This is going to piss some people off but the only player I’m convinced is “elite” is Thatcher Demko. We still need more time at the bottom with great draft picks while clearing out garbage contracts. Once all the turds are flushed down the toilet, we will have elite ELC talent ready to be infused with a veteran Horvat, EP, Hughes and demko. Making a run now is going to set us back another decade. a lot of people here are excited to make the playoffs in a weak Pacific but I’m not really interested in that. I have the patience to wait for a dynasty.

Ok, what mountain do we have in this organization that can be used to backfill the holes? To be substantially better we need: A 3rd line centre A top pairing RHD At least 1 top 6 forward Is Hammer and Edler coming back? What do we have to replace them? What space to we have to retain them? He is going to do whatever it takes to make the team better, tell me how he is going to do that without surrendering his 1st? Podz? Seriously, the other team wants to win the trade too, how is any of this possible? I’ll tell you how it’s possible, major, permanent damage to our team 5 years from now, that’s how.

What harm does it do though? These guys literally sit around and make stuff up. I travel around a lot for work. I’ve been in hotel lounges with scouts and media and they literally all pull up to the bar, get drunk and talk Schmidt about other players and teams. I remember sitting in Seattle with a Florida scout talking about how weird David booth was and like a year later we acquired him. Lol. It’s a social group that probably collectively holds some truth due to sheer volume, but way spew way more static and noise. I actually remember being drunk and posting stuff on CDC while I was talking to that scout. my point is, it’s harmless, if you don’t want to be in the public eye than don’t play in Vancouver. Horvat: 0.6 ppg EP: 0.9 ppg MT: 0.8 ppg MT is like Burrows with size, skill and hands. Imagine him on a good team, with a great coach and years of maturity. PF’s always talk longer to reach their full potential. MT has huge upside. I’ll give the edge to EP cause he is a centre but MT is no joke. In a 7 game series with The Avs or Knights, MT would probably have a bigger impact than EP.

He is better than every player we have on our team. Don’t mix your personal Opinion with this kids talent remember, he is only 23 years old.

This is basically Jim Benning in a nutshell. Jim Benning making trades and signing FA’s to build a team is comparable to Michael Jordan playing baseball. Stick to basketball Jim, and that basketball is drafting. Please don’t play baseball anymore.

Don’t overthink stuff. Schmidt wasn’t the same player because he wasn’t surrounded by the warm womb of Vegas and Washington.
