  1. The Ottawa Senators are pleased to select our new 4.725 million dollar 4th line winger, Kevin LaBanc.
  2. And there's another powerplay assist for Demidov. What the f**k am I witnessing?
  3. And he was directly involved in another powerplay goal. Not gonna get an assist for it but if there was such a thing as a 3rd assist that would have been it. He's playing big minutes in offensive situations, can tell they're taking a serious look at keeping him.
  4. Just tuned in to the SKA St. Petersburg pre-season game. With all the NHL-drafted talent on that team and not only is Demidov getting a look on the powerplay, he just sniped. Have to think he's got a pretty good chance at making the big club - he's clearly already way too good for the MHL, and a lot more physically mature than Michkov was last year.
  5. Via list Winnipeg selects Ben Meyers.
  6. Absolutely. Just want to warn everyone again not to put too much stock in his offensive production in the SHL this year. Obviously some production would be nice, but anything over about a half point per game would be gravy. I'd only start to be concerned if he ends up around a third a p/g or less, or if he's having serious injury concerns again. Even when he's at his very best against his own age group it's always 95% possession plays and quietly, safely advancing the puck into offensive positions, and then just a couple times a game he'll do something where you're like "holy shit, so that's why this guy had one of the best U18 tournaments ever." But yeah, that Swedish team should be a powerhouse this year, that Djurgardens line plus Leo Carlsson (big question mark if he's there) and Filip Bystedt up front all gonna be 19, and then the D looks absolutely ridiculous with 19 year-olds Havelid, Engstrom, Odellius, Pettersson and then the three 18 year old phenoms Willander, ASP and Lindstein. That's where I don't mind a little it of expectations on Lekkerimaki to produce, and I could realistically see him putting up 12-15 points.
  7. Nice to see my Foudy pick got cheers from a couple smart GMs in the draft thread, because it's the first pick I'm actually kind of regretting. Just hated not having any Avalanche players yet and read a couple articles that the organization is high on him. But honestly I scouted him a decent amount his draft year and wasn't really a fan. I thought he skated around with the puck on the perimeter too much and not enough pushing play towards the net. But at 21 he's already got 100+ AHL games under his belt so it's about time he sinks or swims in the NHL, and his speed and skill seems to be a good fit for the way he Avs play.
  8. The Senators select Jean-Luc Foudy.
  9. Won't last long. Draisaitl is up for extension the following year.
  10. Just the fact that you had the pick ready to make when you got the chance is awesome. Mad props. And congrats.
  11. The Ottawa Senators are shocked and overjoyed to select Theo Lindstein. @BBKELLY99
  12. And Orebro lost in overtime before Lekkerimaki ever got on the ice.
  13. And suddenly we're all tied up.
  14. I caught most of the game today. Excited to say he's starting to look more like the Lekkerimaki I knew and loved from his draft year. Even his hot stretch through the Allsvenskan playoffs last year he really wasn't looking like himself offensively, but that's exactly why I was so high on him in his draft year - the maturity and translatability of his possession game. I like to go back to a quote I heard somewhere about the Michael Jordan flu game. a lot of athletes can get too caught up in the ebbs and flows of confidence and momentum and "feel". It was never about Jordan stepping up his game when he was at his worst, confidence or inspiration had nothing to do with it, he knew he wasn't at his best so he just stuck to the fundamentals - using his teammates, finding openings and mid-range jumpers all day long. Same goes for Lekkerimaki's playoffs last year. He wasn't at his best with the puck on his stick but he just did all the little things he does so well - supporting and tracking the puck, making quick possession plays down low, finding openings, and because of that he ended up on the top line with Ohgren and Kruger and without ever really driving play he was an important contributor to the line that drove Djurgarden to the finals. Today he's looking back to his draft-year self where he's supporting the play so closely that he's almost tripping over his linemates. You can tell he is ready to and wants to be a difference-maker, actually holding on to the puck a little bit at times and trying to beat defenders. Lol and just as I was about to post this he scored a goal. Now just down one with 2:54 to go.
  15. Nope. That was HV's replacement pick when he got mixed up and thought Stenberg was gone. Turned out he was mistaken so it went back to Stenberg.
  16. Per list Detroit selects Oscar Fisker-Molgaard. @BigTramFan
  17. I'm guessing you're just one of these homer posters who will hate anything that doesn't say the Canucks have the best prospect pool?
  18. There's no way to know for sure, but those of us who actually try to figure it out are going to have a better chance at getting it right than people who just say "there's no point, it's impossible".
  19. This is just utter nonsense is all it is. I distinctly remember Anaheim having the top ranked prospect pool by all accounts in '05, because that was around the time I started following prospects closely. Same for Boston, L.A., St. Louis the next few years. You can always get a pretty good idea of which teams will be competing for Cups a few years out by looking at the prospect pools. Now that doesn't mean THN or any given source will have it exactly correct, but it's a good place to start.
  20. Current Sens depth chart: Robertson - Tavares - Compher Hagel - Eriksson Ek - Palmieri Perron - Johnston - Quinn But - Chmelevski - Samoskevich Wahlberg Gostisbehere - Burns Moser - Samuelsson Mukhamadullin - Aho Lambos Swayman Driedger Alnefelt Currently Wahlberg is listed as C but is expected to play wing in the NHL. Conversely But is listed as wing but I think there's a decent chance he ends up a center.
  21. At this depth most kids that age won't be making an impact for four or five years anyway. Team affiliation doesn't mean much. In fact you could argue it's better to take prospects from teams in that stage of their cycle, as by the time the prospects are ready you hope the team will be too.
  22. The Ottawa Senators are thrilled to select Anton Wahlberg. @BBKELLY99
