  1. Colorado is skipped. Via list Winnipeg selects Teddy Blueger.
  2. Lol just because you couldn't stop comparing Kemell and Lekkerimaki doesn't mean anyone else was. But you were obsessed. Every conversation about Lekkerimaki you had to make about Kemell. It was boring by the time of the draft, it's insufferable by now. Kulich, Snuggerud, Ohgren, Yurov, all great prospects. I don't know why you insist on forcing everyone to talk about the prospect you want to talk about, especially when it was over more than a year ago. Don't try to make it sound like I'm some Kemell-hater either. He's a fine prospect. But you should take it to the Joakim Kemell thread, maybe on a Nashville Predator forum.
  3. I guess I just don't see why Kemell needs to be constantly brought up in a Jonathan Lekkerimaki thread on a Vancouver Canucks forum. We've been through it over and over.
  4. The Ottawa Senators are pleased to select Jaxson Stauber.
  5. Looks good to me. Really solid pick here too.
  6. He reminds me a lot of Rodion Amirov, and interestingly enough (to me, if nobody else), I ranked Amirov 8th in 2020 and Lekkerimaki 7th in 2022, and both ended up going 15th overall. I don't remember doing a lot of comparison around the 2022 draft, but the player I compared Amirov to most in his draft year was Justin Williams, and I see a lot of similarities between the three. Lekkerimaki is probably never going to be as gritty as Williams, but as lighter framed guys hopefully that means he won't be injured as often as Williams was. Williams did get wiser about picking his spots over the years and managed to stay a lot healthier in his later years. Lekkerimaki is an excellent playmaker but not in a way that's likely to rack up huge assist totals in the regular season. He's not really the guy threading needles east-west, but like players like Amirov or Williams, he's elite at making the small area plays in tight space out of the corners, working give-and-goes. Almost excessively close puck support and tracking is one of the trademarks of his game. Another thing that made Williams so effective in big-game playoff hockey was his ability to create offense with limited risk. This is also a trademark of Lekkerimaki's game, always looking for the simple possession play first but has that knack to find just the right opportunity to attempt a play into the high-danger scoring areas. Yet another similarity to Williams is how quick and shifty they both are in those tight spaces, but Lekkerimaki uses a more modern skating style; he loves to use that 10-2 to dart around through traffic, especially off the puck. He's also more of a pure goal-scorer than Williams was, so for those reasons probably the best current NHL comparison I can think of is Jeff Skinner. Pardon me for patting myself on the back a bit, but this is just all of the same things I've been saying about Lekkerimaki since his draft year, so after his regular season struggles last season, I was almost certainly the least surprised person here when he lit up the playoffs like he did. But that regular season brings me to the biggest concern - also very much like Justin Williams and Jeff Skinner, as slighter framed guys who are at their best working in tight spaces down low, the injury risk is always going to be a very real worry with Lekkerimaki.
  7. The Ottawa Senators are anxiously excited to select another Russian (and yet another Minnesota Wild affiliate), Vladislav Firstov.
  8. Via Discord NYR selects Cam Atkinson.
  9. @Nail Donskoi retiring. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/kraken-forward-joonas-donskoi-retires-following-issues-with-concussions/
  10. The Ottawa Senators select Nico Sturm.
  11. Sens could take a big step back if they lose Batherson to suspension. And who do you see coming out to make room? Any of Boston, Tampa, Toronto, Florida, New York Rangers, Carolina or New Jersey missing would be a surprise. And the Isles improved last year with Horvat and Engvall additions. They're aging for sure but they're stacked on D with a stalwart in net. I do think Buffalo and Pittsburgh should be in this year, just hard to know who they're knocking out.
  12. Well I guess according to WarHippy's projection, an increase of 20-25 points would still put them at just 84 points and well out of a playoff spot. I think he might be under-selling them a little though. On top of the new additions, Werenski missed most of last season and should be back to full health.
  13. Lol he was right near the top of both my and SeanBean's lists too.
  14. Via list Minnesota selects Nick Bjugstad.
  15. Via list Minnesota selects Helge Grans. @NMHockey
  16. Sens recall Isaak Phillips. @Gator
  17. K I am here. Is SeanBean up soon?
  18. September 14 Orebro plays Leksand.
