[GDT/PGT] Vancouver Canucks vs Toronto Maple Leaves | April 18 | SNP
Convincing John replied to -SN-'s topic in Canucks Talk
The point I’m trying to make here is that we shouldn’t be in this position. Everyone in Canada always has that “we got free healthcare” swagger around Americans, but we are a global joke right now. The Canucks getting wiped out by the virus doesn’t make us look too good. Like I said before, if we weren’t too cool to travel to our normal pacific division teams, the entire team could’ve walked into a vaccination hub and got vaccinated in minutes. This Canadian division hilariously backfired in our faces. -

Let’s say +/-100 people per team would need to be vaccinated. That’s not even 1000 shots guys. They are at higher risk due to their proximity to each other. Fallout? Like I said before, I waltzed into the civic centre in the most remote county in Texas and got vaccinated within 10 mins. You don’t even need to be a citizen down here. The only fallout should be towards our failed government. They are vaccinating like 3,000,000 people a day in the US and we are sitting here making a big political song and dance o out 1000 shots to protect all the teams in the Canadian division. It’s not like we are putting black jack dealers ahead of nurses. Attention: I was extremely intoxicated when I posted this. Please don’t quote me on this cause I don’t want to discuss it at all. -

And another thing, these guys should be considered essential workers. Cant go to the ski hill, can’t go to the gym, can’t go out to eat, can’t have a funeral, cant have friends over. Can’t go to a movie, cant travel, can’t blow money at the casino. One of the few things we can do is stay home and watch hockey. They are doing a service to all of us. Vaccinate them god dammit. -

He looks like dog crap. My heart breaks for these guys. Who knows how this virus will manifest down the road. I think the most revealing part of the interview was his snide comment towards the speed of the vaccination roll out in Canada. It’s funny how we had to put this Canadian division into place to protect us from the wildly rampant COVID spread in the US. Good job Canada, way to save the day. Ironically. If we were making normal trips to the US in the pacific division they’d be vaccinated. I am working in west Texas right now. On Wednesday I walked into the Reeves county civic centre which is in the middle of absolutely nowhere and got a Moderna Vaccine without any citizenship or anything. I’m down here on a work visa. I was in and out within 20 mins. We have quite a few American players on our team and they must absolutely livid over this crap. Canada, BC, NHLPA, and the NHL should all be ashamed of themselves. -
It’s not a bad contract if you have your core locked up and lots of flexibility. We don’t have any of that.

What worries me is that Jim isn’t changing the behaviour that caused these cap issues. We will be in a cap crunch as long as he is in charge. If he could just stop with the 3-4 year support player contracts for even a calendar year we would be so much better off.

J.T. Miller unsure if safety is priority amid Canucks comeback
Convincing John replied to nux4lyfe's topic in Canucks Talk
Unpopular opinion: Miller is the leader of the team, not Bo Horvat. -
I got vaccinated in a gymnasium lol. That’s why I wasn’t even going to attempt to get vaccinated in Canada. I work all over the world and a lot of contracts are pending on proof of vaccination. I literally took this job in Texas so I could get vaccinated and go to Columbia.

A lot of people in Texas and in the southern USA are conspiracy theorists. Me getting a vaccination wasn’t received with much enthusiasm here at work.

I’m working in Texas right now. As Canadian citizen who is down here on a work visa, with no US residency, I got vaccinated today by waltzing into the local civic centre in a remote town in west Texas. They took my name, shot me in the arm, and I was in and out within 10 mins. It was surprising organized and efficient. There is no restrictions here and nobody wearing masks in any public place. There is no reason a tiny corner of west Texas can kick it this well while Canada struggles mightily.

He almost has that power forward development syndrome. Relying on size and a physical advantage in Jr. Turning pro removes that advantage and it’s really hard to adjust to defending forwards as big and faster than you are. He isn’t even close to a write off and I’m quite pleased with this trade. We need this dimension in our Dcore.

If we are building a culture, there needs to be a standard players meet in order to wear the Canuck sweater. If trading a player that doesn’t meet that standard is what needs to be done then getter done. However. Don’t force it if you’re not getting the return. It’s very fair to say he is worth roughly half of Sam Bennett. That’s a 2nd round pick. Would any team give up a 2nd round pick for Highmore? Absolutely not. I doubt anyone would give up anything for Highmore. We lost this trade regardless of the outcome. This is pure speculation but it almost seems like Benning isn’t articulate enough to finesse rival GM’s. He isn’t a salesman and that effects his performance on many different levels. Whether that involves pitching ideas to ownership or selling/ acquiring assets. He is too honest, he lacks creativity. I think a good GM needs to be likeable but also a snake. Ironically he is too good of a guy. That is why people are also empathetic towards him. He has a humbling persona and I think people take advantage of that.

I don’t like a lot of what JB does but there are a lot of things I do like. I’m one of the few on the JB hate train that doesn’t actually mind trading picks for other teams disappointments. Especially defensemen. I mean, if we drafted a player of Bowey’s caliber in the 4th/5th round we would be over the moon. I watched a lot of Rockets Games live and saw a lot of Bowey. He is physical, he shoots right, and he shoots hard. he moves like a potato but that can be improved on in the proper environment. I imagine he is extremely excited about getting a chance here in van. I can’t see Seattle selecting him. Who knows? D men are tricky, maybe things just suddenly click for him. The chances of that happening are far greater than selecting a NHL player in round 4.
