Team Canada unveils 2022 Olympic jerseys
Mustard Tiger replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
White one is nice, Others look like cfl practice jerseys -
I swear, If this team makes any trades before a coaching change... lol We are still the same old canucks, But with muchhhhh better 5v5 play. Which means a proven vet coach like shaw can help improve a team ( look at his history, Proven fact so don't try and argue ). Another prime example would be Clark and what he does for goalies. I really don't get how we are the only team in the world to not realize this and the positive impact it would have on our team.... Now if we could just pay the big money for the same vet experience in place of these 3 AHL amigos. There is a reason why coaches get 5+m a year, Also a reason why all the playoff teams have these guys Please franco, Smarten up already
-
The problem i see is our fanbase expects our young drafted core to have no progression, Bottom of the league to cup contender in 1-3 years. Everyones a star, Doesn't matter if you're paid 700k or 8m, You need 20+ goals and 50+ points or scapegoat status. Also pretend like the other 31 teams progress also doesn't exist. NHL is full of crazy good talent these days, Not many bad teams, Just alot of real good teams Aqua's patience worries me he's trying to delay because he wants to push hank and dank to GM an Ast GM asap. Which is probably not a good idea at this time I just don't understand why they are still clinging to this AHL coaching staff though. Our 5v5 this year vs last year tells me Shaw is solid. Now add 3 more of those real coaching vets to the bench

I hope JB sticks around for a loooooonnng time. I get more enjoyment seeing all these entitled fans thinking they know all the in's and out's of the franchise because they watch a 2hr game and read some drance tweets

Francesco Aquilini To meet with Jim Benning today
Mustard Tiger replied to cuporbust's topic in Canucks Talk
Francesco is the one guy who cuts guys off in meetings to say " So how is this going to make me money? Or " Hi, I'm francesco the vancouver canucks owner " Literally every time. Spends to the cap regardless how good we are because he wants to look good money wise. Not the brightest apple in that family tree apparently Take it for what its worth but these are facts lol Probably explains why our management team is never a bright spot, No smart guy seems to want to work for us as history shows since francesco took over -
For those who say it's been 8 years of Benning...

Almost every other franchise out there ships out good players for good value prior to them walking in FA or if they need to accelerate the rebuild. We are the only team it seems who hang onto every good player till they are no longer good, And have negative value. This is because of aqua's clear agenda to the " Once a canuck, Always a canuck " , " Character guys " , " Great in the community " being prioritized over winning. They don't even want guys hitting or fighting apparently, Off to the waiver wire you go! Everybody knows what a stale voice vs a new voice can do to a locker room. As for JB.. I like the trade value he has brought to our roster via drafting, I'd actually keep him as president, Get a new GM and coaching staff. I guess i'm just not super keen like most to let a new gm have free rein on the roster. We have alot of young valuable pieces. Prime candidate for a re-tool. You know he will be looking to make his stamp on the team, After all years of disappointment. Although we need change, I'm not looking to flip early 20 year olds for late 20's because they are in there prime. That how we narrow any window, End up with big dollar deals on guys over 30, And have no good young talent in the system as we would probably become buyers at the deadlines, Spending 1st & 2nds on pearson level guys for a " run ". It's been a long time, It sucks. But all our best players not named miller / OEL are not even in their prime years.. I don't know, I guess i just have all the time in the world, Not a big deal if we win or suck as i'm going to watch regardless lol Just remember it's only an entertainment sport, Is it worth getting worked up over something you have no control over? For me, Nahh -
[GDT] Vancouver Canucks @ Anaheim Ducks | Nov 14 | 5 PM PT
Mustard Tiger replied to -SN-'s topic in Canucks Talk
If we are going to give up a goal nearly 50% of the time on the PK, We might as well just try to also score. Diamond setup, The one fwd pretty much sits at the blue line ready to cherry pick ( hogs or garland for the speed and skill ) Depending on the situation you either go for the hail mary breakaway pass or just hammer it into their zone, Top fwd fishes the puck, Next fwd crashes the net stick on the ice. Yeah we will give up alot of prime shots, But if its a freaking 50% chance they are going to score.. We might as well try to do the same to keep it even lol. -

I just laugh as honestly i don't really expect much else from us considering our 50+ year history as one of the worst sports franchises in the world results wise lol. Really don't see a light at the end of the tunnel as long as we focus being a "Good in the community" team over a winning team. The once a canuck, Always a canucks chaps my ass as it only results in hanging onto players till they no longer have value. That vision starts at the top. Still find it hard to imagine aqua is shelling out 100+ million to watch what we are all seeing, And being totally OK with it? Vegas was .500 early into the season the other year and changed coaches. For me, I would "promote" JB to president only. After all these years we have never drafted soo many gems. Granted they all don't seem to have alot of chemistry together... But still players with lots of trade value found in the draft so thats a win on its own. Find a new GM and coaches. I'm a little concerned a new GM would come in, And want to make big splash right away. Would You guys be OK with an aggressive guy with rutherford for example coming in here and making those deals we all puke at such as a 23 yo bb6 for a 28+ yo dman like dumba. OR flipping a young piece like hogs for a more " proven " talent? Throwing 1st's around at trade deadlines for a pearson type player? That's the problem with a new guy coming in who has zero connection to any of our young core. With that being said, I would strongly consider doing an extreme re-tool if this season becomes a total wash. We have the type of value on the roster the rangers had when they decided to do a quick rebuild. It will never happen, But for fun i would attempt things such as : EP for Barzal BB6 + boner ++ for ekblad. Even just flipping bb6 for picks and prospects, Then using those assets for a couple high end bottom 6 guys. Hogs and podz need to keep improving in order to make brock expandable though. Before all the people who are emotionally attached to these guys come looking for my head on a stake, You need to trade value to get value. And i'm OK with that. Sooner or later we need to decide who really is the core group. Can't keep every young guy. So far i'd say Huggy, Hogs and probably podz untouchable. EP must have no intention hitting the gym and not looking like a baby horse on skates with zero improvement after 3 years. As much skill as that kid has shown, If you can get a same age center that plays more like miller.. i would really look at it. Hopefully people don't let this team effect them too much, It's not worth the mental stress. Happy sunday everyone -
I've been on the hurricanes bandwagon for years now, Maybe that's why i don't care too much about the way our team is playing to start the year. I'd suggest you all pick an eastern team to cheer for as well. It lessens the blow to your home team. It's only fair as historically not really any other sports franchise in the world has been has poor as the canucks in its entire existence. It's almost unfair to the team to expect anything other than a poor to mediocre season tbh. Oh well life goes on. Go Canucks and Canes!!!

Honestly if we can go on a little run here and build some confidence in the special teams, We could become a pretty good team by Christmas. I see alot of pitchforks chasing dickinson. At the very least let the guy get accustomed to life here. Coming from gun on the hip texas to avocado toast & complaining Vancouver would be a big change on its own. Couple interesting stats are the shots for and against. 20/21- 20th shots per / 29th shots against 21/22- 13th shots per / 12th shots against On that note goalies are insane this year. For how godly demko is, He's 15th in sv an 28th in gaa lol. Maybe dickinson isn't the scapegoat we are searching for, Once we can learn to play as a 5 man unit the entire game, Everyone will elevate their play WIN these divisional games!! Go canucks

If we want a 100 point season ( give or take a few points ) We can afford 32 regulation loses. Remaining 50 games need to be mostly wins but even something like 45-32-5 for 95 points should do. Problem is this poor leave your man out to dry style we play currently doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence at this very point we will achieve that. Possible if everybody gets going. Not just 1 or 2 guys a night. Lucky it's been 8 games not 38, Lots of time to improve

[Signing] Rangers re-sign Adam Fox
Mustard Tiger replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I'd argue better tbh. Norris winner. At this point id say the Makar / Fox deals are spot on. Huggy is cheap but people will always revert back to whining over 1 less year. Heiskanen seems like a bit of a deal as well. Olympics will be interesting, Guys like Fox / Huggy / McAvoy / Slavin... With goalies like Demko / Gibson / Hellebuyck. Mcgod better take over lol -

Looking at the schedule, It's very possible both chicago and arizona go winless until they play november 12th lol. Wouldn't that be something -

Meh, Its a long season. For me we have enough talent on the roster to where this is probably our bottom line. Mediocre .500ish play. Injuries could change that though. More than enough potential to be better/consistent team if every line is playing well at once. Still think the next step for this group is moving on from this AHL promotion coaching staff. I like everything i hear when shaw talks hockey. He stays Knowing how hockey works, We hopefully will light up the flyers. Back half of a back to back, And we should be pissed about last game. Good combo right? Well, Just as good of a chance we shoot 40+ at the logo, Getting vezina'd again lol Go canucks -
Man watching the interview, That was hard on it's own. Couldn't imagine the pain he has to live with. Now it's time all these rat bastards pay the piper. All management involved, Canned. Current players to at a minimum face the cameras every single day and get grilled till they can come to terms with the truth and stop wanting to save their own ass. Scratch JT from team canada asap ( not that he was a lock or anything imo ) Maybe we can get lucky and this will help expose the obvious bias and corruption bettman and co have caused. If the minimal happens i hope to gawd the mob goes after bettman

Flames off to a decent start, And let me tell ya... IF they keep it up, They are screwed bigtime this offseason. Mangiapane as 7 goals already. 25 yo RFA. Hopefully will command and get 8 year 8+m lol. Little johnny, UFA. Again sign to a 8x8+ , Or walk for nothing. Rathuck, RFA. 8x10 or hold out / trade. He's a bigger greaseball than pops. You know this will be his approach. Regardless they will either overpay for talent that will not even be worth half the contracts, Or lose said talent
