show the true team they are once everyone else catches up to speed by novemeber/december. Trading Mcdiver is the only answer. He WILL walk if they keep him till the end of the deal. They have already screwed themselves with all these long term signing for when him and dri are free agents anyways. Can't afford to give them 15/16m each lol -
[Signing] Kraken re-sign Jared McCann
Mustard Tiger replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I'd much rather trade boeser than give him a penny more than this. He is such a 1 way player who can't drive even 10 seconds of play. Floats till the puck is on his stick. Love the kid though, Seems like a great teammate. He probably is the type though who showcased what he could be in the league in his first year.. But will never hit that again till his prime. And probably only last 2/3 year of that play ( assuming we are a good team at that point ) I'm pretty confident this new management team, Who all know what it takes to win, Will realize having a whole bunch of 1 way players wont help win a cup. Overpaying bigtime for them reaaaally wont help any future contracts we sign either. -

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Mustard Tiger replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The canucks are a team who : -Has zero superstars ( potential for 3 ) -Has an bare bones pipeline in terms of higher end talent -Has no stockpile of picks to help that pipeline -Has a young core of guys who are 20-25 but don't complement eachother very well -Has major holes in the entire roster when you match it up against the true contenders -Has a pretty bad special teams -Has a couple expensive 30+ guys on term -Has 10+m in dead cap ( maybe 17+ if you include dicky, Poolman and halak ) This list goes on and on, And its not a recipe for a cup. Look at your competition. Some have literally zero holes PLUS crazy good prospects on the way. Lucky for us we got a brand new front office and bench, Both of which have highly respected hockey people. Those people have expressed how they want to make the team younger and faster, Building up the fleet for when we are ready to go rounds for multiple years and eventually win atleast 1 cup... Let's not forget we have jimmy rutherford at the helm, The last thing we are going to keep doing is being that team who always stay pat and content with what we have and what we are... A fringe playoff team at best. We need the high end depth to be a quality playoff team for the next decade, Half those years we need to be a top team. We don't get there signing one way players like boes to a hugh deal with term, Allocation 8+x8 on a 29 year old when we already have wayy to much allocated to older guys that won't help our overall goal. Short term pain for long term gain. We need to pull a rangers. Realizing what we are and doing a retool for 2 years. Bring in younger guys ready to play now instead of just picks and we can remain somewhat competitive till they all mature and hit their primes. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Mustard Tiger replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Canucks fans : We can't keep letting guys who are about to hit UFA go for free! Also Canucks fans : We can't keep signing anyone older than 28 because that's too old! Also also Canucks fans : We need to hang onto our guys who are about to hit UFA because they are the team! It's good to be emotionally invested into your team, But man oh man our fanbase gets waaaaaay to attached to some guys lol -

Miller's next contract (Discussion)
Mustard Tiger replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Miller is awesome offensively, But i take that kings ransom deal. Unless we find a way for boston to take OEL off our hands, We can't have multiple 30+ year olds on huge dollar and term deals when we are a fringe playoff team at best right now. I would trade boeser also, Hes a slower one way player. Not to mention i really don't trust his shoulders lasting long. He is always shrugging his right shoulder like he's in pain or something. If his only talent is scoring, We should get as much value of out him while we still can. -
[Discussion] Examining how good this team actually is
Mustard Tiger replied to VegasCanuck's topic in Canucks Talk
We are the best worst team in the league. Team is filled with flaws top to bottom, Horribly inconsistent play on a period to period basis. Either the players move and the puck doesn't or the puck moves and the players don't on the PP. We had one of the worst coaching staffs of all time, Probably one of the lowest payrolls not including players. We were one of the worst teams with the worst record for 2 months. Historically near the worst PK of all time.... Yet here we are, All the flaws and many many more... but right in the thick of things in a very competitive west this year. It's actually kind of crazy. Now we have one of the best coaches, Hall of fame president, LOADED front office. If we want to be serious about competing for cup in a few years, We need to be sellers at the TDL. If we can add a quality young guy to replace said players along with picks, I think we can gain assets, Get younger and faster AND remain on this level of play. It's a shame hes already 29 with a massive deal, Because i'd be looking at something like horvat for sean couturier. High end offensive with some really solid D in EP, Followed by High end defense with some really solid offense. A selke caliber top 2 center is one thing we will need for cup runs. ( Unlike most this fanbase, I understand you need to give up value to get value, Poolman / Pears / Dicky and a 3rd isn't going to get you anything of value lol ) Will be an exciting end to the year non the less! -
